So a game hints at giving players total creative freedom and everyone recoils because they might end up seeing something they don't like? And you wonder why we get such watered down, uninspiring, cookie cutter games.
So 2007 is old school? Making me feel old... I used to play this game right after it came out. 01 or 02 I guess. It was my first MMO. Making a browser game like that in 2001 is simply amazing.
I would second TF2; it's probably the easiest game to just jump into right now. That being said I play Tribes: Ascend all the time and it's not buggy for me.
Call me crazy, but I like a little cold-heartedeness from the admins. Keeps the cheaters and griefers on their toes. If a few innocents get sacrificed along the way...well that's the price of justice. Or something like that.
If automatic budget cuts happen, you can probably say goodbye to a NASA funded MMO.

It's impossible for me to get excited about games in development anymore, particularly those games by indie compan…
Gonna have to be one hell of a game to pull this off. Lots of respect for CCP, but glad it's not my money on the line.
Will console fps players go for an online game thats major selling points include a complex player-driven endgame and being linke…
Well it all sounds very nice in theory. That being said, raising 600k in the next 20 days is not going to be possible. Get something tangible that people can play and get excited about, then ask for their money.
As for letting players vote on all m…

Both of those cards might struggle a bit in mass PvP if you're playing at 1920x1080 or above but not so much if lower, hard to tell at the moment though as the game is so unoptimized. If i…
It looks pretty nice. I do have a suggestion for the case though.
Consider the Antec 300 or 900. These are pretty much the standard for computer cases. Reviews say all you need to know. They are also cheaper than the Rosewill. That being said I do …
I am torn on a Bethesda MMO. On the surface you have a great company that has been making solid games for a long time. Why wouldn't you want them to make an MMO?
For one, much of Bethesda's success can be attributed the the modding communities sur…
Now if they can just get their rears in gear for Diablo 3, we will have a total resurgence of old school Blizzard titles.
Hopefully it will be worth the decade long wait. Although when you are talking about Blizzard there isn't much doubt they wil…
I'll have to give Istaria a try at some point. I remember being in the beta for Horizons years ago. The lack of polish as well as my lack of time prevented me from ever getting involved with it for long.
If you are talking about F2P/subscription m…
I haven't played any of the games listed here, but from my experience DDO is very RP friendly. Running on the D&D 3.5 system, and being completely instance based certainly helps. As with any MMO though, it's really more about who you play with t…
DDO is a good game, it's pretty much entirely quest/instance based however. They also sell zones, character classes, etc in the cash shop. You don't really need that stuff to play the game casually though, and it is possible (although mind numbingly…
I enjoyed this article, there is a lot of truth to what you say. As someone who threw many tantrums at my NES when I was a kid, I can totally relate (who turned off the NES?! I was on level 9!!!!). Saving your game was unheard of. I think because of…
Very good article. It's nice to read about current events that are impacting the industry as a whole. I think MMORPG.com should feature more of these types of articles and less top 5 lists.

I've never really bought in to the concept of an IQ. There are so many different types of intelligence, how can you measure them? One person might be focused on logic, while others may possess more creativity, wisdom, common sense, empathy, memory e…
