I agree with the above as to my hesitation. The game looks good in theory. The grind is a bit much... and I don't mind a bit of grinding.
I hope they tone the grind down a bit so I can give it a shot.
If new games were good, they wouldn't need old games to die in order to succeed. People stick with older games because they are better. Plain and simple.
Odd that you won't "wax poetic about the Metaverse" but will wax poetic about Pokemon Go.
I think if MMOs do make it out into the real world, it will be with AR/VR HMDs.
I'm finding it to me a mix of ArcheAge, New World and GW2. Fun enough to play for free but it hasn't grabbed me and made me want to play every free moment.
It will be interesting to see how it progresses, if I make it that far.
Having played a little beta, it seems like a mix of BDO and New World. It seemed ok. As with most MMOs, I think it will be more fun playing with friends, especially the PvP part.

I think it is a FFA full loot PvP so I never even bothered to check it out.
While I love PvP and don't mind partial loot PvP, I absolutely can't stand full loot PvP. Nothing says your game has a bland loot table more than f…
AA as a game was great. It has a cool character class system, good combat, cool ship battles, in depth housing and ok, but empty, PvP.
The game was ruined by a P2W system... but the game itself was actually pretty good. If the new AA is an actu…
So much crying about games that release too early because they should have taken their time to do it right... then more crying if games take their time to do it right... then more crying if they are having trouble funding and may close their doors..…
Maybe they saw a surge in early access purchases and thought they would stretch it out a few more weeks.
Isn't the game going to be free to play once released?
It looks interesting. Only time will tell if they develop it properly. I'm not one to wire off a game because of past experiences with a developer. If I was, I wouldn't play any game ever released.

I liked AA the game as a whole. I didn't like the P2W added later. I was kind of looking forward to how this developed. It seems like it may never hit the market.
Of course, the best option is a decent developer takes over the game and releases…
If it's a smaller studio making a game that I feel looks interesting, I will give it money, but generally only if it comes with early access.
I've only given twice and never more than $35.

When I stop playing, it is dead.
What happens when you start playing it again? Do you bust out the paddles and yell "BREATHE DAMNIT, BREATHE!"
There's dead as in the developer shuts the game down. Even then private servers open up (see Warhammer Online, City of Heroes, Star Wars Galaxies)
There's dead as in the player complaining wants other people to stop playing because that player …

It is a bit irritating that I have to research a game marked as an "MMO" to see if it's actually an MMO. I've had to refund too many games because I bought it thinking one thing and it turned out to be something completely different.
It seems …
