Greyed has it right above. GW2 did some really phenomenal things, but it was overshadowed by the negatives of the combat system. If you added a basic WoW trinity to this game at launch, I think we're not even having this conversation.

Definitely think GW2 deserves its spot. There are so many little things that GW2 does right. You may not like the game, but it's one of the best MMOs ever made.

I can see how this would not be the ideal game for those looking for immersion.
It's really more of an action game (jumping puzzles, no mana, no cast times, dodging) with RPG elements, than a full blown immersive RPG. I like where the game is at …
There are many things I like more about GW2's combat system, but the game would have been better if the down-state was removed and the trinity system was back.
Perhaps in the future, someone can tweak the "combo field" idea to provide more noticeab…

It's not a grind to me because I don't care. My level 80 ranger has a mix of exotic and rare and I am just fine with that. I still did the Karka events and got along just fine. Sometimes I think we make our own grind …
These forums are officially a cesspool. It was doom and gloom before launch. It was doom and gloom during launch. It's doom and gloom now months after launch, and it's like this for every new game.
The reality is that GW2 is solid. Now leveling my…
I'm not a dungeon guy, with most of my playtime devoted to WvW, but I had a blast.
Challenging, but not impossible, and I could see where we could have done better. Really creative design. I just hope this new dynamic satiates the power users, and…

Feel free to add your own comments if you still actively play. Would you ever play a cosmetic based game like GW2 again? One in which stats plateau rather quickly at level cap and cosmetic gear is the only thing you w…
I think you should check out Sanctum of Rall. The backstory on the naming of this server is here (it's named after a player who passed away) http://wildboarinn.net/2012/07/18/my-gw2-home-sanctum-of-rall/
i'm not sure if there is a "the" server yet…

Yeah, 7 pages in and late to the party, but it's cool that nearly 2/3rds said several months to several years. I feel the same way.
I'm now level 57, and haven't run a single dungeon. I haven't PvE'd at all in at least 10 levels. There are other cl…

Ok yeah, that was quite bad.
What did that guy that was set in stone at the beginning have to do with anything? Where are all the anarchist themes coming from?
The ending didn't tie any of the post apocalyptic real life scenarios together, and jus…
I don't think people give enough credit to the amount of work that goes into an MMORPG when compared to another type of game like a multi-player FPS, an iOS game, or even a single player sandbox RPG like Skyrim.
MMO's are huge technological achiev…
