Pug is a terrible example and you would know had you read the books. There were two paths of magic and he wasn't able to comprehend the Lesser Path. Also, once he entered training for the Greater path, he was there for years.
For those also looking for this, I picked up my copy of the boardgame during one of Game Stop's pro sales for like $70 even though it didn't fit in the little bag you have to buy.
I must be one of the few people who think BoTW is largely over-rated. Those crappy, short puzzles are not dungeons and that is a huge part of the game for me. Even the infamous water dungeon is better than anything here.

Loot boxes, as much as I dislike them, is like saying opening packs of MTG cards or baseball cards is gambling. Only difference is the argument of tangible vs intangible commodities.
My biggest gripe so far is that you can't swing melee weapons when there are no targets in range and instead you get flooded with the on screen warning about it.
