  • They are neither squares nor eunuchs.  What false advertising! Seriously, though, it should be pretty obvious that this isn't the same company that made the original Final Fantasies (say, up to FF8).  I blame their partnership with EA.
  • Hah, no thanks OP.  The game is fine right now, in the present.  Only thing wrong with it is the need to clear up the login bloat, and that will take way less than 1 year.  I'd be surprised if it's still an issue 1 month from now.
  • I imagine it took some time for people to finish patching their client so they can hammer the server again.  Once that relative window of safety is out of the way, we'll probably be right back in the same old stewpot of way more people trying to log…
  • I wonder if this 3102 error is being caused by people who were logged in when they said the server was coming down for maintenence, and most of those people were just idling and preventing others from getting online again. If so, you go karma, do y…
  • It's hard to call it a genuinely bad relaunch when there's essentially only one thing wrong with it: the demand was so much higher than anticipated that they were completely unprepared to allow most people to log in. However, if you do somehow log …
  • Originally posted by Walter Hagen When traveling life's highway, don't forget to stop and smell the roses. Heck with you, man, I'm getting level 50 in 1 week by playing 24/7 on a diet of Jolt and coffee bean trail mix, and then I'm going to go on…
  • Actually, I do find that a little odd.  5pm/8pm is prime time.  Even noon would be better than that.  Couldn't they find a maintenance window that's square on 5pm-8pm for the Pacific or Atlantic ocean?  (But then, I suppose people in Hawaii or Green…
  • Originally posted by Electro057 That said I don't quite understand the people whining and crying and saying they're gunna quit cause they can't play.... It's actually quite simple.  We're quitting because the game rebuffs all our attempts to log …
  • Well, my first impression of FF XIV: A Realm Reborn is ruined.  I came back (v1.0 player) to give it a try, and sure enough, all the servers are full of players right now.  SquareEnix apparently can't be buggered to run a queue anymore, so instead t…
  • Sounds good!  I think I'll give the Lancer a try.
  • Yo mama is what the end game is like, me.  Oh, snap~! Anywho, I did find a little information about this a few posts down:  (And to think I searched for "end game" before I made this post - nobody used that term on this forum).  Sounds like pretty …
  • Sorry OP, I'm going to have to disagree. Sandboxes are generally unguided experiences, yes, but they can have a learning curve, like an initial tutorial, or a wider range of recipes you unlock as you go.  Think Minecraft, but it's perfectly accepta…
  • I believe it.  SWTOR was one of the few games to follow in WoW's footsteps that managed to come away with a modicum of success.  It had subscribers in the hundreds of thousands since launch, and those numbers have been relatively stable.  The F2P op…
  • If you don't understand immersion, you're probably overthinking it.  Feeling "immersed" in an MMORPG is identical in nature to feeling fished in by a good book.  It captivates your imagination and makes you feel like you're "there" without too many …
  • It's probably just going to be another skuill on the pile outside of World of Warcraft's cave.  I think the only one of its imitators to get away with a modicum of success was Rift, not counting F2P games, of course.  The rest either closed or have …
  • Good catch about EVE, that game is really in a class of its own. I played it.  EVE was alright, but I felt there was not enough to do when I was behind the helm of a ship.  Move somewhere.  Click a button to activate modules.  Wait.  I think I'd ne…
  • You seem to think I'm a prude.  I'm no porn fiend, but I'm okay with it in moderation, so you assume too much.  Anyway, prudishness has nothing to do with women being objectified so most of what you're saying there doesn't make sense in context. I …
  • Originally posted by Syno23 I've started a thread with an alarmist topic, then stated the exact opposite applies to my personal experience of it, and then started predicting the future. Pure grandstanding for attention, that's all this thread us.…
  • This is the Internet.  People naysay habitually about everything.  (And if you're thinking about disagreeing with that, thanks for proving my point. Seriously, why get your knickers in a twist about 50/388 people disliking the game?  They've been …
  • Woah there, trigger.  Actually, if you look at the sales figures for just about any game, the first major sales occur in the beginning, not the end.  A foremost example here, 4M sales on the first week, 600k sales on the second week, and it just kee…
