I had the same problem some time ago and finally decided that the better graphics just did not justify the problems Vista gave me in comparison to good old Xp which is just tested so long for so many games that it just runs smoother everywhere.

I think AoC will defenitely be the better choice for you. War´s PvE content (although notching is certain) wont reach AoC. As far as I know, AoC will be playable without a group, they wont force you. So it will be your choice if you stay the lone …
