Take up online poker or meditation.

Video games are about having fun not risking your money, or wasting entire evenings doing nothing.

Says you. I actually enjoy the challenge of PVP where dying actually has consequences and winning actually has a purpose. What next? PVE where mobs don't give experience or drop loot. Give me a break.

Take up SIMS, or Hell Kitty Online - oh wait, you have WOW.

Bad endgame!??? Whats better than getting to level 60 and going into ironforge to slaughter Gnomes! Nothing is better than that my friend! Seeing little PC gnomes running for their lives as you cast Immolation on them and watching them burn is incredibly satisfying....especially after a long day as a financial advisor. Burn Gnomes! BURN!!!!!!!!!!!!

While that's fun (actually, heaps of fun!!!) to begin with,
it gets old quickly - especially as you realize the exact same gnomes you just
burnt to death reappear at your ankles less than a minute later – at which
point you realize you have accomplished nothing.

What exactly were you trying to accomplish?

It's a video game. Fun is the ultimate goal.

This game was so fun when I started playing it.  The possibilities were endless.  WoW probably has the most disappointing endgame of any other MMO or game for that matter considering what an epic game it could of been.

Players had an endgame in the form of PVP and city raiding, but of course that was stripped away.  Battlegrounds and the honor system made pvp potentials hide in BGs and since that was the only place pvp can be found and only rewarding pvp that's where everyone was.

A game full of massive amounts of level 60 players playing the same 3 repatative battleground games.  What a flop.

If you're someone who enjoys things other than pvp you can raid a few dungeons, but just getting into a raid guild is a task in itself.  There's a whole lot of politics you have to go through ontop of all the drama...All guilds have it unless of course you're a guild leader..then you can crap all over everyone else and screw people out of items so your friend's get them.  Raiding will consist of hours upon hours of your life being wasted away to maybe get 1 epic.  Then once you get the epics......???...heh...you get to go sit in ironforge and show em off like you would show your clothes off at a church.  There's nothing to WoW outside of controled pvp and instanced raiding.  No life in the world.  Blizzard killed city raiding and world pvp.  The expansion will be interesting for about 2 months and everything and everyone will settle into the same cycle WoW is in right now.

level 1-59 this game is great.  It's WoW's endgame and Blizzard's insistance on making sure all the whiners weren't getting killed and everyone played nicely that kept it from being legendary.

    My 2 cents, thanks

your 2 cents makes No sense and thusly worthless.

I am trying to accomplish the goal of victory! After all, I am on a PVP server and we are at war! If I kill someone (or get killed) there should be a feeling of defeat which is brought on by some type of death penalty. In conjunction with this the winner should be given some type of reward, such as loot.

This would mean that I have somehow hurt the enemy or reduced their effectiveness at attacking us, and in return strengthened our attacking ability (loot). By winning many small battles you can win the war! And that is what I call accomplishment, and fun - both of which WOW lacks, IMO.

Try RP-ing, can be fun as well.

1st off its accepted not excepted

Its true unless you transfer to a laggy full server but then the world pvp is about as eventful as nge swg pvp, considering I know people that ground out to grand marshall practically afk in AV

Raiding guilds, what do you know of raiding guilds

on illidan we won almost every ab/warsong game we played

we were the only ones to my knowledge raiding undercity

on executus same thing no one knew where undercity was till we xfered there

now we're on tichondrius for some unknown f$@k off reason (probably for lack of a better game) about to do the honor grind there, when some of us have rank 14's on other servers, in fact the whole plan was to grind up to 51 get in AV and get the most honor and securing the top 5 ranks to screw the people out of getting rank 14 the last chance they have to do so

but speaking of nge swg, the better late then never smedley says "hey guys lets put in battlegrounds in swg wow did it and lets add an honor system too just like wow" right around the time the people over at wow are saying "ugh yikes this isn't working we better change it"...... GG SOE

hey smed I bet dark and light will be up for sale soon, you should buy that and revamp it

City raiding happens on my server (Blackwater Raiders). PvP is what you make of it as is the RPing and PvE parts. It is your fault that you need a reward to do something that you want to do anyways. WoW isn't the best game in the world, but it does excel in what it does. It is the only game where I can find more than 10 people that want to RP and more than 10 people at all times. Other games, including Ryzom, which stands out in RP is on the smallish side concerning community. Without a community, your game is like an empty shell. Some may be fine with soloing, but I am not. But then again, people who play WoW tend to solo mostly as well.

I am no raider or a PvPer, but I am a RPer and RPing is good on my server. So I will stay. If that makes me a carebear, a girl (sexist talk anyways), or a martian, then so be it.

    I see your point.

I suppose the improvement gained by your character is not enough for you then. Honour experience and faction which translates to higher levels better equipment etc. Increasing your advantage.  You do actaully gain more for winning. It's just that the other guy doesn't lose very much at all. Apart freom the annoyance of having to respawn, he doesn't so much lose as not win as much. Both your characters advance, but the winner advances more. In this way he doesn't get bored and you still have many players willing to fight you.

Nothing is worse than those open PvP games where no one will fight each other. How tedious is that?

When I PvP, I do it for the challenge of the fight. Not for personal dominion. But we are all different. I think WW2 online allows you to win the war and then they reset the server. Not a bad system I suppose, although if you play Planetside and many other multiplayer war games, you will soon see people hopping sides when it looks like one is losing too much. I guess people just don't have fun losing.

If you spent the whole night losing. You would play the game less. If you spent all night everynight losing you would soon stop playing. A good game must keep you in a position where you are often going to win.

The problem with a system like you describe is very soon it can get to the point of irrepairable inbalance.

A winning streak gets you all the best loot and weakens your rivals so that you are the uber lord. The more you fight, the more uber you become, the more you win the weaker your rivals become. Until one day, no one can ever beat you. You and your guild become the uberlords of the server and everyone else can no longer be a contender. This is so great for you that you never leave the server or quit the game, The server is now permanently borked for everyone else.

This is one of Eve's major flaws. Game balance. Presumably whichever players have played that game permanently since beta are now the server gods. Untouchable in their Deathstars.

It's very difficult to achieve balance in a PvP RPG. At least in an FPS the gamer knows his only disadvantage is map knowledge and skill, but in an RPG a person who plays for more hours than another player can often gain advantage too large to be compensated against. Personal skill is removed, he with the most ingame time rules the server by force of the game mechanic.

I think WoW would prosper form the addition of a Hardcore server. One life only. Like in Diablo. I think there is enough players to support one and it would add a lot of replayability to the game for those that have done it to death already. However I prefer my PvP consentual to Open. It is after all an RPG. PvP is just a small element of the game. An enjoyable additional feature rather than the core principle of roleplay games.

This is a controversial topic, but yeah I mostly agree with that statement it definatly appeals and caters to newbies and carebears. The hardest part about the game is basically organizing raids and the pvp is the same boring and predictable thing basically every fight. Their is very little tactics involved with the game unfortunately. Unless you've played UO's early pvp you just don't know what your missing as far as pvp goes it really knew how to get your heart racing and the genius of it was so unpredictable what might happen next that you never knew what to expect...the great part about it was it was really a game of wits.
