Will you be able to acquire all recipes through solo play? No as this is not a solo game. The more people working together to accomplish a goal the greater the reward. Running to the bottom of the dark dungeon to forge the ancient blade of death is not something you are doing solo nor is the recipe something you are going to pick up from a vendor. Now you can discover a rare recipe through experimentation which is a solo experience but if you desire to do it all you will not be able to do that solo.
please name one MMO that does allow this? i dont know any MMO on the market that allows you to be the best of the best of the best all by yourself. sure in WOW you can solo to 60, but you cant raid by yourself, so you wont get the super uber best items in the game without grouping. how, exactly, should a MMO go about making this game "solo only", seeing as its a MMO? and what would be the point of it if they did? why not just play Oblivion instead, its already out and you can mod it out and such.

EQ1 prior to Planes of Power allowed this, which equates to almost 4 years of time.
I was a grandmaster self sufficient solo tailor. I could get all the recipes solo, could harvest all the ingredients solo, could assemble all the recipes solo.
Anyone who knows anything about old school tradeskills in EQ1 like tailoring and tinkering especially, knows that there were very few grandmasters around and the fact that it was a self sufficient solo pursuit possibility had zero negative effect on flooding the market with high quality items nor was it easy to accomplish.
How odd that Brad was in charge of EQ1 back then yet has turned 180 degrees since then in regards to self sufficient solo crafting.

What I am looking for is a game where by, Player housing is possible (similar to SWG and UO) for me its a MUST. If there is no player housing, no property for me to own and feel like I "own" something in this game, I cant get hooked. I really want a game with skills rather then class based. I really like the freedom of knowing, "hey if what I pick today, if I dont like it in 5 months from now, I can just "adjust" my skills and not lose my characters advancement by having to create a new character. I want a free world, so NO instances and the number one thing I want, is NO GROUPING forced!! I Hate the fact that people who simply like to be part of a group have an advancetage in a 1 v 1 scenario with a person who likes to hang by himself because his time doesnt permit to "commit" and dedicate a "pre-determined" amount of play time. I sit on the computer, sometimes I play for 5 hours without interruption, other time I need to log off after 20 minutes, Im not always in control of my time, so if Im about to raid and I got to log off, guess what.... too bad for me right? well NO, I dont want to "need" other people in order for me to also have access to "phat loot", so that brings the next thing I want Player made economy, where the best item in the game is craftable not a loot drop. Or if it is a loot drop, its a one in a million drop so say one or two people per server will have it and everyone else will need to buy crafted items to be "elite".

Well im a vanguade fanboi, i'll say vanguard is the second comming of christ, so all bow to vanguard. Besides, it will be the bestmmorpg on the market for us ex EQ veterans. Thats is one thing for sure.

Seems to me the forums would get pretty boring if everyone sang the same tune. Endless posts by people saying "Even though it is not finished and released yet, this game rocks". So much for diversity of opinions, from now on everyone, you can only post to the Vanguard forum if you are a fanboi.

Exactly how I feel.
I could spend hours and hours on end decorating my house to make it the most unique. And for some reason I'd get a sense of accomplishment (although we all know it means nothing in real life, it means everything in the game world). I loved this feature personally. It opened up a whole new world of oppurtunities inside that game world.
You can spend hours on end going in to each house and everyone looked unique from each other. It was a great way to show someone's creativity. And also having some place inside the game to call your own, makes you feel like someway, your apart of that wonderful gaming community and the game itself.

I loved almost everything about pre-NGE SWG. I am looking for someone to add the same amount of depth and freedom to "other than combat" systems as SWG had. Housing, crafting, mounts, vehicles, character creation and advancement. I have yet to find a game that is even attempting to do those things better than SWG did.... it's a shame that they had to ruin the game that was perfect for me. I am holding out hope that vanguard can at least come close.... unfortunately it looks more and more like they will miss the mark as time goes on.
