Using my playbook or not, any validness this method of yours adds to your claims has a negative algebraic sign, and a considerably high modulus.

Critical missions... I know there are people who read/comprehend faster and better than me, who fight and move from building to building faster than me, and who care less about the details in missions than me.
But in 5 minutes, I can't believe you can actually go through a mission and understand it. You can just chase through it without paying attention, but then it's your own fault that you call them repetetive and boring, and have no reason to do them aswell.
Apart from that, there's a considerable number of Pandora's Box missions, neighborhood contact missions, and archive missions. They count something.
Yes, the standard missions are the same, that's their principle, and I hate it. That's why I've stopped doing them months months ago.
But if someone likes the mission areas and finds them diverse enough for his own taste, the environment can improve the experience.
We both have to realize that whether you like or dislike these areas is, to a high degree, a matter of personal taste.
There's also the tangible side of it, where you refuse to back up anything.
As an outsider who has never tried the game I see two sides who have experienced the game in different ways. Some seem to love it...some hate it like the OP. You'll never convince each other who's right or wrong... so the endless debating is probably pointless. (other than it serves to entertain you, I suppose).
But as someone mentioned, for whatever reason, bad gameplay, not a fantasy MMO or whatever, this game hasn't caught fire like some others...and appears to be heading downhill......

Not so sure about it heading downhill, but you're probably right in general.
This game mainly hasn't caught fire because of being released in a horrible state (as far as I know). Many of those bugs have been fixed, but many haven't.

I want to love the game. I love the franchise and want this game to be on top. I deplore that I don't get any sense of achievement doing anything in the game. It all comes down to: why am I doing these missions? more so when you know that there isn't any end game content.
Critical missions are and have always been nothing more or less than static, pseudo-interactive storytelling media, and shouldn't be looked at or judged as anything else.
If you mean standard missions and levelling - yes, very little end game content, and most of the content and advantages you gain from levelling are already achieved before level 50.
That's why I've stopped focusing on levelling months and months, and I can understand very well why you don't like it.

And the reason for this all... *Drum Roll Please* because SOE took it over, now nothing is being meaningfully developed.
That's because like two thirds (according to official sources, I think) of the original Monolith team has been fired, and SOE doesn't provide what's left of the team enough budget.
The actual development work can't be less meaningful than under Monolith because it's the same developers, basically.

I think what he's trying to say is that the original development team (Monolith) already designed alot of the things that are being released now. Take the Halloween even for instance, the zombies that randomly spawned throught the city were actually designed to be apart of a dungeon, but due to unknown factors, the release of the dungeon never made it into live. Luggables, I think are the same thing. In fact, there are even files that are included in the Martix Online Directory Folder that can access other constructs that never made it into live either. There is so many things that just need to be tweaked a bit to be added into game!
But, I don't know if that's what he meant for sure.

*Yawn* Do I speak in riddles or what?
HarshBrick said nothing is being meaningfullly developed because SOE has taken over. I wanted to clarify that this is caused by lack of budget and manpower caused by the lack of income and the transition.
Because, you know, you can also understand that sentece in the other way: Monolith has sold the game to SOE, another company and other people are now working on it, and unlike the previous developers, these SOE guys don't develop the game "meaningfully".
What I wanted to point out, in case it was meant this way: those developing the game and making specific decisions about game development are basically the same people as before.
Really, it's a basic and simple statement, let alone common knowledge.
PS: I'll need a few weeks more before I master the drum roll.

I knew I had it wrong...
I know what the people with a negetive opinion will say...
"How can it be 'basically the same people as before' if they fired all but three devs for The Matrix Online?"
I'll leave you to answer it. Apparently I'm no good with words.
Oh, what I forgot to add to my previous post: with the same people working under SOE as under Monolith before, it also makes little sense to say "PB and CR 2.0 were planned at Monolith, SOE just finished them", because actually, the developers started the project under Monolith and finished it under SOE.
Of course, the current development team only consists of a minority of the original Monolith team. That many designers were "fired" (again, as far as I remember, Rarebit said it were about 2/3) is the reason why lots of technical stuff can't or hardly can be implemented and the team currently appears to be doomed to completing projects earlier put on ice (which isn't a bad thing at itself, I guess - if good projects already have been put on ice for whatever lack of time or ability, why not complete it?).
I guess you could also say most creative heads aren't with us anymore, but Rarebit does a very good job at continuing their work, in my opinion, so that's less of a problem.
The current producer has been promoted after the transition, I think, and has always been the Community Relations Manager for the game, which he still is. And I believe he is the one making "decisions" about the actual game development.
I wouldn't call him a "SOE producer", therefore.
I have not heard anything about newcomer developers from SOE. Thus, I equally don't understand why people are saying that Monolith were noobs and SOE is doing much better in game development.
Either the remaining developers have just improved or SOE must have given them some assistance or tools - but I don't know anything about it, so would be nice if anyone who does know would post this information.
Anyways, HarshBrick's announcement sounded like it were completely new people working on TMO which don't care, or something. Not exactly corresponding to facts.
If anything, SOE left four devs, not three - HCFrog, the fourth man, left voluntarily (as far as known) to work on a new project - DC, I suppose.
Currently, we know three developers and one producer by forum nicknames. I dunno, can a game really be run by three developers? If yes, maybe. But generally, it's suggesting that not every developer starts a forum account and posts on the forums, but only some of them.

So "three devs" is a moot assumption at its best.
This game is front runner along Dungeon and Dragons to get cancelled this year so shut the hell up with your fanboy crap. Looks like only you and Skyjackal are having fun giving buttsecks to one another in this peice of crap.
Read MMORPG awards people and forget what others say. Reader choice means the most and according to majority of readers including me this game sucks. Move on.

"Fanboy crap"? The post you quoted was about MxO's developer team, what are you talking about?
Just a meaningless and unprovoked personal attack which doesn't show the slightest trace of reading comprehension.
Now just to give it back in the same form (because I'm tired of giving pseudo-intellectual and artificially calm responses to flames): shut the *bleeeep* up with your camp follower and majority crap, and move on - unless you have more to contribute than reader majority opinions and obtuse flames.

I like your taste mr. People like me who know what quality gaming is all about walked away from this trash a long time ago. While you are still here arguing over this sorry excuse for gaming and the biggest misuse of movie franchise after Star Wars Galaxy. I was so hyped when MO was announced but i didn't know that developers were nothing but a group of monkies jumping over keyboards while writing codes for this game.

HarshBrick...heh I kinda like that name, tells my nature, but anyway on to the post..
What I ment is since SOE took it under it's wing it has lost the direction Monolith had going for it. So they have the plans but you think SOE's ignorant developers are going to follow them? Nope, it seems to me this was tooken for the only reason of income from the players that are currently in the game and no direction to bring in new players. I haven't seen any advertising to grab a new player base. I really do think this game will take the same dive as SWG, it will soon die because of the lack of care SOE has for the game. It seems to be common with any game SOE developes except for the Everquest series...hmmm something to think about.
[[ DEAD ]] - Funny - I deleted my account on the site using the cancel account button. Forum user is separate and still exists with no way of deleting it. Delete it admins. Do it, this ends now.
Again, what do you mean by "SOE's ignorant developers"? You've just read my post, and know they're the ignorant developers from Monolith, right?
Producer Dan "Walrus" Myers was merely community relations manager back then, and the developer known as "Rarebit" merely a mission writer. They've enhanced their duties, and you might argue that they aren't competent enough for them. But "SOE developers" doesn't make sense, that's really all I'm saying, even if it's nitpicking.
Also, Monolith's original programmers have released the game with tons of bugs, and have coded the game so invonveniently that it's often hard to change or introduce the simplest thing. So why put Monolith over SOE, if the game would be already dead under Monolith, and all upside they had (as far as I know) was a larger team and the LET.
And whoever decides to quote this post, don't give me anything about how MxO sucks and I'm a fanboy; this comment revolves about designer team and nothing else.
Go look for posts where I say "omg this game is the best out there", and attack me there.

Woot, MXO has a short staff with too many duties who work with an engine they don't understand. I think you ended up helping his point.
i get tired of these "this mmo is dead" threads. if you have a problem with an mmo, then leave.....theres probably 200+ mmo's out there ...so you will always see population shifts as new ones are released....does not mean your current mmo is dead.
Oh they already have, they're just not mature enough to move on. Stupid vendettas ftl.
But meh, i'm done with this crap. I'll let the readers make up their own minds, they have plenty of material to forge their own opinion already anyway.

Read MMORPG awards people and forget what others say. Reader choice means the most and according to majority of readers including me this game sucks. Move on.
The OP has the right of it. Nothing he wrote that I disagree with.
This game was stillborn.

Further flames will be ignored.
Oh they already have, they're just not mature enough to move on. Stupid vendettas ftl.
But meh, i'm done with this crap. I'll let the readers make up their own minds, they have plenty of material to forge their own opinion already anyway.
