The cities in EQ II are bustling and alive with people, makes me feel as if I am in the game, not just playing it.
I want to see blacksmiths blacksmithing, chickens running around the farmyard, NPC's that are more than just placeholder mannequins with no more life than a mission terminal in SWG. I want to see life in the cities, fluff mobs in the countryside and hear the noise of horses shuffling about and neighing when I am at the stables.
Like I have said in other posts even if Vanguard ran at 60 FPS and I enjoyed the timesinks I could not give the game more than a C+ because of the overall amateur feel of the game. This is far from a third generation game and does not even meet second generation standards. It is EQ1 in prettier graphics and that is all. Pretty graphics get old fast, it is the game play which will retain subscribers and Vanguards just is not there.
Even if that were true (and I'm not saying it is) EQ1 is still around, disproving your theory that there is no market for a game like Vanguard. You don't enjoy the gameplay within Vanguard (and feel it necessary to patronize people who do, which is pathetic and reeks of insecurity) but others do. The BETA servers are always packed. You seem to spend most of your time here telling us how bad Vanguard is. It seems to be your "raison d'etre". I find that very sad TBH. If that's all you have, then I feel truly sorry for you. My advice is to find a game you DO enjoy and start playing. There is more to life than hating a game you are not even going to play!

It is true and yuou know it Sharky however you will never admit it, to you the game is perfecta and anyone whoi see fault with it must be a Blizzard fanboy dissing his game. I do not hate vanguard, I don;t hate any game howefver I do enjoy discussing this game and others as a hobby. I alsio  happen tpo be at the burnout stage in a game which happens to me every few months and I take a break for a while and just cruise boards, The last game I subscribed to was EQII, which I have been subscribed to off and on since I betaed it a couple of years ago.

Vanguard is news now , face it. A lot of do not think the game is all that, live with it.

Oh and EQ1 is still around as is the Matrix and Dark and Light. Each has it's followers which enjoy it. Enjoy Vanguard and don't worry about me Sharkey. Just play the game and have fun.

    I miss DAoC

You know what I think now? Settle down Nostradumbass! You patronize people for enjoying aspects of gameplay that you don't like and you have been "predicting" Vanguard's outright failure. That's not a discussion. You have absolutely NOTHING positive or constructive to add to any discussion on this board. A prime example of that is the way you tried to derail my thread in your usual patronizing way. Believe me when I tell you I am not worried about you. I just wish you and your ilk would leave these forums and find something you enjoy playing.

Do you just sit around and wait for people to make a post dissing Vanguard Sharkey so you can launch with your personal insults and try and derail it? Or just when the servers are down, which  is most of the time it seems? Now where did I say Vanguard is gonna fail? I figure it will be a mediocre seller and a mediocre niche game, something along the lines of the Matrix and Horizons. It is certainly better than Dark and Light or Mourning which are true failures.

Now back to topic can you debate what I posted about the lifeless cites and same old same old quests or do you just want to call me names and tell me to go away.

    I miss DAoC

I'm more than willing to debate any aspect of Vanguard with you, positive or negative, and yes I will concede that there are negative aspects. If you are going to imply that I believe the game is or will be a failure, then I'm going to go on the offensive because that is not my belief. You're not really one to talk about derailing threads BTW (People in glass houses etc). As far as "the same old quests", I'm not really sure what you were expecting. MMOs are based on questing/adventuring ... nature of the beast and all that. What constitutes "new" quests?

Lifeless cities? As opposed to what, the "annoying as hell" NPCs that populate EQ2. Again, I'm not sure what you are getting at! I think Vanguard is as immersive as any other MMO TBH. I will admit that Vanguard, like SWG (Pre-CU) relies on you having some imagination but in all honesty I am having a good time playing it. It's not perfect, but what is in this day and age? I'm willing to ride it out and see where it goes from here. I won't lose any sleep if it crashes and burns although I really don't think it will.

To the OP, I agree 100%.  On the beta boards for months they have talked about a lack of a "hook."  Even the devs recognized it.

The cities and NPCs are lifeless, dead almost.  Just like the subscription numbers will be.
