This game is just...bad. I mean, yeah customisable characters are okay. But the graphics are just horrible. The game play? Just as bad. And if your not into PVP, don't even bother with this game whats so ever. So, I'll be uninstalling it on my computer now, so this'll be (hopefully) the last time I'll ever have to complain on the board. Dont' get me wrong, I'm incredibly happy about being chosen to be a beta tester, but the interface is horrible, along with the graphics, and the fighting is just a snooze-fest to me.

First off I would like to thank the staff of MMORPG for selecting me as a winner... And now to my rants and praise.
Being excited with finally downloading the game I loaded it immediatly. The install was rather boring cycling through the same few screen shots... And they were not even pretty. Granted it is nothing major about the game, but could use major improvments if they hope to catch eyes immediatly.
So after the install I load up the game... Wow... Few faces to choose... Few hair styles... I have seen this about a thousand times. So my charecter is created, time to stary roleplaying.... Pfft yeah like that happened. Wonderful community thus far (does anyone else agree the whole Diablo fan base transfered to this game?).
Alright so lets see what the game has to offer... Alright lets talk to the town guide... Wha?! Is that even English? Its not even Korean... Okay the translator needs to be fired. My 9 year old step sister has better grammer. Huge turn off to this gamer. So I am on a quest to kill Mermen... They look like my dog...
The battle system is nothing to rave about, however, real time attack is something that I have been hoping the mmorpg industry would pursue. So kudos on that... But I am sure it could have been much better. So alright the quest is complete after completely obliterating the creatures.... Now why again were they a danger to the public? I pretty much sneezed and they scattered.
To sum it up, I understand this game is in beta... But it feels like the game is still in early Alpha. I admire the concepts... And yes the gamers are ready for some of them... But maybe a company with more money, skill, and devotion should take a shot at it. EA you could learn a thing or two from these guys. Alls I can say is good luck RYL, but WoW and UO:X will destroy your chances at succeding unless the game remains free... This will be a game removed from my PC.

Wow, this game is horrid. "FPS mode" LOLOLOL. Graphics suck bad. Weak interface, uninteresting all around. Hackers, etc. This game is just like Knight Online. Glad I know not to pay for this one.

As a beta tester i had only 3 reasons why this game wont succeed...
1. The camera angles is horrible...like the 3D 3rd person view aint good...thats the old style..new styles are now 3D 1st person view...
2. The graphics are ok..i love the sky...but the lands..mountains..aint soo good...
3. Hate..how warriors hold their 2h sword...and other weapons...
...well ...the only thing i DO love is the combat style...the way they swing the sword..and axes..is cool...
i would give this game a 6.5/10 rating..

Well when i started playing this game i like the PvP and how the gameplay was with the FPS mode. But overall the graphics....suck.... i mean has any one tried swimming, i literally feel out of my chair, when u try to get out of the water u start swimming in the ground... Secondly the transporting system with the portals is dull, i mean u have no clue really about where to go and stuff like that. There is such a giant leap from ur first class such as fighter and all of those to their upgrade classes such as warriors that one will pretty much lose all interest you had in the game to start with. Overall this game will never and i say again NEVER do good agains games like WoW DAoC or even Lineage 2. I would give this game a 5/10 at the most!

To launch english version thats as half asssed as this is a joke and an insult to our intelligence.
All npcs talk like some riddler on LSD. To buy you are actually selling to yourself O.o
Graphics are dated yet ok at same time.Effects cover up badly done graphics imo.
Chat system is cumbersome and old.
FPS / RTS system? Yeah right it aint even close guys come on. Whats the diffrence in ;
a) hitting auto attack and fighting and
b) holding down a key/mouse button to fight?
None except you interact with your avatar by holding down a key...wooppeedoo. NOT FPS at all.
Another sad boring repetative exp grind except this time we have added *fun* of trying to work out the sudo english talk.
Oh yes and they have tips flashing on top of screen during game ..ingame. Thats fine but one says "If you have trouble logging into game check status on official site" O.o an ingame message to help if you cant get ingame. oookkkaaaayy .

I just posted and Max beat me to it before I could ask.. Heh, good thing I can edit posts. I just wish people could research a game more before jumping at the thought, "Beta! That means free game to play!" The point is to work out the bugs in the game guys, not for a free MMORPG, although that is nice to have. Check these games out before you lessen the chances of other people wanting to test and play the game to actually participate.

I don't even THINK we have signed that NDA (unless mmorpg.com did). And if there was one... how come the RYL contest was allowed for the 18 and younger (to sign an NDA you need to be 18 and over). Looking at my age, I presume I do not meet any real criteria for the NDA.
Besides, its not like there IS anything special about RYL. Just another korean clone game.

But as I say, there isn't much to RYL (and if they don't have time to get good english or even checking their own official forums often, which is public, I don't think they actually check here).
I know, maybe if you took priston tale, and added a 3rd person view you get RYL. Not much.

Remember that you, the beta tester, was given the opportunity to playtest a pre-release game without charge. It's more than "free gaming", it's "making the game."
That's right, many of you don't give yourself nearly enough credit. Beta testers have a huge influence on the development of a game. Without you doing your part by reporting bugs and constructive changes there can be no functional game that is fun! If you can report one bug, just one bug, each day you play in the beta you will be doing your part. If every beta tester could submit at least one bug for each day of play, the games that you test can be nearly bug free!
Be proud for being a gamer. Be proud for being a beta tester.

Actually I'd really be interested in reading the NDA before saying more about RYL....
But as you should know by now, over 2/3rd don't give a damn about it....
I gotta say, though Max nailed it right too about that.... Most of the time we forget about that... I'm just saying my opinion here... Beta testing is fun for me... (way back to days I used to beta test really crappy games, but it was fun to me)....
On the other side I have a feeling of deja view for the community (D2 style).

There is a NDA, but I have never been communicated for that, my bad.
But as of digging more I can recall this from the unofficial FAQ:
Q: Where can I get the game? I wish to test it.
A: The game as of right now is only in closed beta testing. This means you need to be accepted and sign an NDA to test.
Q: What is an NDA.
A: Non-Disclosure Agreement. This mean you sign off that you will not release, post, or give away info. It also means you cant even tell your testing. Since this is a LEGAL contract. You must be of 18 years old or more to sign it. Because you the tester are responsible for making this game what it is.
So, basically, how DID mmorpg.com process our accounts, especially since we don't really sign for the NDA....
I'm 15 here, so I don't really fit for the NDA (I remember reading somewhere on the contests that it is 18 years and older only... but I got in the others)... It's odd, but I'm curious on how this works.
As good of an answer I can give is this:
This is just general, no specific game btw.
Let's say that you do break the NDA and post information about the game and say one of the games competitors gets that info and uses it to their advantage putting the game you are beta testing at a disadvantage. By "signing" ( and when I mean signing I mean clicking "I accept" on the terms of service before you play) the NDA you are under contractual obligation. Just with any contract if it is broken by either party, in this case it would be you (hypothetically of course) the publisher has the right to sue you for any and all damages done. Now say you live in the US and the game is in Korea. You could be sued using both the US laws or the Korean laws, depending on the situation. An example: When game pirates get busted they fall under international copyright laws, so in a sense you would as well. As far as being under age that can be handled different ways as well. If you are basing it on US laws then your parents would be soley responsible for any damages (and they would probably take it out of your @$$
) but remember, just because 18 is legal age in the US does not mean thats the age in Korea. It could be younger. Moral: Don;t take chances

To clarify, I am a game designer myself, and I know what to look for. The beta wouldnt be so bad if they hadnt worked out MANY of the SIMPLE bugs in the alpha. Many of the problems could have been fixed in less then one minute. This is a lazy act on the developer and programmers stand points. When working on games with my team we weed out bugs as they come. What we miss is for the beta testers to catch.
So far we have released no game specific details, and the NDA would have no competition against our posts. We mearly stated on the quality of graphics and game play, which the beta ttesters have no real control over. The most we can do about the graphics is say "yeah the graphics suck...".
We are supposed to seek technical faults, not visual blemishes and neglected programming. Also as beta testers we are some of the first to witness a game. Thus, the game should be eye catching. Now if the games flashiness cannot hold the interest of the beta testers, how can they even hope to hold out when they go gold?
There are issues with handing down beta rights, however, if we do not hand down our beta rights... They are going to lose many testers. Take it from a game designer, beta testers are very valuable, and sometimes the amount of testers outweigh the tech's specs. Although the tech spec's dont even come into play here since we provided no information. The most they know is our age and name, so there is in fact NOTHING illegal about handing down your beta rights.
Oh and for the person that said there are different age laws in Korea... Are we in Korea? No, so their laws cannot overide ours. These are civilian agreements to services, so we are no where near liable to the contract laws of Korea... I doubt they would even be close to grammaticaly correct anyways from what I have seen from the current text in the game.

Of course the primary objective is to identify bugs for a smoother game release. But if the game is just plain uninteresting and outdated, what good does that do? A crappy game thats bug free is still a crappy game.

I can semi-agree here, it isn't one of the best games i've seen, hell, it's pretty bad in general, young though, probably hope to be a deceant mmorpg. Easy to learn, easy to fight, its like a Diablo 2, but 3d style. This isnt a game you can play for a year + and still be happy with it, most will quit after a short while. Fun though, it entertained me for a while.

The game for me is more of a 3 month time filler. In fact, I can honestly NOT name an MMORPG right now that isn't that for me. Some might be 6 months, but I havn't found that *one* just yet. This game isn't that bad.. and the graphics.. those who are saying they are horrible are rediculous, have you seen some of the other MMORPG graphics?!? These are just fine for me, could be better.. havn't seen an MMORPG that couldn't have better graphics. The game is in early stages, I don't like to see it judged so harshly by people who are looking for a free ride.

well if you like to play RYL then go ahead...I dont know why your going to waste your timing...trying to lvl up ....it even takes 1 hour to lvl from10-11 at the gob warriors...like wtf? this game has turned into FF11 or everquest almost...
early stages? like what will the company do? nothing... their just going to fix the bugs and put in some quests...
