Refering back to a post a few pages ago:

I keep hearing the occasional poster saying this game will kill WOW etc. etc, everyone and his pet MMO-playing hamster will migrate, however I simply can not see it happening. There's a pages long thread on the WOW forums where someone tried to hype vanguard. No one really bothered refuting the OP of that thread, they simply laughed.

In point of fact Vanguard has had the opposite effect on me. I have waited for this game for over two years only to find my computer basically does not run it at a level I would deem anywhere close to acceptable. Then, when I went searching for a reason to upgrade to play the game, (replacing a computer to my mind requires some heavy justification, basically it had better be a damn fine game) all I found was a generic game (my opinion). The three spheres felt like a myth to me from the moment I logged in. It asked me to pick my adventuring sphere but I had to go and develop the other two. This killed any hope of equality for me. I had only ever been interested in the crafting and diplomacy. To me, as I would imagine with many others, first impression is everything. After that I took the suggestion offered by some of the posters on their beta forums and went back to WOW. I'm quite grateful actually, after seeing Vanguard WOW now seems a damn fine game to me.

If anything, the most over hyped, over rated game in the gaming world is WoW , plain and simple.  Don't kid yourself of it being the best or anything close to it.   It may be better then many of the games of it's kind, that's it but it's not all that either.  You have about as many players hate it as those who like it.                                                                                                                                                                                    I expect Vanguard to easily surpass it once it gets going.  Give this game a bit of time to iron out the kinks and it may surprise many people.  There's just no way you can accurately judge a game by either it's beta or by just playing it a few days as many have done here.   Beta does not offer all it has, no matter the game, ithey never do.   All it's content and fixes come along as the game does, with time.

Wow is not overrated, the ysimply took all the mmo elements and perfected it, That is wow for you. And vanguard will not have even a fraction of subscribers that wow now has...they annouced wow has hit 8 million subscribers in january 2007.

And it will keep increasing you know why? because people enjoy simple things in life and WOW is simple. There is nothing in the market which can even put a dent on WOW's popularity.

In a year, I doubt you will be around... but if you were, I'd love to refer you to this post =)

Oh anytime my friend. Everytime a new game comes out its labeled as WOW KILLER. First it was DNL and then ARCHLORD and God knows how many others are supposed to kill WOW.

I will be here and i hope after one year you will have place to hide your face. Wow will always be this famous. So please do yourself a favour and bookmark this thread and we will see in one year time.

Now dont get me wrong, I dont think VG is the wow killer, I do believe it will take some of WoW's players. The difference between now and Archlord and DNL.

Archlord and DNL were not mainstream games. ARchlord is a asian port, and DNL while some good ideas did not have a good financial or management base. These are 2 games that I would not call mainstream. Could they have done well? Sure in the right hands with the right publicity/management.

Where we are now. In 2007 we are looking at three MAJOR releases. Vanguard, Warhammer, and Conan. Vanguard is going to turn into the new PVE game if its managed well, War will most likely win the pvp system as Mythic/EA does have a good pvp system from DAOC and if they manage to bring a fraction of it over it will surpass wow's horrible system. Conan will be more of a nich game. Some will like it some wont.

Will any of these three games kill wow? no. Will all three of them releasing this year take a rather large toll on WoW? Yep. I will be blown away if we dont see the first wow server merge this year.

Not that a server merge is a bad thing, but there are some servers already in wow that are rather underpopulated. After these releases we will see more, and blizzard will need to deal wtih it.

I have book marked this thread, and in 2008 we can pull it up and see who is right or wrong.

    My prediction officially.

Vanguard and WAR will be a success, have decent numbers, conan will be smaller.

WoW will loose 20 - 40 % of its NA population, and we will see the first server merge before january.

God help the competition if and when Blizzard decides to release WoW II.  There would be no stopping a game like that coming from a company like Blizzard.

heh true, but I personally wont be playing another Blizzard mmo unless they manage to figure out how to get pvp working.

I understand pvp isnt for everyone, but when your game is based on pvp you need to get it right....or at least mostly right.

the problem is you dug up like 10 threads from 3 years ago to just copy and paste the same exact reply...why?

  • NevulusNevulus Member UncommonPosts: 1,288

I guess for us to report him.

I am thankful for his necro of old threads, I was pointing out to a friend why I no longer participate in this site, and here is a perfect example   :)

Seriously how stupid are you to bump like a dozen of three year old threads no one gives a fck about?

EDIT: nevermind, I just went through his other posts - turns out this guy is some kind of hardcore troll.

He deserves a thread on his own - 114 posts and not a single one in which he's not crying, bashing, trolling or insulting. I feel sorry for him - he must be a poor, lonely soul ^^

only prob with vanguard is its stuck on soes all in one dose not get the same dev support that eq2 gets there will never be an expansion if it was run right vanguard would be great.

has for eq2 i played for 5 years was great at the start but over the years they made it to much like wow .

  • AlyvianAlyvian Member Posts: 342

it is simple why it doesnt get as muich dev support as eq2 does. it only brings in a fraction of the cash eq2 does.

That is a seriously cool lookin' model. Seriously cool lookin'.

Edit: Apologies for my ignorance- but what game boasts this model? I can't place it..

That is exactly right, and we're not saying NO to save WoW, because it is already a lost cause. We are saying NO to dissuade the next group of greedy suits who decide to emulate Blizzard and Cryptic, etc.
We can prevent some of the future games from spewing this crap, but the sooner we start saying no, the better the results will be.
So - Stand up, pull up your pants, and walk away.

Actaully it is.  Reviving dead humans to raise an army of the dead is cool, dead forum threads ... not so much.
