Experience:

So, i had a diplomacy issue.

I went to silky venom.... Other than it not being able to load correctly (They have since switched hosting)... There was a thread on the subject.

I look at it, it didn’t have a resolution.

Went to Ten-ton-hammer. There’s a thread.... No resolution, no dev post.

Went to 4 other sites.... Each had a thread on this issue. No resolution, no dev post... Save for the most under populated site.

It had a thread, and a dev post.

Isn’t this great? I wasted an hour looking for a development post about a largely common issue, only to find ONE (1) dev post on the subject.... on the least visited site of the 20 they have listed.

What was that resolution you ask? "Keep an eye on the affiliate sites for the resolution to this problem".

"Sweet, witch one?"

Opinion:

I just want to say, if they are not going to provide the same services as other mmo's, then they need to lower my subscription by 2$.

Shirking off the responsibility of maintaining of community forums is sad. “Because we don’t want to deal with it” is a lame excuse.

Having to search 20 fan sites of debatable quality is frustrating, not to mention they all have speculative information, and some times contradict.

Trying to pass this off as an “Easer more reliable solution” is just completely unsupportive of your customer base, your wasting our time, because it is not.

Oh, but come on now. You're just being unreasonable.

Didn't you know that having to search through 20 different, often contradictory fansites is a much more hardcore, next-gen way of doing things? You wouldn't want to be spoonfed the information by getting it from the official site now, would you? That would just be too easy, and would ruin your gamer cred.

Just wait until they start posting by specialization, like some people hope. Not only will you have to patrol 20 different fansites for common issues, but you'd also have to go to fansites and message boards for each of the different races and professions in order to find out that you should watch the fansites for any developments.

What makes you think it would have been any differen if there was an official forum?  Do you think that same lone developer would have posted any differently? Or do you think a resolution would have been found already?

I would agree. It's a given with modern games that the company supply a website that contains the proper forums to answer player questions. Especially in this day and age of digital downloads which enables them to save money by not shipping a physical boxed product or providing a printed manual. I love the Silkyvenom site but come on, Sigil employees are not monitoring threads and answering question as part of their job. Relying on the fan base to perform such intrinsic duties as troubleshooting is just greedy bad business. I say that as someone who really likes Vanguard too. Give us a break on the subscription you cheap bastards.

The point is this-- with an official forum, he wouldn't have had to waste an hour to get a message from a dev that it was a known issue and that it was being worked on. It would have taken just a few minutes at best.

Instead, he had to go through 20 different sites looking for answers, only to find out that there wasn't one and that he should watch the fansites for information. How is that even remotely helpful?

Can you read? He was upset he had to visit 20 different sites to dig up information that should be readily available from one centralized location, since the question deals with game breaking technical issues.

He wasn't complaining about a fix or lack thereof. He was merely frustrated that the customer is treated like a red headed step child in terms of support because Sigil is to cheap/lazy to host a forum and pay someone to moderate.

    Jeez, Jesus.

The posting would have been in one place for one...on one site, the official one. I would not have had to hunt 10 different sites.

Also, any know workarounds by players would have all be contained in one, central place. Not 10 sites.

What don’t you get about this?

We all pay around 15$ for these games, we all expect the same level of support for the product and services we buy, why can vanguard charge the same, yet not supply this level of support for a subscription based services, while placing that role in the hands of its players..., and STILL charging the same amount. It not really about the money for me, its about the FRUSTRATION OF HAVING TO LOOK AT 20 SITES FOR ONE THING, when it could have been so simple to just look in one place.

As for “They are all a bunch of wine-fests” = “You reap what you sow” Cultivate a helpful community, and you will have one. Cultivate a wine session, and you will have one.

This is not the fans responsibility, we are the customers. It’s the publisher’s responsibility to ensure that your customers have the same level, if not better, support for your product as others on the market.

All while Frustrating the player base.

I guess you like wasting your time looking at 20 sites? Is that why each and every thread about this topic you post in support of a "Decentralized community"?

You know, that a "Decentralized community" has been used in the past?

    By an oppressive leadership/goverments.

"Keep them stupid, keep them apart, keep them uninformed, and you’ll have less chance of an uprising when you do something wrong".

    This is the same mentality.

Any problem I have had in game I have been able to resolve by asking my guild or politely asking people in the chat channels in game. Would this method have worked in your case Bloodworth?

I doubt it, because only nubcakes ask questions in general chat without first researching on the web to solve their own problems and the OP does not sound like a nubcake.

And that is regardless of the question which was related to diplomacy that not everyone does, etc, etc, etc.

No, come to find out that the line of diplomacy parlays are simply bugged, and impassable, And require a patch due to imbalances.

Point is, i had to search 20 sits to find this out. And i did ask in game, everyone attempted 1000000's of different ways to bet them. But the root issues was that it was a mathematical impossibility at that stage in your diplomats career. IE: 1 in 200 chance of wining a noobish quest.

I had already exhausted all in game help of other players.

After asking a few time in the /dip chat, and getting the response of "I’m stuck there also" i went to the web.

Your opinion is a bit childish. People who need answers ask them in a civilized manner of their guild or the people around them, not "nubcakes" as you so eloquently stated it. And also, a lot more people do diplomacy than you obviously think.

I agree with the OP, however...its not going to change (at least, not any time soon) so might as well make the best of it.

If enough people speak out, it will change.

Sad thing is, we have no centrial place to speak out.

Pretty sure you're fabricating and/or exaggerating at least part of your OP and this. You make it sound way worse than it is. Fact of the matter is, it's not really difficult at all to get an answer. lol, I'm done replying to your posts after this, because it's pretty apparent that you want to hate this game.

The more I read these Vanbois.. the more I really hate a game.. that I have never played...

Honestly you guys are worse then WoW fanbois... and that is a tough act to follow... I was looking for a new MMO to play .. and thought maybe this would be it.. but after seeing the horrid fanbase.. I have decieded to pass and keep looking... really you guys are not doing this game you claim to love .. any service at all...

The OP has a legitimate concern... why doesn't Vanguard have an official forum??

    once again

Funny, I haven’t been "Bashing" this game. I only see people with dislikes, complaints or issues with aspects of the game.

So, i guess that if you don’t happen to like 1 thing about vanguard, and post about it in the hopes that it may get changed, then your a basher.

    Nice.

This type of post was so 3 weeks ago. Please remove it, its clogging up other relevant postings.

Ummm, most mmo's require a sub to post on their forums.    I dont see how your comment applies.

And to the OP, I'm with you all the way, not having official forums is not a good thing.
