Any problem I have had in game I have been able to resolve by asking my guild or politely asking people in the chat channels in game. Would this method have worked in your case Bloodworth?
I doubt it, because only nubcakes ask questions in general chat without first researching on the web to solve their own problems and the OP does not sound like a nubcake.
And that is regardless of the question which was related to diplomacy that not everyone does, etc, etc, etc.
Exactly, Some people like being self reliant in the sense they try to look up the answers themselves instead of appearing helpless ingame.
There is no legitimate excuse for not hosting official forums. The reason they chose not to is to avoid the massive complaints they knew were coming because of releasing an incomplete buggy product.
sort of like how vanguard devs won't post here, or respond to pms, because everyone on this site doesn't kiss their butts 24/7.
VERY professional and deserving of all our money. just based upon their refusal to be there to support their playerbase, based ONLY on that affront, i hope they fail miserably.
could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?
edited to add: i just want to point out that the op DID state he finally found a dev post on the issue. so, what aspect of this game are you more of an expert on than one of the game's devs? you seem to think that random people ingame, and yourself on this board, would know more and give a better answer than one of the game's devs?
seriously?
Seriously? Think before you respond. Where did i say i or people on forums or ingame know more. READ AND THEN REACT kid please !

Unlike some little kids on these forums when people experiance bugs or problems ingame most of us playing will and are reporting them ingame and on the official tech support site. I really see no reason why Sigil or SOe for that matter would spend any energy on sites like this as this is not one of their "affilinated site" (misspelled blu.....)
What i also find very wierd to read all this BS about asskissing as most people that play the game are 100% more honost then the "haters" Those who play never states there are no bugs or there are no performance issue, we all are aware of that. But the amount of how its blown out of porposion by "haters" is truly unbelieveble.
And then you have people like Damian7 who is only consurned about his presious self. Really never thought that gamers could be that selfish to hope things fail where other might have fun. Really you have to ask yourself...........

maybe i should go ask ingame.
i did read. you obviously didn't.
he POSTED that he found a dev reply in his post.
you supposedly read that post, then replied to it.
in it, you asked numerous times if he'd asked ingame, along with little emoticons, and acted as if he was a fool for not asking ingame.
so, you SAW that he found a dev post, and insisted he should've asked 1 ingame and 2 here (so that you might could give an answer).
since he had posted he'd found a dev reply about the problem BEFORE you posted that, it would directly imply that you might/could/do know more than the dev that replied and/or random people ingame would know.
reading is fundamental in some cultures. now, next time, try reading what was typed, and not what random people ingame tell you was typed. mmmkay? thanks.

sorry that i pointed out where you missed the guy found a dev answer and e-embarrassed you. i mean, i'm sorry that you ranted on and on about the op should be ignoring the dev reply and instead be asking random noobs ingame for help.
soe and/or sigil shouldn't be spending any time on ANY fansites. they should have one set of forums, a central location as it were, where they can effectively disseminate information to their PAYING customerbase. if you actually read the op, you'd see that he wasted an hour searching the *popular* fansites and it was only on one of the not-so-visited sites that he finally found a dev response. they (soe/sigil) should worry about getting their house in order BEFORE going out and trying to find people that love them and only share information with those people. you want the formula on pissing off and alienating your playerbase? soe THOUGHT they'd perfected it, but seems mcquaid took everything he learned while working on eq and cranked it up a few levels to the uber-player-alienation of VG.
this vanguard game has no official forums. so where exactly is the fansite dedicated to shamen? where are the fansites dedicated to the individual crafting professions? cuz, from the "official soe" site, it's kinda lacking for shaman and several other classes and has i think one site for crafting/harvesting listed.
explain in tiny words how this way of passing information is effective for devs and/or the players.
players have to search a variety of different sites. some will have contradictory information. devs would have to post on all the soe-listed official fansites in order to do what they're advertising and that is passing information thru fansites.
i'm sorry that you decided to v-lemming this thread. but the decentralized forum thing is total crap. the entire team that's behind this idea needs to be sacked and replaced with rabid spiders.
calilng me bad names might make you feel better, but it just doesn't change the facts of your wrongly-ranting at the op and of VG's staff making one horrid decision after another. but i do like how they always try to pawn off responsibility on every one else. and statements like "we had no control of when we'd release the game" while the same person also posts "we made a commitment over a year ago, to a release date, and we decided we'd honor that release date". so, seeing as mcquaid made BOTH statements, i don't think his contradictory style of MISinformation should be afforded any slack at all ever.. until they get a pair and make official forums and own up to the monster they've created.
how long was this game in the making? how long beta? how long was wow in the making? how long in beta?
let's see, this would be around the three month point in wow being in retail, right? say 2 months plus a little. at that point, my friends and i were complaining that the lag in the major city (where everyone would be at one time) was insane. but, for the most part, we were out exploring and killing and having a grand ole time. most of those guys haven't even made it thru the 30 days free play on this game. i saw a post a bit ago about someone being excited about the patch notes for the next one. i saw nothing in those notes that made me go "yay".
i still can't find ANY place that shows mcquaid's mythical 5 year plan. but he does refer to it a lot. since i'm an ignorant child and i can't get ingame at the moment, perhaps you could point me to this 5 year plan so i can see when the COOL stuff is due to be added to VG? mmmkay? that'd be swell. i'd ask ingame, but well, i'm not at my crib atm. sorry, can't ask ingame for a while.
maybe just MAYBE you'll get this 'reading with comprehension' thing down.
i'll type slowly and try to use small words...
mcquaid cares so little about you, the player, having fun with this game he's created, that he (and soe and sigil), consciously, refuses to host sites/pages/forums which would be of benefice to YOU, the player. if any of these "fansites" go down, oh well, too bad, maybe you should look at another site or just figure it out on your own, because "we" (we being sigil/soe and MCQUAID) don't care enough about YOU (the player) to host information about our $30 million flop and we want YOU (the player) to show your love and devotion by dedicating your time and/or money to host sites and forums for US (mcquaid/soe/sigil) and every blue moon, we (mcquaid/soe/sigil) MIGHT post information about a fix to a bug, or let you guys know about a problem we're fixing, or might comment on how classes and such should work. but if we don't, too bad, cuz we (m/s/s) don't care about you (the PAYING customer) enough to concern ourselves with how you're enjoying/not enjoying the game, just keep paying us.
please, keep paying them. show the world that you WANT to be treated like dog caca.
me, i'll be an incredibly vocal viral marketing toy against jerk offs that pull this crapola.

Just was a proposal to maybe next time ask someone ingame or on this forum.

True never argued about not finding things needed and would be great to have one common place for info but you see that wasn't the thing i was talking about as i repsonded with other questions as you might have noticed (or not).
explain in tiny words how this way of passing information is effective for devs and/or the players. No need it can be done much beter then they have now but when playing mmorpg allot of info also comes from the community, like you say about stuff like knowing things about shaman or what ever proffesion.
players have to search a variety of different sites. some will have contradictory information. devs would have to post on all the soe-listed official fansites in order to do what they're advertising and that is passing information thru fansites. I truly have no clue why Sigil has taken that approuche in the way they handle forums and get scattered all over the place making it atleast from my viewpoint much harder to manage.
i'm sorry that you decided to v-lemming this thread. but the decentralized forum thing is total crap. the entire team that's behind this idea needs to be sacked and replaced with rabid spiders.
calilng me bad names might make you feel better, Sorry what bad names?

Like i said if you truly had read what i said then you saw i asked questions, if the OP would come he might just simply have answered them telling me for example he tried asking people ingame and that didn't work for him. And again like i said if he had given more details it would be a much clearer post. But Nah you felt compeled to twist words into something not meant that harsh as you try to let it sound.
how long was this game in the making? how long beta? how long was wow in the making? how long in beta?

I really don't know his 5year plan and quite frankly why should i care i have fun now and when that fun is over i move on. You don't have to be a ignorant child if only you tried to read and understand what peopel say
maybe just MAYBE you'll get this 'reading with comprehension' thing down.

So? should i now cry and weep about it . hahaha, i only play games bro, real time dedication goes to far more importent things then worry if mr Brad thinks about me LOL Don't worry the only thing the "paying" customer" needs to worry about is picking hte right game that is fun for them and when they have made a bad choice then state your opinion and move on to hte fun people like and thats to have fun in a game and if people are disgrunted by the lack of information i can honostly understand if that might set people off to dislike a game.
please, keep paying them. show the world that you WANT to be treated like dog caca. Oh yeah i plan to, afcourse we also have people that buy siggarettes/alcohol/drugs ect ect..... But NEEEEEE lets not pay subfee for a game, might become a disaster to the world someday. Like i said i presume you are a kid and you still have allot to learn.
me, i'll be an incredibly vocal viral marketing toy against jerk offs that pull this crapola.
Its like Mrbloodworth was shouting "Hey guys with this amount of money we pay the car dealer(Sigil), we should have one of those red sport cars(forum) for free. I have seen it at other car dealers." and the answer he gets is "A free sports car?... are you stupid or what! When you can take taxi(goggle) instead. Idiot"
But then again what do I know. I only played SV for a week.
Sure. you can Google it, but why should you? You're paying to play. Don't you think you deserve a bit more than just a bunch of fansites to surf around to in the hopes that a dev might feel inclined to post there?
Sigil is not only charging full retail for the game box, but they're ALSO charging $15 a month to play the game, just like most other MMO's. I don't know about anyone else, but if I'm paying to play a game, I absolutely expect some level of customer service. I expect an official message board with sections for everything from developer feedback and technical issues, to player suggestions and ideas, class and profession forums, and even server forums, where the players from each server get together and socialize.
That should be what we as MMO players expect from a company that we're paying in order to play their game. They should offer something to the people who are putting money in their pockets.
Making you Google what is actually a common game issue, or surf around to a bunch of fansites? Pfft. That's just laziness on their part. They owe their customers more than that.
Convectus(Hero)/KombatJesus(Villain) from Pinnacle. . .
As far as I know the developers aren't obligated to provide these kinds of things. If you expect them thats fine for you, but they aren't necessary to keep the game running. And in the long run the developers are going to do what they think is good for the game no matter what player suggestions and different things we give them.
SWG. . .did they roll back CU due to the overwhelming player response?
I think service on technical issues including the possibility of in game bugs is required and they already have such forums. . .general questions about the game, good strategies, rant threads, etc. . .do not need to be included in any one forum.
Even with COH/COV I went to gameamp before even bothering with the official forums at all, and even in the official forums you find that things are more difficult to find because of all of the quadruplicate(lol) posts about the same topics amongst all of the piss poor ideas, etc.
The only developer feedback I expect to see is in the patch notes and in the performance of the game. Everything else would just be gravy.
And therein lay the difference between a successful MMO with a community whom have respect for its developers, and the total opposite model, a model that vanguard is following.
They arnt making a game for themselves, they are making a game for their playing customer base....without those people they do not exist.
And in regards to SWG, the market has changed so much since the heady heights of SWG glory days that i am sure an action such as what was conducted by SOE is something most current and future MMO developers whom wish to have a successful product and thriving customer base will steer well well clear of.
The days of arrogant god like status for game developers whom believe they wield wizardry above and beyond the contemplations of the mere paying customer are well and truly dieing......trust me i know.
It's easier to avoid your customer base when you have them scattered like that.. also helps prevent a domino effect of people figuring out how much Vanguard blows.
But on the plus side.. browsing through all those sites was probably more fun than actually playing the game.

this vanguard game has no official forums. so where exactly is the fansite dedicated to shamen? where are the fansites dedicated to the individual crafting professions? cuz, from the "official soe" site, it's kinda lacking for shaman and several other classes and has i think one site for crafting/harvesting listed.
I truly have no clue why Sigil has taken that approuche in the way they handle forums and get scattered all over the place making it atleast from my viewpoint much harder to manage.
i'm sorry that you decided to v-lemming this thread. but the decentralized forum thing is total crap. the entire team that's behind this idea needs to be sacked and replaced with rabid spiders.
calilng me bad names might make you feel better, Sorry what bad names?
but it just doesn't change the facts of your wrongly-ranting at the op and of VG's staff making one horrid decision after another. but i do like how they always try to pawn off responsibility on every one else. and statements like "we had no control of when we'd release the game" while the same person also posts "we made a commitment over a year ago, to a release date, and we decided we'd honor that release date". so, seeing as mcquaid made BOTH statements, i don't think his contradictory style of MISinformation should be afforded any slack at all ever.. until they get a pair and make official forums and own up to the monster they've created. Like i said if you truly had read what i said then you saw i asked questions, if the OP would come he might just simply have answered them telling me for example he tried asking people ingame and that didn't work for him. And again like i said if he had given more details it would be a much clearer post. But Nah you felt compeled to twist words into something not meant that harsh as you try to let it sound.
how long was this game in the making? how long beta? how long was wow in the making? how long in beta?
let's see, this would be around the three month point in wow being in retail, right? say 2 months plus a little. at that point, my friends and i were complaining that the lag in the major city (where everyone would be at one time) was insane. but, for the most part, we were out exploring and killing and having a grand ole time. most of those guys haven't even made it thru the 30 days free play on this game. i saw a post a bit ago about someone being excited about the patch notes for the next one. i saw nothing in those notes that made me go "yay". bla bla bla
i still can't find ANY place that shows mcquaid's mythical 5 year plan. but he does refer to it a lot. since i'm an ignorant child and i can't get ingame at the moment, perhaps you could point me to this 5 year plan so i can see when the COOL stuff is due to be added to VG? mmmkay? that'd be swell. i'd ask ingame, but well, i'm not at my crib atm. sorry, can't ask ingame for a while.
I really don't know his 5year plan and quite frankly why should i care i have fun now and when that fun is over i move on. You don't have to be a ignorant child if only you tried to read and understand what peopel say
maybe just MAYBE you'll get this 'reading with comprehension' thing down.
i'll type slowly and try to use small words...
mcquaid cares so little about you, the player, having fun with this game he's created, that he (and soe and sigil), consciously, refuses to host sites/pages/forums which would be of benefice to YOU, the player. if any of these "fansites" go down, oh well, too bad, maybe you should look at another site or just figure it out on your own, because "we" (we being sigil/soe and MCQUAID) don't care enough about YOU (the player) to host information about our $30 million flop and we want YOU (the player) to show your love and devotion by dedicating your time and/or money to host sites and forums for US (mcquaid/soe/sigil) and every blue moon, we (mcquaid/soe/sigil) MIGHT post information about a fix to a bug, or let you guys know about a problem we're fixing, or might comment on how classes and such should work. but if we don't, too bad, cuz we (m/s/s) don't care about you (the PAYING customer) enough to concern ourselves with how you're enjoying/not enjoying the game, just keep paying us. So? should i now cry and weep about it . hahaha, i only play games bro, real time dedication goes to far more importent things then worry if mr Brad thinks about me LOL Don't worry the only thing the "paying" customer" needs to worry about is picking hte right game that is fun for them and when they have made a bad choice then state your opinion and move on to hte fun people like and thats to have fun in a game and if people are disgrunted by the lack of information i can honostly understand if that might set people off to dislike a game.
please, keep paying them. show the world that you WANT to be treated like dog caca.
Some answers in this Topic a rather silly.

As far as I know the developers aren't obligated to provide these kinds of things. If you expect them thats fine for you, but they aren't necessary to keep the game running. And in the long run the developers are going to do what they think is good for the game no matter what player suggestions and different things we give them.
Look at Enhancement Diversification, Issue 3, Issue 5, Issue 6. . .
SWG. . .did they roll back CU due to the overwhelming player response?

Mag
It's easier to avoid your customer base when you have them scattered like that.. also helps prevent a domino effect of people figuring out how much Vanguard blows.
But on the plus side.. browsing through all those sites was probably more fun than actually playing the game.
reminds me of WoW fourms and how lazy they were there....they are prolly equal, but VG prolly wins for worst forum responses
I play all ghame
