One of the greatest aspects of the internet is that the way it was created, and the way people respond to it's existance, is amazing. It's a virtual world where one can lie about his age on public forums so as not to be a target of malicious users whom may or may not have the intent of procuring and sending keyloggers or anything of the sort in my direction, for anyone under 18 is usually not suspected of using the web for anything important, such as paying my bills or logging on to government sites.
Please ask a question about your doubts before assuming. Or better yet, if you think someone is full of shit, it solves nothing pointing it out on a game website. Only thing it does is causes one to make up some drastic excuse and makes people waste their time reading it.

I think there are probably a lot of people who can see the potential but have lost interest because of the amount of time it's taken so far and the lack of regular status updates. They're really pushing our attention span limits. If this game does finally launch and is everything it's cracked up to be and still flops, I think the developers really have to attribute much of the blame to themselves. Hopefully, that won't be the case.

I don't think people say it's going to fail so much as they've given up hope that it's going to get released. I think everyone would be elated if it went into some kind of public beta. I think most would be thrilled at just some sort of regular status updates. It would, at least, remind us the game still exists.

Because level based grinds, and Quests for loot are used to milk the customer. That has to be protected. PVP and levels, plus stat modded loot dont work in those games other than a pvp server. And its mostly ganking with no real loss. There are no real hard core games because no one has made one. And why would they make one when than can keep milking people for years with the same concept. Its not that there are no hard-core PVP'ers if thats what your implying. Its just hard to get them to continually paying a sub fee....they tend to not want to go collect 5 fish then return for 3 silver coins!! or camp a spot for 57 hours for boots and take 3 months to a year to level before being able to really experience the PVP.
(edit) original UO is how hard-core PVP want games like these. I would prefer something more severe even. I wasnt meaning pvper wanted instant gratification.

Any game thats been in dev as long as darkfall has been has issues or is under funded. Both situations are bad.
Simple fact is at least IMO that any Semi-turn based game that relies on weapon speed, a skill system and/or level system or any system that takes the skill out of the players hand is not true Hardcore PvP.
No save zones anywhere no instance free for all with a combat with strafe no stats no health bars no name no autoattack auto lock total freedom loot corpses you kill and more...:)

If you are going to comment on the grammar of others you may want to make sure you have checked yours. I won’t bother to rip apart yours; my point will be proven whenever anyone reads your vacuous ramblings.
Don't worry about trying to convince forest-nl that Darkfall with be another Dark and Light and so forth. You won't sway his opinion that DF will be the best thing that ever happened to online gaming.
Now for my worthless opinion on the topic.
DF was first announced in 2001. A guild I've been with for quite a few MMOs now signed up to their guild beta invite and was accepted.. back in 2002/2003. Due to 'repeated unforseen' delays it's now 2007 and the guild beta is still 'just around the corner'.
All we've seen is a few screenshots and a couple of gameplay movies that could have quite easily been cooked up for hype. Hell Valve did it with HL2 years ago only to be caught out a little while later, and Valve have a far higher public rep that a developer I'd never heard of prior to the DF announcement.
During mid-January this year I read that the devs now had a stable beta running off remote servers. Now all they needed were publishers, distributors, server farms and so forth since I'm guessing they don't have the cash to be able to do this themselves. WIthout these, DF will fail simply because they won't be able to get it out to people.
If they manage it, then DF ought to succeed assuming the things the developers have promised over the years actually make it into the game without having it crash and burn.
One other nagging thought that was bugging me over the years when I thought about DF. The devs promised a FPS-style gameplay where you had to aim your spells, sword blows etc. Now if there aren't adequate server farms located all over the world then I doubt DF will have much appeal due to the whole bandwidth latency issues. Sure with most point-and-click mmos (eg WoW) it's not a problem when it comes to fine tuning your aim, it's going to matter.. a lot.
So lets just hope they succeed in getting a few heavy weights on board to help get this product out to people before it does indeed become vaporware.
And ffs people get off your pet-mmo bandwagons and discuss something worthwhile.

Whether or not I agree with a person, I think it's nice when someone is enthusiastic about a game they're interested in. For all the fanboism, I find them to be more palatable than the jaded haters. When a person has nothing to say about a subject, or is bad at expressing themselves, they mock that person's English or grammar. I notice it happens a lot here and always find it sort of sad. One of the nice things about this site is that it has so many people from so many different countries discussing games. When I visit the Netherlands, nearly everyone who speaks to me does so using English. It's sort of embarrassing that I visit countries and can barely speak a word of their language while they make all the effort.
(of course, in Holland, I'm usually coming out of a smoking cafe and they could be speaking martian and I'd still love everyone )
