There are peeps who hope and believe this game will someday be released to public and some who hate games like darkfall for there hardcore pvp and hope it never will.
Future will tell if these guys deliver and when they do im very positive they release a brilliant non eq/wow clone that will shock the mmo gameing world:)

Open pvp means that pvp happens everywhere, or at least the vast majority of the world, and I enjoy games like that, but I do not care for looting since it adds annoying downtime, a bigger timesink and reduced the amount of pvp encounters.

I think a lot of people will jump on this game when it goes to beta. Nothing like it (even Eve) is out there, and there is a large group of old players just lurking and waiting for something like this... "Real freedom" and real gameplay without "endgame" or any of these terms associated with more popular and current MMO's.
Heck, most don't have a clue what it's like, because by the time they started playing MMO's UO had already been trivialised into abomination.

Darkfall, or any other game that is predicted to cater to the "hardcore pvpness" crowd is doomed to fail. Why you ask? Because the "hardcore" crowd consists 98% of talk and 2% of walk. Most people I've met along the way who are actually really into PvP aren't anticipating a game that has gone for years without an update. These players are looking forward to another "mainstream" title with semi-required PvP goals. Warhammer Online is a much more reliable MMO that has a mixture of both PvP and PvE. The whole game revolves around PvP objectives that influence the world. Also, most of these people have had one of their most "perfect" games, Ultima Online, ruined by expansions and content that was built to suit the most more robust PvE crowd.
I imagine that the usual "hardcore pvper" is a bit jaded when it comes to games that are banking on a PvP heavy environment. Especially if this game is not backed by a company with a good track record.
Goodluck following this webpage...err MMO in the future. My PvP itch is still waiting to be scratched by a game with a reliable backing.

Warhammer looks fun, but it's more of an MMOfps style "pick up and play" game. Darkfall more of a serious world, and looks fun in that sence.
It's all in what you want, and what you are willing to give in support of a true PvP world, as opposed to game. I not worried about who is developing the game, in fact I'm reassured that it's not a company run by a board or investment committee.
It's being built by a small core of developers in a small somewhat unknown development studio. The motto "no compromise" is also reasuring and more believeable because of this. (just look what happened to Vanguard, many compromises)
So yeah it may take time, and it still could fold and dissappear... dissappointing maybe, but by showing active support for such concepts makes the realisation of them more a possibility.
So if we all were "show me" types or only followed the herd, we could only expect more generic games.
Are you satisfied with what's out there now? If so, I need say no more.

Actually, more than six years. They started developing it in Q3, 2001. Razorwax merged with Aventuine SA in 2002 and moved to Greece. It was only last month they said they had a playable beta version. I don't think they've given a date for beta yet, although I think they've said a few times they have an internal beta going on.
