you obviously dont know how to use your skills properly or have yet to puchase foods to assist you in combat . There is a lengthy list of items to help including friendly buffs from other players . You dont need a group to trecieve the buffs either. I find it hard to beleive that you want another game of WOW the game was never suppose ot be easy . They didnt put the easy button in this game from what I remember. Go back to Turf battles or something where you can gain 50 levels in 30min. Your a sad excuse for a warrior and its time for me to move on to other flames of idots that dont want to learn the game. C-YA
At what point did I say I wanted another WOW, have you even been in game after the patch? Everyone else I've spoken to says they've noticed their mitigation doing less to help them than just before the patch. My whole point was that SAME mobs that I had no problem with a few hours earlier were now all of a sudden kicking the crap out of me. The update didn't list anything about mitigation/defense decrease or even scaling the difficulty of mobs.
I obviously knew how to play my character a few hours ago before the patch when I wasn't having any trouble at all, and apparently somehow in the last couple hours I've completely forgotten how to play my character effectively...oh dear.
I appreciate your attempt at making an intelligent post, but it appears you have failed miserably.
Aren't you missing a breast-feeding from your mother or something?
Honestly I've been in denial about this game since Sigil decided to partner up with SOE, whom a lot of the gaming community has come to refer to as the "Almighty wielders of the nerf bats..." From Sony's name all over the game, as well as the forums, to the install folders for God sake! I had too much respect for Sigil to think they would let Sony take the reigns of a game that was in development for so long. I was hoping Sigil wouldn't let Sony the babysitter throttle their baby, but alas I was wrong. It appears Sony has done it again, as this last "emergency patch" was overriden with nerfs, raising the costs of combat abilities unecessarily, nerfing various classes and statistics like defense and damage mitigation, making an already solo-unfriendly game to another one of those "standing in town LFG for hours on end" types of games, a word of advice, most people don't want to play a game where half their game time is spent in town looking for groups. One would think fixing the problems with game functionality would be their first priority.
I had such high hopes for this game as did a lot of my close friends from other games that were going to migrate over to this game with me in the upcoming months, at least now I can tell them to save their money. I log onto my warrior whom I've already invested easily 100 hours into trying to make money and buy armor to raise my defense and mitigation in preparation for the daunting task of leveling a warrior, a "tank" class primarily solo. Upon logging in I get to see all my effort and time invested to upgrade my gear has been for nothing, as before this patch I was able to to solo mobs 2-3 levels lower than me in groups of 2-3 reasonably well, with little downtime, only to get back on the game after the patch and have the EXACT same mobs almost kill me. Seeing as how my mitigation means nothing now, and that it will be nigh impossible to level my warrior up solo at this point, I'll likely be moving on to the next game and bringing my close friends here and from other games with me. I hope Sigil learns their lesson, their heart was in the right place, but I suppose everyone has a price...
Anyone else that is of the same mentality please feel free to post your thoughts to save others like us in the gaming community the unecessary frustration.
Maybe you think one shot killing is fun. Maybe you think running from point A to the other side of the world, point B in 3 seconds is fun, but there are many more out there that play games for the challenge.
I'd suggest you go back and read the FAQ. It's been stated so many times that the game is meant to be hard and lets face it there are a lot of classes right now that make the game a cake walk.
Sounds to me that those things should have been taken care of during beta, after all thats what its for.
I just went from wanting to play this, back to wanted to not.

I agree with Darksolitude. I want my money back. Bought the game with a visa and will see about returning it, then most likely disputing the charges as the game fails to work as advertised. At least it crashes all the time and gives us an excuse to return it.
Been playing on trial buddy key and enjoying it myself. I have decided to hold off on purchase though becuase of what one poster said above. Sigils priorities right now should be on game optimization so the game runs better and is mor stable. Worry about class changes when that has been taken care of, period. So I personally am going to put this buy on the back burner to see if things turn around in the coming months.
Anyone who was paying attention knew that Vanguard was going to be solo unfriendly and raid centric, even though Brad and company lied and said Vanguard would satisfy all types of gamers. The game mechanics are specifically designed to limit achievement to forced grouping, so wether you are a hardcore soloer or casual gamer does not matter, you will always be a second class citizen in Vanguard unless you group and raid.
The removal of a centralized forum is right out of SOE's playbook. It's what they did with the original EQ1 forums when they shut them down because it allowed the playerbase to unify and voice complaints that SOE did not want to acknowledge and Gordon Wrinn couldn't manage the boards effectively.
SOE is clearly involved in the decision making process of Vanguard, they were instrumental in pushing for an early release even though the game is not polished and still in beta.

WoW you clearly know nothing about this game's development. While I agree VG is a horrible mess the removal of forums was part and parcel a planned thing done by Sigil. Even when they were signed up with Microsoft the dev's and Brad let everyone know via their extensive faq that there would be no forums after launch. Please don't make yourself look like anymore of fool by blaming this on SOE. Take off you SOE hating tinfoil hate and relax.
As for the early release well you can only blame SOE in that they wanted to see their investment come back before sinking any more cash into VG black hole. Then again if it weren't for Sigil signing on with SOE the game known as VG would be vaporware. Especially after Sigil bought out their contract from Microsoft and effectively forced themselves to run out of cash prematurely.
This is a Sigil game all the way. This is the vision of Brad and Sigil. SOE was just dumb ( or smart if you look at it from another angle ) to offer Brad and Sigil a deal to publish the game under the SOE banner since no one else wanted this mess of a game.
Games I've played/tried out:WAR, LOTRO, Tabula Rasa, AoC, EQ1, EQ2, WoW, Vangaurd, FFXI, D&DO, Lineage 2, Saga Of Ryzom, EvE Online, DAoC, Guild Wars,Star Wars Galaxies, Hell Gate London, Auto Assault, Grando Espada ( AKA SoTNW ), Archlord, CoV/H, Star Trek Online, APB, Champions Online, FFXIV, Rift Online, GW2.
I also had high hopes for VG. After this patch my confidence in the devs (i dont care if its sigil or SOE) has been shaken. I am also a warrior, even before this nerf patch I still had a good bit of trouble soloing, but now, wow, I can't solo anything.
I realize the flames towards this post are "What did you expect, an easy game?" But honestly, with a world so massive and so little of a population, it really is extremely difficuilt to find anyone to group with. Even if you do find a group, usually they are half retarded and end up wiping. Anything that Smedly is able to fuck up, fucks up, wether SOE is developing it or not, this game is fucked beyond beleif after this patch. Unless they unfuck what they fucked up tonight, I see this game ending up like SWG. Im not one for crying, I love a nice challenge in a game, but sheesh. Between the bugs and the new nerf patch, its damn near impossible.
Screwing Warriors is Brad's forte, go play WoW, and I say that as a good thing! Brad hates the Warrior class and spends all his free time deciding how to screw the class next, the most played class in EQ was utter crappolla and ditto or worse in Vanguard. Move games and let Vanguard die as a message to him.
If you have any questions please ask. I have moved on to WoW from eq and no longer have any desire to play a dead game. Thank you. (posted by another selling his account in EQ1)
Wow you clearly don't listen or comprehend well what you've read. The timing of the announcement to not have an official forum is not an indicator for or against Samuraisword's theory. I happen to believe Samuraisword's theory is plausible.
I would like to thank the OP for this thread as it has saved me from buying this broken game. To all you folks that come on here and bash folks for complaining about the fucked up game they bought, I implore you to stay out of the forums and in game. If you see nothing wrong with paying for a game that is full of bugs and runs like a model T with three tires than your a dumb ass..plain and simple.
Right on! I was telling everyone how bad this game was and no one listened, this is a gas to read. It gets sold lock, stock, and barrel to SOE next while Brad moves on to his "sequel" and you get stuck holding the bag! Next if you don't raid ungodly amounts of hours a week your character becomes unplayable in the new expansions till you gear every slot with your present expansions best raid gear, A.K.A. tanks in EQ. Then they cancel the whole thing after they have no players! Here is laughing at you, there are 800 players in WoW for every ONE playing Vanguard!

He provides no evidence other then irrational assumptions and unproven claims. Again the idea behind not having official forums is a Sigil move. End of Story.

That seems to be his and Sigil's "Modus operandi".

I'm not sure exactly how SOE relates to the "nerfing" itself. If they control all the character attributes and monitor the gameplay so closely what exactly does Sigil do?
Was with two others in gataros cave and hunted 3dot priests including adds. We even killed a named on the beach. All three of us lvl14. I didnt felt nerfed but exited, because it needs a bit of skill to survive gataros or adds with a team of three. We could even manage the 4 gataros at the entrance...
This game is a mountain. Rough and dangerous. Do you have what it takes to climb it ? Or do you prefer to whine about bugs, nerfs and low performance ? Then go to the other mountain and take the cable car.

Heh, I appreciate the optimism...my glass is more like half empty.
Sigil developed the game, for those of you that ACTUALLY purchased and installed the game, Sony's name is literally all over it. Not to mention Sony completely obliterated the original Vanguard forums that was created by Sigil that had threads specifically meant for player feedback. As Sigil, at least originally cared about it's players feedback and overall satisfaction with the game.
Sorry to burst your bubble but Sigil is pulling the strings of this one. SOE provides servers, billing, marketing, tech support and distribution. Hence why their logo is all over it. Just like movies that are released by Pixar are distributed by Disney so they have the Disney logo all over them even though Disney was just the distributor, etc... Brad himself has said so about SOE. If you don't believe Brad then who are you gonna believe? Probably nobody.
Brad said HE didn't want official forums because it builds communities. SOE didn't take down the forums. All other SOE games have forums, Vanguard is the only one that doesn't.
While I don't dispute what you're saying here, the fact of the matter is Sony is providing the money, right? As of right now VG is in Sony's pocket. And I would assume when it comes to money Sony is actually pulling the strings.
So from a business standpoint here's what it equates to:
Making the game more difficult = More game time (in order to level up & get the things you want, you're going to have to play longer)
More game time = More monthly subscriptions
More monthly subscriptions = More $$$ for Sony & VG
So if Sony is writing the checks, I would guarantee they have a lot of say in the game mechanics. It just makes business sense.
However if they piss-off enough people it just might bite them in the ass. Sony will live on, but the poor peeps at Sigil...

That is what is frightening, and some of the dweeb fanbois bought into the lies after being warned repeatidly about his B.S..
Funny things is - when you go into a store and pick up the box - there is no warning saying the game was released in a Beta state, play at your own risk.

Sony loaned them some money in order to last until January but from everything I have read it sounds like it wasn't alot. I think this whole mess is all Sigil's doing. SOE is just the perfect scapegoat for those who think Brad walks on water.
I seriously have no problem with haters, but can we PLEASE get the facts right, and not just use this to further our Anti-SOE crusade. This is like the one time in history SOE DIDN'T mess things up.
Geez...
Waiting for something fresh to arrive on the MMO scene...

LOL okay dokay. I am in awe of your awesome ability to review a game without trying it.

Vanguard is nothing more than simple entertainment, why the good old moan ?
Becuase it isnt entertaining? Becuase people payed $$$ and Sigil arent living up to their end of the bargain?
OMG!!, rofl, 119 hours on these fourms. Geez do you acutally play any games or just here to hate on SOE. Man really you should be banned. You didnt even put an IMHO in there. You are a troll whose goal is to bash anything SOE touchs that is appearent. IMHO the game is enteraining and I can see you don't but that is YHO now isnt it. In YHO you dont feel they have lived up to the bargain, maybe some others dont feel that way. If you are going to make an opionated statement please qualify it as such.
Jedi are a dime a dozen now and crafters still are lacking in SWG, your hidden agenda is exposed now , lol.

But back to Darksolitude's original points (which this thread has deviated from wildly)
Firrst, please quit blaming SOE for "weilding the nerf bat" I'm sure these are entirely up to Sigil's design team. There is no conspiracy by SOE to destroy every MMORPG gamers fun.
So, you disagree with the latest "nerfs" of various classes with regards to defense and damage mitigation. (definitely impacting Warriors, I can agree) They are not done intentionally to prevent solo play. (though that might be the end result). In the case of Warriors I think these changes were done to force more dependence on healing classes. (which is important since healers are being re-balanced as well to do less damage, and rely more on damage classes) This would encourage more group play, but not force people into it.
As to standing in town LFG for hours on end. That currently happens because there is little incentive to group. (too many people soloing, and exp is less for groups) If they change the mechanics a bit so that people kill faster and get more exp in groups, then grouping will be the way to go. (I realize some folks want to solo for just 30 minutes or so... then I'd recommend you go with WOW, which is designed for that sort of causal play)
And you are correct...."most" people don't want to stand around in town lfg's and they don't. They join guilds, actually start/lead their own groups, reach out to people via tells instead of shouting endlessly in chat channels. WOW has made people lazy, anyone who played the old school games like DAOC, EQ and others will tell you, developing your social skills is just as important, (maybe more so) as developing you adventuring or crafting skills. Its "part of the game" if you will, and an important part by design.
I agree, fixing the game's functionality should be the top priority, and I'm sure some portion of the staff is hard at work on that. But other developers have been assigned to work on class balancing issues, and they probably have an easier time of making changes happen rapidly. When companies take months to make balance changes we complain, and say they are too slow. When they make rapid changes like this, undoubtly more mistakes and over-corrections are going to happen. What you do is report the issue and the Dev's will re-evaluate their decisions. I know my own class, Druid has had several abilities taken away and then put back in since beta 5. I expect more to follow. BTW...I can't solo-kill 3 mobs that are 2 levels below me at the same time... so why then did you expect to be able to?
You've invested 100 hours into making money so you can level up solo...my friend...you are playing games too much.. take a break and enjoy the sunshine. But more to the point...there's your problem... you are a warrior, you were not meant to solo, you were meant to group with healers...sort of a symbiosis.... you want to solo, you'll need to play a hybrid damage dealer who has decent self heals. (like a Pally) This is also by design.
It seems the bulk of your frustration was over the realization that you can't solo with a Warrior. All I can say is...working as designed, and you're right, you probably need to find another game. (unless you are willing to consider playing a hybrid class) As to all of your close friends come with you to another game, I'll call Shenanigans on that statement..doubtful that you are that influential of a person that you can control the actions of others. (if so, consider starting a religion, some big money in that field).
But for sake of argument, if you have so many close friends that play games (wish I did, but I'm pretty much a loner) why would you be planning on doing so much soloing? If I had lots of friends playing, we'd pretty much be hanging together all the time... a on-line gang if you please, and soloing wouldn't be much of a goal.
In the end, Vanguard probably won't fit the solo playstyle that you are seeking, so your decision to move on is probably a wise one. But keep in mind, for many gamers Vanguard's design is exactly what they are seeking, (even if they are a niche in the overall gaming market) and they will be happy with the playstyle.

You have to solo in this game because you start across the world from your friends depending on what class / race you want to play.
At low levels it is IMpossible to travel to and from, and until you can afford a horse and want to take the two hour cruise through the countryside to where you can hop on a boat, you're stuck soloing.
If they want a group-centric raid-centric game that's fine, but they shouldnt a) say that this game will appeal to all sorts of players, because it doesn't and b) make it so damned hard to get anywhere so that you CAN group.
I don't know about you, but so far I've had things in my quest journal that are regular quests, and some that say "Group Quest." Implying, at least to me, that the ones that DON'T say group quest should be able to be done on your own. But the fact of the matter is, beyond level 10, you can't solo.
Darksolitude is soloing because he's trying to catch up to his friends who are on another continent with no way to get to them. I'm soloing for the same reason - I'd make the trek to Thestra, except someone at Sigil had the brilliant decision to not allow disciples to be Thestrans of any kind ( or Kojans to be clerics of any kind ) so there isn't a single class trainer for me ON THE ENTIRE LAND MASS. Which means more and more two hour journeys on foot to get anywhere. Of course, seeing that my disciple is completely useless now, I guess I can GET MORE BEHIND by STARTING OVER AGAIN as a RACE I DON'T WANT TO PLAY so that I can actually enjoy the game. We shouldn't have to do that =/
I admire the many people who still give their faith and support to this game. I used to be one of you, patiently waiting for the game to be fixed, telling the complainers that Sigil will fix everything in due time. But after this "Emergency Patch" during prime time yesterday that fixed exactly zero of hte major issues and instead distributed nerfs to classes that already were kind of dependent on other classes to accomplish anything well, I have to say they lost a lot of my respect.
Gaming? That's not gaming! That's just people sat 'round in costumes drinking...

He provides no evidence other then irrational assumptions and unproven claims. Again the idea behind not having official forums is a Sigil move. End of Story.

That seems to be his and Sigil's "Modus operandi".

That seems to be his and Sigil's "Modus operandi".
That is what is frightening, and some of the dweeb fanbois bought into the lies after being warned repeatidly about his B.S..
Funny things is - when you go into a store and pick up the box - there is no warning saying the game was released in a Beta state, play at your own risk.
SIGIL IS IN CHARGE OF IT, NOT SOE.
Of course that is MHO.
Some people really do ask to be verbally raped.
