Vanguard sucks. There, I did it. Before you decide to flame me and tell me how stupid I am, wait a second. Take a step back and look at the game. Can you be honest to yourself and say that this game is worth $50 upfront, and another $16 a every month? Is it really better than any other game out there? I know some of you like it, and will continue to play no matter how unplayable or how much you have to upgrade your computer. That's like going out to eat, ordering a prime steak ,and getting fajita meat. Now, if you want steak you can pay to upgrade your meat and get the real thing. Of course the fajita meat is edible, but it's not steak. But you go ahead and eat it with a fake smile, and proceed tell everyone at the table how delicous your fajita-steak is. I tip my hat to those of you who are willing to endure the bugs, lag, poor graphics, etc of Vanguard. I don't know about you, but giving up 17k in MB for a crappy game is kinda crazy.
Enjoy

You are a troll. There, I did it. Before you decide to respond and tell me how much of a fanboy I am, wait a second. Take a step back and look at the game. Can you be honest to yourself and say that this game doesn't have any value at all? Is it really worse then every other game out there? I know some of you like to flame games that you don't like or don't have the hardware to run and that you'll continue to flame any game that isn't "your game" no matter how good they may actually be. That's like going out to eat, ordering a prime steak, and getting exactly that. A Prime steak. Now if you didn't want that prime steak, you should have just ordered what you wanted. Ofcourse the steak is going to be what it is, not fajita meat. But you go ahead and curse and whine and tell everyone that the steakhouse sucks because you really wanted a fajita. I tip my hat to all of you who are so willing to share your misery and hatred to any game that isn't WoW or your fav game. I don't know about you, but giving up on potential great games because they have a few bugs or they aren't exactly like WOW is kinda crazy. Enjoy hating.

Wow... Next time when you responded to my post, and copy 90% of my content in your in response, try copying the full 100%? Oh wait, you play Vanguard, your are use to things being incomplete. There, I said it. *throws poo*- Zaxx
*catches your 'poo' and throws it back at you!*
Ewww! Do not throw your WOW game at me! I don't want your poo! Go play with your poo and let me be, shame on you!
Actually I haven't yet bought Vanguard, but your OP has absolutely no redeeming value. it doesn't help and is nothing more then senseless whining and bickering. Thus, why I threw it right back at you in my initial response to your original post the way that I did.
- Also if you hate Vanguard so much, mind if I actually do take your "poo" that you threw at me and try it out? hehe. Maybe your "poo" will be a treasure to me, and I don't really wanna spend the $50 if I end up agreeing with you that Vanguard is poo! Who knows. lol.

I have to say that if I ordered a prime steak in a nice restaurant and it came back with bugs in I would EXPECT the restaurant to offer me something else in return at no charge and be apologetic and the matter would end there and then, however, if they EXPECTED me to eat it with a brusque comment such as, 'it's only a few bugs' then the waiter would end up wearing it more than likely!
You must not leave until you free Arlos and have gathered your party safely in this hallway.

LOL. Eating real bugs and playing a video game with "bugs" after its initial release are so completely different that it's not even funny. I laughed at your analogy, and imagined watching that old show "Fear Factor" hehe. Anyhow a better analogy would be to say that in that restaurant you ordered a steak and ordered it medium well, but it was a little under cooked and came to you medium rare instead. Then you either had to decide to eat it a little to your disliking or wait until it was cooked more. In VG, you can either play it now and put up with the bugs, or wait until it's actually ready and plays smoother. That's how I see it anyhow.

Yet the analogy still sticks in that Sigil promised a fully completed game for the market. They never fulfilled that promise. If they are unable to provide such a product then maybe they are unable to produce it? Then again I'm not looking at the game itself, I'm looking at its developers in this context. Whether it was a game Sigil was producing or a system critical software suite for a Fortune 500 corporation, the issue is still the same: the lack of focus on Sigil's part to complete the game. They've had nearly 5 years by all reckoning to do so, but they they didn't. So, tell me why I should play the game? Even just for a weekend over at a friends house?
And please, no pleads to the fallacy of subjectivity.

I don't think you should play it. In fact, I think anyone that feels the way you do should stay away from it.

So, yet again, you seem to evade the issue. Sigil releases an incomplete product, why should anyone pay for that? Do I pay for an incomplete car? An incomplete meal? An incomplete wedding dress? An incomplete any kind of product?
Now if you argue that VG is an experience then you have a case, but only if you are excluding the necessary component code to express said experience for its target players. If it does not, then it has failed.

I agree the poster is trolling, but I do think VG's current state is something itself that ought to be critized. In fact I press this same issue with all software products. Whether it's VG or Windows Vista. If it's incomplete then the developers have done something wrong somewhere along the way and need to get back on track and admit the mistake(s).

For me, and this is just my opinion. If you spent years developing a game, it was almost ready for release - perhaps you needed another 6 months to get it ready. Then the funding runs out - you have no more cash. No salaries can be paid, no more development work had be done. What would you do? Would you say - "Ok, it's over. Scrap the game and look for another job" or release the game and hope that your dev team works their butts off getting the game as complete as possible and hope that you have enough of a fan base to allow this?
Both options aren't that fair for the consumer. If it's dropped then all the fans and beta-testers wasted their time and effort. If it's released early then the fans and others might of spent cash on something they ultimately didn't enjoy. And there are always the success stories for games being released early:
AO: Released early, and extremely unstable. Yet turned out to be one of the better futuristic MMORPG's out there.
DAOC: Released early as many dungeons simply weren't itemised - yet turned out to be one of the bext MMORPG's out there and set the standard for RvR.
EVE: Released early, lack of content, stability issues and has filled a niche market and doing very well.
AC1: Released early, lack of content, bugs and server issues - yet was a great game in the end.
All of the above could of just dropped the game[s] so that they didn't release an unfinished game, but i think the MMORPG market would be much worse if they had.
With the case of MS - they have no excuse given the deep pockets they have and the market share they currently control. Infact given how stable and supported XP is, they could of waited another year before releasing Vista and people wouldn't of minded.

True enough; With a video game though, once you have paid for it you are stuck with it, no matter how half assed it was made or how incomplete it is. You won't see a resturaunt with a no refund policy, since they rely on repeat business in much shorter intervals.
The truth of the matter is, no matter how bad a game is, people will still pretend to like it to justify the money spent on it. And no matter how much you spread negative comments about it, it's not going to affect thier bottom line as much as you think it would. Atleast, not until they make thier next game, in which people will have forgotten already about VG and fall into the hype too.
It's very simple for someone with common sense to avoid that situation though (mainly targetted towards the OP here); Don't be a moron and buy into the hype and jump in to swoop your copy up right away. If you wait, not only will the price go down, but you will see the quality of the game by reading other players comments. Hype != quality, so while your complaining about how bad it is, maybe you shouldn't have been a mindless sheep and listened to all the hype before you were more informed about it.
What ever happened to Demo's anyway? I suppose gaming has become so wide spread now a company doesn't worry about pissing off people with a low quality product, since inevitably there will always be people who except low quality and live with it. Im not directly commenting on VG, just mmo's in general really. A company could release an absolutly horrible game right now and if they had good marketing strategies and hype, it would sell like crazy because the consumers in recent years have gotten so ignorant. You have no one to blame for things like this but each other, because at some point people stopped asking for demos aka try before you buy versions, and no matter how half assed a game is made you still sit there and play it, even though there hasn't been an mmo that was actually fun to play for quiet awhile now.
I firmly believe - more so with MMORPG's - that a trial should be made available as soon as the game goes live. And an open pubic beta test does not count [i.e. a stress-test].

A public forum, also called an open forum, is open to all expression that is protected under the First Amendment. Seriously, you guys act like I just slapped your mother. I simply made a statement that I felt to be true. I'm not attacking your game, just making a personal observation. If you don't think it sucks, then go play your game. Obviously I've touched a nerve here...What I dont understand is why people feel the need to express there hate of a game.
there is enough room on this planet for everyone to play the games they like. its not like with the realese of a new game the game they are playing is going to dissapear.
I mean D&L is still around so people must be playing it. and that is argualbley the worst MMORPG ever made. So leave them be. Leave all the WoW players to there game. Leave all the DDO players to there dungens and the VG people to there new game.
I have Beta tested EVERY major MMORPG realesed sence UO and I cant think of any game with a bug free realsese. There have been some smoother then others. CoH probably the best launch i have ever experenced. and Everquest 1 being the worst.
Conservatism.
Just old white men trying to find ways to legalize discrimination, and make the poor poorer
Damn right Vanguard should be critizied for being buggy and having poor optimization.
That's not the problem the problem is this outright Venom that's getting rather old.
1) EQII could be taking to task for taking two years to finally become good.
2) WOW could be taken to task for being shallow graphicly inferior.
3) Guild Wars could be taken to task for not being a true MMO
4) COH could be taken to task for lacking depth and a true endgame.
5) LineageII could be taken to task for substituting grind for meaningfull gameplay.
6) Eve well...don't get me started
See what I mean...the list goes on...and on...and on.
The truth is every MMO today has glaring weaknesses So why...WHY is all this Venom directed at Vanguard?
