So, someone said why is that Vanguard is getting flamed so badly. Heck, I recall other MMOs getting flamed hard when released with bugs, etc. Another poster noted some games that took a long time to get it right and become good and that is true as well. MMOs are released too early for the most part to begin with. I am playing Vanguard and enjoying it though I do find it buggy still and often stop to go play something else like the LOTRO beta or, last night, Half Life 2 single player but I am still playing VG. I think the reason it is getting attacked so much is simple....They over promised and under delivered. I don't think this would be up to debate even amongst die hard VG players. I would also say other MMOs have done the same. Not launching with key features like SWG not have vehicles and space flight when it launched (not to get starte on that one but you get the idea). VG was being held, at the prompting of Sigil Developers, to a high, high standard. It has delivered on some things. It is clearly a successor to EQ, it has a vast world with lots of depth, it has mounts at level 10, it has good graphics if you have the hardware to support them. It is also very hard as it was was intended to be and is much better played in groups then solo after a certain level. It falls short in performance at times and seems unpolished. I give you an example. When launching there is no movie and the character screen appears but when it does it starts all choppy and with your toon in pieces (floating eye balls) all the while the sound stutters and sputers while it loads. This is not a big deal and the sound is fine when it starts but this is an example of the unfinished feel of it. When in game there is a little rubber banding when "zoning" and if you get to close to a wall you can see through your toons head. Occasionally, when I have died and released I have appeared somewhere I am not bound. Again, does not sound like a big deal but gives the game that unfinished feel. I am guessing over time much of this will be taken care of but after the launch of so many MMOs you might think they would get out the door more ready for prime time. I can tell you that LOTR (love it or hate it ) is already much more stable and polished looking then most MMOs are at launch. This is not to debate it against VG, just to point out the stability that can be achieved. I think people just had such high expectations of the game due to the hype that it was a big let down for many when it did not exactly live up to what people thought it would be. It may still get there though. I have this expectation of AoC and will be dissapointed severely if it is not excellent and reasonably stable out of the shoot. Just my 2 cents.

I tip my hat to those of you who are willing to endure the bugs, lag, poor graphics, etc of Vanguard. I don't know about you, but giving up 17k in MB for a crappy game is kinda crazy. Enjoy
Bugs? Yes, I have noticed a few. Nothing gamebreaking that I can't easily work around (if necessary).
Lag? I haven't seen any and I'm in Australia. Are you using dialup?
Poor graphics? lol, my computer is a year old and I'm playing on High quality, all features on, max draw distance etc... It looks better than any other MMO I have played.

Vanguard sucks. There, I did it. Before you decide to flame me and tell me how stupid I am, wait a second. Take a step back and look at the game. Can you be honest to yourself and say that this game is worth $50 upfront, and another $16 a every month? Is it really better than any other game out there? I know some of you like it, and will continue to play no matter how unplayable or how much you have to upgrade your computer. That's like going out to eat, ordering a prime steak ,and getting fajita meat. Now, if you want steak you can pay to upgrade your meat and get the real thing. Of course the fajita meat is edible, but it's not steak. But you go ahead and eat it with a fake smile, and proceed tell everyone at the table how delicous your fajita-steak is. You know in the Vanguard forums, I would make lengthy intelligent posts anaylzing each aspect of the game. However, the vanboys really don't wanna hear anything about it so they quote out another one of the many many people who don't like Vanguard who posted a 1 liner; then flame them with a mediocre response that I already went into indepth detail on why that aspect of the game simply wasn't there.
Its easy to say such a thing like that when your looking through the forums with blinders.

Okay smartass, D&L has like a 3.3 overall rating on this site. I played it. And I have given reviews of Dark and Light and explained in great details as to why the game was rated poorly by myself.
On the other hand, Vanguard has a very respectable 8.2 rating here. And it has been reviewed here many times as being a great game. There is a HUGE difference obviously between Vanguard and Dark and Light.

However, i would love to make a bet that the OP either hasn't even played the game or only played a very short amount of time in a beta stage, The fact he never, ever gave a single detail to any of the questions raised, to me stinks of avoidance on the issue. No problem Baerf. I, like yourself, just wanted a little more out of the OP then "X game sucks". Reading that crap on these forums gets quite old. I enjoy intelligent debate/discussion and when I am contemplating buying the Vanguard game, every intelligent viewpoint I can get on the game is helpful. I will agree with him on the aspect of having already purchased too many games (especially mmos) that have disappointed me.
If I purchase the game, I have already decided that I am going to do two things. I will thoroughly review the game after I play it a sufficient amount of time on these boards... and I have also decided that I won't purchase the game as a download, but rather as a retail box so that I can "hand out" the game trial keys to people on these forums who seem like they are in my shoes and looking for answers as to whether this might be the game they have been looking for.

He does not tell anyone not to buy the game, just that he hates it.

Okay smartass, D&L has like a 3.3 overall rating on this site. I played it. And I have given reviews of Dark and Light and explained in great details as to why the game was rated poorly by myself.
On the other hand, Vanguard has a very respectable 8.2 rating here. And it has been reviewed here many times as being a great game. There is a HUGE difference obviously between Vanguard and Dark and Light.
And as I'm sure, many people on this site would say the the ratings on this site doesn't mean shit.- Zaxx
I was just saying, if you buy a game because people are flaming it or saying they hate it...well, it's a piss poor reason for buying a game or product. If you think you might like it...then yea, go ahead.

However, i would love to make a bet that the OP either hasn't even played the game or only played a very short amount of time in a beta stage, The fact he never, ever gave a single detail to any of the questions raised, to me stinks of avoidance on the issue. And lets be honest, he wasn't exactly the none flaming poster as well.
I'm going to leave it here - i'm tired and need to hit the sack - i did - inpart - enjoy the discussions and zaxtor99 thanks for being in my corner.
As i stated in another thread. There are allot of good posters in this community, but they are drowned out by the "X Sucks - the end", and it seems people here - not you Kenichi - but others, appear to support them.
No problem Baerf. I, like yourself, just wanted a little more out of the OP then "X game sucks". Reading that crap on these forums gets quite old. I enjoy intelligent debate/discussion and when I am contemplating buying the Vanguard game, every intelligent viewpoint I can get on the game is helpful. I will agree with him on the aspect of having already purchased too many games (especially mmos) that have disappointed me.
If I purchase the game, I have already decided that I am going to do two things. I will thoroughly review the game after I play it a sufficient amount of time on these boards... and I have also decided that I won't purchase the game as a download, but rather as a retail box so that I can "hand out" the game trial keys to people on these forums who seem like they are in my shoes and looking for answers as to whether this might be the game they have been looking for.
