I've kept my Vanguard account active (rather than cancelling out of haste) to see whether I would have any motivation to play the game... I gave the game a go, I made 3 characters on the 3 different continents, and I found I rolled those alts out of frustration, and decided to see if another continent was better... I liked elements of the game, but obviously not enough to make me want to play... I like the idea of the game on paper... I just can't get past the bugs to see if those ideas really work in implementation.
I tried the crafting which was fun for a little while, but after a while it becomes a big work order grind, and you don't get to make enough usable items per crafting level, and it takes a lot of work orders to go up a level. I gave diplomacy a big go too, I like the concept, but the dialog is static, and folks with the same class "Senators in Leth Nurae" or whatever they are called, repeat the exact same sequence, nothing they say changes... so it felt like *gasp* grinding. The adventuring wasn't bad, but I cannot for the life of me see what is innovative with the combat system, apart from having a defensive target and an offensive target... The rest is pretty much the same as anything else.
This game is a challenge to play, cuz in my mind, it is boring... Hard games to me... Are games that if I make one wrong move, I might be biting the dust, but if I play with finesse and style, I will win the day, and the adrenalin will be pumping... This game didn't give me that... Real hardcore people wouldn't even know there was a death penalty. The dungeons in this game are total zerg fests... Get a group, zerg in.... No style, no finesse... And if you do play with finesse, the stupid respawns will cane your ass.
The only reasons I have hope for Vanguard, is that from all reports, Sony made EQ2 a better game than it was during release. I will give the game another go, once what I would have paid in subscriptions, equals what I have forked out for the game thus far. I have to recoup the costs for this disappointment.
WOW was mindless in many ways, but Vanguard to me, has a lot of the elements I hated in WOW, with none of the good. I could try out my skills in the instances by duoing them... I was a warrior, and my best friend was a priest.
Successfully duoed (without the word of a lie), meaning completed all quests, and killed all bosses, non-twinked characters on a new server Aman'thul:
WC duoed level 21
BFD duoed level 23
SFK duoed level 25
RFK duoed level 31
SM duoed level 39
RFD duoed level 43 (The lich was damned hard).
Uldaman 45 up to where you can't go no further with only 2 people.
After that, Duoing becomes impossible (need 3 people to activate switches in Uldaman)... or downright hard, so ya need a skilled trio.
This took skill... if ya don't think so, re-activate your WOW account (you all have had one at one stage, admit it) and try doing it yourself.
To those people that enjoy the game in its current form... More power to you... if the game ever does become great, I sincerely hope Sigil gives you guys and gals a big pat on the back, to show that the loyalty isn't only one way.

I was not talking about the game...talking about people... you assumed I was talking about the game and quickly attacked it as par the normal.
I was informing people with questions to actually go a board that could answer them not this .... babble fest ... I .. at one time came on these boards to take a look at information on new games and such ,,, never posted .,,, just read ... Mid-level, yes. Lower level? That's just untrue.
By the end of beta every single starting zone was nearly complete. If you got to level 40 and searched around, you'd see how very different things were then.

Clearly you did not read my post. I did not explore this “huge world” in two weeks, because I have found nothing in the game during that time that makes me believe it is worth exploring.
The quests are straight out of any other MMO. The world graphics are ok but seem very poorly used. The spell effects are awful. You have to grind to see any of the lore. The animations are substandard. After picking your class and race there is little to no way to customize your character. If you think you can find depth in that more power to you.

Its not a lie. Somtimes I would play for a few hours grinding away, then I would die and lose all those hours of playing because the death penalty is way to high. People like you probably play 47 hours a day so thats nothing but, some players have jobs and lives outside of VG so a few hours a day is all I can play. Its cool maybe VG isnt for the casual gamer I'll just have to go play some of the games that are currently out that do. I'm not looking to begin a new life I just want to enjoy playing an mmorpg.

I play about three hours a day. I've never once lost experience from a single death that set me back several days. Now, I'm not an idiot. I don't die repeatedly for no good reason. THAT might set me back several days. A single death wll NEVER set me back several days. ANY outdoors death is a guaranteed CR for me for only about 2% loss. I don't go wandering through fields of purple mobs.

Well I guess you are a superior VG player. I have died twice in a row once because I was dumb enough to try and actually run back to my tombstone and died again, and another time when I teleported to an area surrounded by aggressive lvl 30+ mobs and I was only lvl 14 so I got to die a lot until finally being able to recall. Also I'm sure you never crashed while fighing somthing then log back in with xp dept. To some it up, the risk isnt worth the reward.
I'm still kinda pissed that they tricked me into paying $50 for this pos mmo.

You guys notice how each players class is the same? Like each sorc is the same as every other sorc? How come we cant specialize in different areas or skills? I mean real skills not crafting or diplomat. Thats a major turn off.

A few days worth of experience if you're playing for two minutes a day. Assuming that you can't get back to your tombstone or get a rez and restore 85% of what you lost, you are still only dealing with 10% loss. You tell me it takes a "few days" to gain 10% of your experience at any current level? Again, if you are playing a few minutes a day, then yeah.
Outright lies like this just will not do.
Its not a lie. Somtimes I would play for a few hours grinding away, then I would die and lose all those hours of playing because the death penalty is way to high. People like you probably play 47 hours a day so thats nothing but, some players have jobs and lives outside of VG so a few hours a day is all I can play. Its cool maybe VG isnt for the casual gamer I'll just have to go play some of the games that are currently out that do. I'm not looking to begin a new life I just want to enjoy playing an mmorpg.

I play about three hours a day. I've never once lost experience from a single death that set me back several days. Now, I'm not an idiot. I don't die repeatedly for no good reason. THAT might set me back several days. A single death wll NEVER set me back several days. ANY outdoors death is a guaranteed CR for me for only about 2% loss. I don't go wandering through fields of purple mobs.

What is it with people who don't like a game that they MUST convince others that do like just how horribly wrong they are. And their wrongness surely stems from their sex-life or current job.
Well I guess you are a superior VG player. I have died twice in a row once because I was dumb enough to try and actually run back to my tombstone and died again, and another time when I teleported to an area surrounded by aggressive lvl 30+ mobs and I was only lvl 14 so I got to die a lot until finally being able to recall. Also I'm sure you never crashed while fighing somthing then log back in with xp dept. To some it up, the risk isnt worth the reward.
I'm still kinda pissed that they tricked me into paying $50 for this pos mmo.
