One can claim many things, i can claim that ccp lies, there is proof of that. There is no proof there are 200k subscribers, just 170k subscriptions, and many of those are 1 person with many accounts, average of 3 each (I know cyvok and other had over 10 accounts each), making the real number of SUBSCRIBERS closer to just 100k....sure puts a dent in that old fanboi propaganda huh.

noobs looking to join a game should be aware of all the facts, not propaganda and lies from fanbois.

If the noobs know the facts, decide the scandal events wont bother them in the game, and have no ethical issue supporting a company that behaves like ccp, then that is an informed decision, one I accept, contrary to a decision based on lies and misleading propaganda.

Yep i read that 200k is a nice number for an independent game. And to those why like to point out that most of thema re probably also alt accounts well so what they are still paying accounts.

looked, it has nothing there to counter what I said, since there are no direct quotes of ccp emplyees, only reported opinions with a rounded figure (170k rounded to 200k...).

ccp subscriber numbers have dropped, omit trials, the 'return for free' players omitted...and you have a serious drop of dedicated players. (those that got a free week or two to return, came out after ccp felt a serious drop in logins in Feb...marketing ploy to regain numbers...)

no spins, just facts from someone that is not a ccp drone, ccp employee, a fanboi or suckup...just a person that knows what happened and won't lie about it like some choose too.

You should know that a couple of months or so after a majour named expansion comes out CCP releses free trialls and come back to us and see whats new E - Mails as standard. Nothing to do with losing 300 subscibers to a poorly handled scandall.

I think you should take a careful look at that graph again. It's show ups and downs going in cycles, examples of tops are end of May, start of September and start of January, examples of downs are start of July, start of November and now recently end of February.

Can you prove that the latest drop is not just part of the ongoing cycle?
I am not saying that the recent scandal did not effect subscription numbers but that graph does not prove it in any direction.

Well I was thinking of re-subbing. But after reading all of this I think ill hold back. I have two EVE accounts but this is rediculous. I should probably just re-sub to EQII since Vanguard is a big flop :-D

    geee....

you missed that part where the freebee time ccp offered was right at the worst of the subs and login dive ccp suffered from the scandal...look at the graph, correlate the time, engage brain...I also stated the freebee time had stabilized the logins...not that it caused an increase in paying subscribers (nor has it).

So if one pays attention to the time, the events, ccp has lost long term players and the dip proves that.

The effects of that event are still to be seen, as ccp changes, we will have to watch and see.

When the freebee time usage has ended, we can see what happens again.

Now, if you doubt that a substantial number of people canceled over what ccp did and failed to do in relation to the scandal, ask ccp.

I'm guessing we all missed the part where freebie time was given out....

as...please correct me if im wrong....this hasnt happened!!

the "come back to EvE" mails going round have always been about, especially when they add a new big patch and the reduction in subscription price if you buy in bulk has also been around

i think some people on here need to actually play EvE and surf their forums for a while before making up lovely fantasies....

Ding Dong! The Wicked Witch is dead.

Anyway yeah EVE is doing great though tbh I wouldn´t it dropping to 15-20k if that ment completely lag free gameplay without CCP panicking and making some "changes" to make it more mass appealing...

Personally the only reason why eve-online has any sort of subscription numbers is because how many MMO's are there that are sci-fi and any good? Answer there aren't any. I played EVE-Online for a lil while because every other sci-fi MMO either sucks or has no player base.  So basically theres the top 3 which most people pick up.

WoW- A good starter MMO that gives huge paybacks for a short amount of time(not really a bad thing) but takes ZERO skill to play. Just push 2-3 buttons and sit back and watch what happens. Full of ell3te UOBER 10yr old HAXXORS OMFGIWANTCHORSORD!!!!!

Guild Wars- Very simple to play and to its very quick to get into PvP. Not alot of effort needed to unlock the numerous spells. Community is as friendly as a bowl full used hyperdermic needles though. Too instanced for me and the game world is pretty small.

EvE online- VERY VERY huge learning curve weeds out the 10yr olds but is replaced instead with DEV's  that use real human beings has pawns in an office style D+D type game. I wonder if magnus rolls a 00 on his 70 sided dice we might get rid of the macroers, DEV cheaters, and blobs.

So there you have it ... EvE's subs wont go down because theres hardly any competition in the sci-fi MMO category. Eve is basically the creme de' la crap the best of all the worst sci-fi mmo's. I think soon though theres going to be some new ones comming out hopefully.

And theres a bright side Star Trek Online will be comming out way later on so at least I have something to look forward too

KEEP YOUR FINGERS CROSSED.....oh wait those aren't my fingers

    image
Is there an MMO that out there that isn't affected by Xao Ping Wang and their money grubbing macro bots?

I actually came from VG and was thinking about playing EVE. Now after reading all this crap the devs got into I think I'll stay far away.

No matter how many times you ignor it everyone who plays eve knows the real reason CCP releases such E-Mails to past members and suchwhat.

Its because of the new big expansion and its a way of saying 'come see whats new'. It has nothing to do with subsciption numbers. This has been repeatedly said to you by many people in this thread.

Also that coldfront graph shows eve is growing not dying as you love to say.

Look EvE is a good game, no argument.

    But 3 probs ...

    1) Developer corruption (Google)

    2) No chance to take on large corps in PvP until at least 1year+ in skills.

    3) 0.0 locked down with inty warp bubbles

I quit, a shame, but so many people quitting right now CCP better take notice or they will die or go free

    3) 0.0 locked down with inty warp bubbles Thats an exaduation just use the map and work out which routs are not safe.
