Hopped on Varking, and got a group for ToD withing minutes of logging in and asking.

Didn't see a single poofing mob, didn't fall through the world, no invisible anything.

Same performance as before patch. 40+ fps.

Of course, being an employee of SOE, we get sooper sekrit alien technology computer machines...

And with that, I leave you with your moment of Zen.

It occurrs to me that this is the worst death penalty I've ever seen.  I have to spend hours watching my red xp bar go down to zero now, before it changes back to yellow, and starts to climb back up.

Again, because of dying a few times, for every mob I kill, my xp bar goes DOWN

How bad is that for morale...

I haven't had any XP issue when dying. The XP amount seems the same, or about, to me. I leveled 2 times today, died 3.

I'll start my own SWG... with Black Jack... and Hookers!!!

    In fact, forget the SWG!!!!

And Trolls like you keep making up BS, when actual players, like ME, can tell you the Servers are packed. Just calling this a Patch proves my point; this Update has 9 new full Dungeons, and a TON of new content... only a Hater with an agenda would claim this was just a Patch.

And mindless fanbois like you don't have an agenda?  Anybody with even a tiny bit of objectivity would understand that patching bugs and filling empty areas is a fix.  Fix = patch.

Is the game buggy? Hell yes...

    HELL YES

Does it have issues? Hell yes...

    HELL YES

Does it frustrate me from time to time? Hell yes...

    HELL YES

Is it still fun? Hell yes...

Usually not.  Between the bugs, the bland gameplay and lack of content the fun only comes in small amounts broken up by long periods of frustration.

Is it getting better all the time? Hell yes...

Again, usually not.  Take this last patch for example.  It introduced waves of new bugs while addressing none of the current gamebreaking problems.  And to top it off.. they added a massive, unneeded nerf to crafting.  A few more uninspired dungeons to crawl through won't make up for randomly losing levels, having your gear vanish, unexplained  death for crossing a zone line..

Are the servers packed? Hell yes...

No, the servers are not packed.  FAR, FAR from it.  There are certain areas that are crowded, however this is due to the general lack of content forcing people into a handful of areas rather than server population.

    Is it dead? Hell no...

Dead?  No.  Dying? Seems that way.  Overall there seems to be less people on now than there was a few weeks ago, There has been a constant decline in population since launch.

Will everyone like the game? Hell no...

Amazing how a half finished product will have that effect.

That's the truth, stop lieing to server your own purposes.

If you're going to post stuff like this.. at least make your own lies more believable.

You are completely off base with your response and i'm not going to say why cuz you will never listen anyways so my question to you, why not go play another game instead of TRYING to bash vg that many others are having fun with despite the bugs?........vg is not dying nor is it dead i always see and help new players coming into the game especially on the rp server florendyl.  At peak times on the east coast, atleast half the servers are high pop and the rest are medium and even the european servers are on medium most of the time.

the haters and the people whining on these or any other forums is only at the most 5% of the actual player base.  So to take  you really need to practice what you preach i quote "IF YOU"RE GOING TO POST STUFF LIKE THIS.. AT LEAST MAKE YOUR OWN LIES MORE BELIEVABLE." end quote. enough said.

I don't hate i regulate. if they are gonna put out a   big piece of monkey faeces i will call it out.  VG would have been a decent game IF it would have launched when it was ready .  It did not and I was still dumb enough to buy it. The game feels unfninished, boring and buggy.  I don't know what part of that you find fun.   I can see how as an RP person you make believe alot of you content so i can see how you can overlook alot of it but for other people the current issues with VG are unacceptable.

I bought this coaster and I am hoping they salvage it so i can get this egg off my face.  This "UPDATE" "PATCH""FIX" is a good step but i  would not applaud them just because they are doing what they are supposed to be doing. I would have applauded them if they had released a finished product with non gamebreaking bugs

I want to believe in VG but i call em as I see them and unlike you vanbois I don't wear rosey colored glasses when i play it. .

I didn't mean to imply that xp loss were any worse than usual.  Just that new patch bugs got me killed a bunch of times.

    When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.

    Ah... my bad...

I have played alot of the mmorpg's that are out there.  WoW, eq2, eve-online, and alot of the ones that no longer exist.  But i do not care which one you choose they all had major issues when there were released.  WoW included was almost unplayable when i first came out.  Servers where always up and down and they even did  a few rollbacks.  It takes a few months after release to really get a feel for how a game is going to be like.  I just wish that everyone that does all the gripping would just take a wait and see approach.  I am tired of hearing all the bashing from all sides.  Most of these ppl should probably wait for a game to get established before they even bother trying to play the games.

    Hey folks.

Im an Ex Vanguard player. Myself, my friends and family all played in open beta, payed and bought release boxes and then subsequently cancelled ALL of our collective accounts (About 9) before the paying subscription period.

Background over, the reasons why we left vanguard are ours and ours alone and they are not your opinions so i will not post them here. Suffice to say we did not wish to pay a monthly subscription to the product. We have since moved onto other things ;-).

What i WILL say is that, whether a patch or an update (We no longer log into vanguard) It seems an awful lot of work has gone into this patch by Sigil, the notes are extensive and most importantly it tells off identifying a VERY LARGE memory leak in the client code and fixing it to improve stability and performance. Good on them and good for you as the vanguard community because its items like that, that are POTENTIALLY game breaking and upsetting for new customers...we were some of them.

I am "genuinely" pleased for all of your community as a non-vanguard player (Im actually a WOW and LOTRO player) please no flames as i dont feel i have said anything to cause offence or deserve them here.

Could i please implore that we turn this thread around and get some quality feedback in here for those wanting to know what the patch / update has indeed fixed as intended and perhaps what is still causing problems for the vanguard community...because i am absolutely sure that for the sake of your community and the game you have respectfully chosen to play, you dont deserve rebuking nor offending and neither should others be offended for leaving the game or commenting on problems they may still have...however feedback in here on the update / patch will enable vanguard players to analyse trends in what has INDEED been fixed and what has not or is still causing problems. That way the information you need to deliver to Sigil to in order to highlight still potential game bugs and the like is more concise and to the point....using whatever medium you have for (Sony Support Forums, Sigil Email) reaching the application developers and letting them know as soon as possible. Ultimately to make the game you have chosen to play, more rewarding and more over what you possibly have at the moment a polished experience.

Every different MMO community has payed for the right to make its decision to play an MMORPG game and to play in its chosen world, in a polished experience with others they choose to share adventure with, use these forums and others like it to CONSTRUCTIVELY help each other and your respective communities. Feed back on this massive vanguard patch, what is broke still, what now works ;-)

    Best regards

    Mag

Just to please (or tick off) both sides, I'll get this out up front: I have a current subscription. I play every now and then (less and less, admittedly, but I still play). I have alternately defended when I thought I should, and called junk when I saw junk.

Lots of updated things, lots of changes in this "please save us because we know we have to do something" update. I agree with that much. Even fixed the memory leak they said they fixed in the last patch ;)

What I want to know, is did they add any fun at all? Or any compelling races or a coherent story? Because that's what they're missing, folks.

    - Chunk lines warp you 2km away and have you flailing about in the water drowning trying to /stuck yes.

    - Said warp often results in xp loss and the need for repeated logins to unbork your UI and character model

    - character models randomly change to very amusing things. i once had long silver hair, short red hair, and funky blonde hair all in an hour without changing anything myself.

    - teleporters never seem to teleport you on land

    - boats still dont work

    - memory leak still causes crashes

    - more bugged/non functioning quests than I can conveniently name

    - lost connection to group issues

    - unable to re invite people to groups after said issue

    - healer summon spells summoning wrong party member

    - map doesnt update party locations

    - mobs randomly disappear into the ground and then show as 1km away and then warp to behind you.

    - mobs aggro through walls, doors, floors, and other things that you can't walk through.

    - sometimes you log in and can't talk in guild because it says you aren't in one, when you are.

    - invisible weapons and other items.

    - inventory bug resulting in item loss

    - texture bugs resulting from having many items equip over each other in the same slot

    - mailbox issues

    - window size issues, freezeups with 'fullscreen' guild window, mail window, etc.

    - repair cost funkiness (actually takes more of your money)

    - harvesting tool prices

    - "falling through the world" in countless places

    - countless broken skills across every class

    - crafting quest progression issues, misnamed/misplaced NPCs

    - soft cap damage reduction (NOT fixed) [Example : I have a mage stacked in INT gear. Buffing my INT w/ selfbuff makes me hit for 1/3 as much. Take off buff, damage returns to normal. Tried w/ buff on, taking off a few pieces of int gear, damage was fine.)

    - many mispellings/overlapped text/issues in the UI, quest windows, etc.

    - locations don't update correctly on map for some waypoints

    - compass doesn't update correctly on map for some waypoints

    - bank to inventory bug with items disappearing / moving about

    - various zone bugs (elevators in tomb of tsang, new targ),

    - crafting bug where your recipe list doesn't display

    - various classes 'stance' abilities not working.
And this is just what I could think of off the top of my head that I have personally experienced. I have a high end PC so can't commend on the thousands of performance issues and login issues that I've read about on the tech forums. If I logged on and played for a few hours I'd probably have another list just as long to add. The game is FULL of bugs, anyone who says otherwise is living in denial. Sigil HAS been addressing issues since day 1, they've been doing a decent job at it, and they are dedicated I'll give them that. And we as players are being patient, waiting for them to give us the game they advertised, the game we're paying for. And we're ok with that. But when you start messing with our hard earned equipment and administering the global nerf bat, the big picture comes into focus all the more clearly.
And good grief, I haven't logged in since I patched..and seeing that, I don't think I will. I honestly think Sigil isn't the old Verant. This has to be a bunch of people just learning C++.

I had hoped this patch would address some fo the very real issues with this game. Unfortunately, my gameplay this evening was the worst it's been yet.

My level 14 Paladin seems to have become quite frail and unable to defend himself. My finishing move is now about equal to a standard ability, and the overall damage output has decreased.  Fighting an equal level 2-dot mob with one add now equals certain death.  Yesterday, I could hold my own with up to two adds of equal level mobs, today I died 4 times fighting only two mobs.

I also couldn't leave the Three Rivers area tonight. Every time I try to cross a chunk line into Leth Nurae or Bordinar's Cleft, I get a load screen and it takes me to character select.  When I log back in, I'm several hundred feet away from the chunk line, with no buffs anymore.  I also can walk through most rocks now, which I never had a problem with before.

It seemed awful quiet as far as population goes tonight. I tried for about an hour to get a group in Khegor's End, and even stood outside for about 20 minutes without seeing another soul.  It's usually a pretty busy place on the Gulgrethor server, at least people will be milling about outside killing spiders and such.  I wonder if others are having similar problems and are just not playing? I don't know the answer, but I finally got fed up since I couldn't leave the chunk and logged out.  Plus the FPS seems to have dropped a little, and the mob names keep changing colors, so it's hard for me to know what's going to attack me on sight until I get so close that I'm dead.  My experience bar is quite red for the first time since I started playing. I hope they patch the patch soon, it seems to have made the game worse for me.
