The was posted on the E-O forum a few moments ago. I've posted a few additional materials in another thread that was discussing this previously, but since the Suggestions forum section doesn't get much traffic I'm throwing up a topic here.

Exclusive EVE "Avatars" Video from GDC 2007

Suffice to say I'm speechless (good thing I can still type ;p ). People were continuously in disbelief that the video was of real-time in game footage, its amazing. Though, they said the same things about EVE before it was released in 2003 with its original graphics...

Big changes are ahead!!! :D

    If they can really pull this off I would for sure be back in the game. Curious, does anyone know if this will be in EVE Classic or only the upcoming Vista client?

    EVE Vista =/= Graphics Upgrade and Walking in Stations

    The big upgrade that's upcoming that has all the commotion is for DX9 and will still work 100% with Windows XP. EVE Vista is just for future support on the latest OS and hardware but will have the same features (and even the same graphics, for a while) as the DX9 version.]

    EVE "Classic" will have the same features and support as Vista for several years after it comes out.

    Yeah, this is going to add such a huge amount of extra depth to the game.  It will be awesome to have something to actually fight for that you can really walk around in and see from the inside.

    Ok, but I'm still worried about this actually making it in-game. We all know CCP makes promises and shows us shiny without ever delivering. I really hope this makes it in, and soon. Not twelve or eighteen months from now.



    Like I've said in the past, a lot upcoming 2nd Gen players have gotten where they expect certain things, walking avatars is just one of them. I think it would be major boon to both current players and bring in new ones. This feature alone brings tons of depth to the game.



    Let's all hope this doesn't become "vaporware" eh?

    Wow....this look hot, this will take Eve to a new level, I hope there will be things to do in stations as well, mission stuff etc....

    While I agree with you, you should know straight up that they're not expecting any of the station stuff to happen until at least 2008.  They are already planning on implementing a new graphics engine in the near future as well as the other two installments of the Revelations expansion.



    Sorry man, but it's going to be a while before we see this.

    Looks fantastic. Hopefully they can do it.

    EvE has allways missed strong immersion - hopefully this will bring strong immersion.

    This, this, I just wanna walk up and see my shiny Cerberus or Drake sitting there in the station *drool* even the not so nice designed by oh so awesome CNR sitting there for a screenshot of my guy waving  would be awesome ^_^ now, if only I ad not gotten rid of all my gallante planetary vehicles and arms/hightech arms. This could line up for some really really nice corpoation and alliance "group shots" let alone combat that would incur (only thing I hope for is highly restricted intra station PVP, I mean seriously, we have ships with BIG guns for that, we have a bar for fun stuff ^_^



    ooh ooh, Corporation interviews for members, Drinking QUAFE! my 10,000 exotic dancers going wild, and my 1000 merc's keeping guard ^_^ next step - walking through the insides of a raven/apoc/geddon/mealstrom/any other bs, seeing the pod beeing dumped into a cepto r which takes off at 500m/s instantly, there are some screenshots and movies to be made, -once implemented - Eve may just take the Game movie (mechamovies, i don't know) by storm ^_^

    Why doesnt EVE accept bloody maestro??!! Well this will definitely open more possibilities for varying missions and more  weapons of sorts. Hopefully, with this footage, we should be invading planets soon.

    This is not a game.

    I am truly floored.

    While it's not a full on ground game, a la SWG, it's plenty close enough.

    Now it just remains to see what THQ is going to do the the license to Warhammer 40K.

    For the walking bit Q4 2007 to Q2 2008 id say.

     

    This may change tho so consider this a rough guess.

    Finally, the WoW crowd can play with the EvE crowd, enhancing the gameplay, I'm sure. 100,000 dancing naked Amaar begging for isk when they're not jumping around.

    Just sigh... why don't you actually go and inform yourself about the actual implementation? Read the dev blogs, read forums and so on.



    There will be NO dancing emote or other crap!

    By looking at the video there will obviously be a "Salute" emote.
