Vanguard over 500k toons and 150k subs in first two months

I really have a hard time when reading Brad's statements and seeing populations online,  reading people's doomed forcast for VG.  With all the bugs and issues in the first month, I think it is a compliment to the gameplay that it has held so many subs and from what I have seen online, VG is doing pretty good.    Lots of adventures, crafting, diplomates and harvester.   This game is really going to be a force in the MMO world if it stays the coarse.   Even with trolls running roughshot all over the VG forums, RAR

VG is no force at all, by the time it could get its act together (could, not will, after all potential might turn out to be 0, as it did in the past for VG) there will be other, better players on the field. AoC and WAR are just 2, I think even Tabula Rasa and G&H will do better, while LotRO is already a bigger success.

Well, according to Sigil, these numbers come from people who have resubscribed.  Dog the game all you want, it is still a good game and many people who play soon come to realize that the negativity posted about this game in forums isn't always true, or simply exaggerated. Grats to Sigil as this game truly freaking rocks!



Oh, and yeah, VG does have realistically beautiful graphics. It is ashame that you have to do some personal tweaking of the game and perhaps your OS, but if you make the effort to do so, you will be greatly rewarded. I can get this game to run in highest quality render settings at 1600 x1050. My jaw is dropping constantly, especially in Qalia, beautiful beautiful deserts indeed! And no, I don't have an 8800, just a simple 7600GS and a low end multi-core processor (oh, and 3gigers!).

People who are new to the forums may have the feeling, woha so many haters, but in reality its always the same 5-8 people flaming here for some odd reason. 

Anyway Im enjoying this game very much, with the patches its become really nice

   I am wandering if SOE has it's hands in the subs lists makeing them look bigger etc... I realy dunno if this game is worth trying,no one around wants to give out a buddy key soo I can try it out and the devs arent showing signs of a free trial soon...

'Realistically beautiful graphics'? Thats like saying a two year old child's play doh man is a realistically beautiful sculpture. Performance issues aside, my computer could run the game at max graphics and it still didnt manage to impress. EQ2 is 2 years old and the max setting graphics still blow Vanguard away.

I've read that people resubscribe. I've also read that there are 150k registered users. I've even read Brad quote Sigil needed 200-300k subscribers, and in the same paragraph ambiguously say "we have 150k", which is the number he gave for registered users prior.



Unless Vanguard has an amazing 100% retention rate, I don't think there's been any subscription numbers yet. Subscribers mixed in with all who've registered period, yes, but no recurring subscriber numbers.

Subs are not trials, since you don't subscribe to the game when you do a trial. So none are buddy keys.

Vanguard is doing just fine and going to be sucessfull for many years to come. The majority like the game...the minority just barks the loudest. The majority is too busy playing and having fun to bother with posts and threads.

Playing Vanguard ! because it sucks less than the rest !

It just amazes me that people take for truth what the CEO of a struggling company says.

He is working PR and marketing, that is his job. 150k subs ?

Any number that is thrown out is never spot on, always consider the source.

Furthermore putting any stock in the number of characters is silly, they don't delete them when you leave.

If you enjoy the game, thats great !

With all the misleading information at release time, all the promises of what Vanguard was supposed to be, I just won't belive a thing i hear from that CEO anymore.

Yea, you haven't heard me wrong. And poke 'em hard, would you! They can't even restore one person's deleted character due to bugs. There is an uprising of hundreds of posts over this simple thing in SV and devs are still supposedly investigating. And you are singing of roses and lillies here

It's pretty obvious that that person either voluntarily deleted his own character, or was sharing his account and someone else did it.  Having a bunch of guildmates coming online to swear testimonials about how honest he is doesn't change that obvious point.

His guildmates couldn't even tell consistent points from post to post.

Er...lets not forgot the recent Kojani crafting faction debacle.... I personally know 3 players who quit just yesterday over this issue.... and I think you'll find they won't be the last....

Yes! You are completely right, at first, I had thought something was amiss with the coding of VG, but then all the teachings of our cult leader, Brad, came to mind, and I realized the fault is with the player. It is obvious he deleted the character, as a kamikaze attempt. People, beware, for the suicide bombers have found their way into the online space, they are ruining Vanguard, the last standing bastion of western civilization!!!
