This game has got to be the best game i have ever played. There is so much shit to do in the game. And its insanely addictive, so if you havnt tried it go out and buy it. It will be the best thing that ever happened to you! ^_^................ You will get hooked on it like a whore on heroin.
You know by posting that you made the most stupid generalisation possible. Labeled yourself as an ignorant fool, and also created a lot of virgins by saying that WoW is the best thing that will ever happen to whoever read this, considering most of them are 14 year olds
No they aren't. Stop posting trash like this, you smelly troll. Everyone I know and have met in this game has been at least 20. They are 40somethings in my guild. There are married couples.
You have only labelled yourself as an ignorant fool.
Just because you happen to be in a mature guild which probably communicates with other older players, doesn't mean the average age is 20+. That's like saying if I grow up in a village which has had all it's active workforce immigrate to a major city and left behind either very young people under 16 or those over 50, then I could easily say that most people that I interact with are of a certain age group, but saying that everyone is of that age group in the whole country (which is what you said) would be another stupid generalisation.
Granted, most WoW players AREN'T 14 years old, and that was me hyperbolising to put my point across, but most of the more active gamers are certainly under 20, because those over that age usually get bored of simple, repetitive and grind-driven games like WoW fast.
I actually just did a search to find a statistic of the average WOW gamer age, and it seems Blizzard nor anyone else has such information published. Probably because the age is lower than what they would want for marketing purposes, given that they usually target casual gamers.
Think of it this way, as an example:
There are 100 gamers of age 25 who play 3 hours per week. Net hours played = 300
And another 50 of age 16 who play 12 hours per week. Net hours played = 600
I haven't based the above on anything except a few assumptions, but I'm trying to illustrate to you that even if there are more mature players than younger players, it is mostly true that as you get into a university and then move onto a job and a family, you have much less free time than you would at high school or before, so it is natural that as the gamer's age increases, he will become increasingly more casual.
In the end, the constant presence of the 50 people of age 16 play a much more significant role than the rare presence of the 100 25 year olds, as you will see twice more of the former than the latter.
"Everyone I know and have met in this game has been at least 20. "
So, EVERYONE you have ever met (or known), emphasis on met as in come into any contact with or interacted with, in WoW, is at least 20 years old...
Are you ready to admit that you just said the most ignorant and naive statement possible? WHen I played WoW for two weeks trying to see how good it was a few months back on their trial, most of the people I encountered behaved like they were in the age range of 15-18 and by no means mature in any way.
Have you actually walked up to all of the players you've interacted with in any way and asked them their age, and then verified this to make sure it is true?
Likelihood is, half the people who tell you they're 20, are probably 16 trying to join your guild or whatever.
That statement of yours in bold that I quoted is more naive and ignorant, and definetely more trollish than my statement of most of them being 14. Difference was when I said mine I was clearly hyperbolising, while when you said yours you were full of yourself and obviously trying to be serious.
The irony of calling me a smelly troll (how can you troll a thread where the OP claims WOW to be the best game ever?) and making the most wild guess/lie/assumption possible by saying that all the WOW gamers you've met are of 20+ is incredible.
I've disproved you using common sense. There's no way you can do that to me in this case, so you'd actually have to bring up the source of some sort of statistic which would show that most WoW gamers are 20+ and that many are in their 40's.

Ok just to put the kybosh on that wonderful theory, I am in a guild with over 50 members and they all over the age of 25 and play more than 20 hours a week, we all have families, we all work and we all have a social life.
Just stop with all the bitching and moaning. Games are meant to be fun, if ya dont like it dont play it and go find something else(unless your a real sado and can do nothing but moan about how crap everything is because the world owes you a living), obviously there are people out there who do like it or it would be dead by now.
And yes there are annoying kids out there, god we kicked em out..... but there are annoying kids everywhere, just seems like the ones in wow are more noticable
Last time I checked Worl of Warcraft was way better than guild wars because the graphics are better the Group and honor system rock way harder and it has been the most nominated game of the year and has won over 6 awards
1) The graphics are not better then Guild Wars its quite the opposite.
2) Guild Wars and WoW are not the same kind of games.
3) Guild Wars is free and thus alot smaller and more simple.
4) WoW PvP is stale and stagnant, nothing you do effects the world.
5) WoW is based on repetition, so nothing ever changes.
6) WoW is extremely simple and has almost no learning curve.
7) WoW hit the market at the right time and went after the right kind of people, teenangers.
8) It won the awards because its the most popular mmo in the world, not the best. Plus you awards dont equal truth.
9) Your a fanboy, thus your perspective is questionable at best.

You're serious?
Ok let's take some numbers.
A week has 168 hours.
Average work week is 40 hours, add the time it takes to get there and back as 1 hour per day. 47 Hours
A proper social life takes about 10-15 hours a week.
Family responsabilities, daily tasks etc will take about a couple of hours per day (dropping and picking kids up at school, etc.) That means 14 hours over a week.
Sleeping is recommended at 8-9 hours. Let's say you sleep 8 hours per day and 9 on the weekends, that means 58 hours of sleep per week.
Everyday personal tasks like showering, taking a dump, eating, makeup (for women), etc. will take another 2 hours per day at least. So that's another 14 hours.
So that's 168-47-15-14-58-14 = 20 hours for entertainment.
That means you spend 20 hours of your week playing WoW, leaving 0 hours for all other activities, such as watching T.V, playing sports, etc. which leaves you 1 hour per week.
Unless you somehow manage to cut down on some of that stuff I listed above, THE ONLY fun thing you'll be doing in your life (including during weekends) is playing WoW. It's your only entertainment. You don't watch T.V, you don't do sports...
I mean I guess it's possible, but it's pretty damn extreme. I mean to wake-up after 8 hours of sleep, do your daily stuff, drop your kid off, run to work, socialise during breaks, rush to your kid's school to pick them up after work, run home, eat, and then sit and play WoW until you go to sleep? And perhaps socialise on week-ends with some people. That's one hell of a boring way of life, no offense or anything. I mean if you're telling me 50 people in your guild are average guys with families, jobs etc. and that they all do this then....that's one messed up guild.

It's different with games that aren't MMOs. They don't put any responsability to other players on your shoulders. You don't have to log on to join in a raid or fleet battle or else you're betraying your promise. With singleplayer games there are no such promises, so it's much easier to reduce gaming time whenever real life demands it.
The scenario he described was unrealistically extreme at best. The only time I ever played 20+ hours per week is during summer holidays, and I can't keep it up for long (max two week) before I start undersleeping, etc. But the fact that he says all of the 50 guild members are adults with jobs and families, who do this EVERY week....well that's just screwed up.

The only reason i'm posting atm is because i'm waiting for my friend to help solve a maths problem through MSN. It' supposed to take 2-3 minutes without a calculator but we can't find a formula that let's you get a precise answer in that much time without a calculator. + i'm eating.
As to 30 hours...LUCKY YOU! what job you got? Damn I wish my job will be that short.
Oh and you know there's a thing called satelite. In fact our satelite here in Belgium is cheaper than local cable, so I can pretty much watch 2000 channels from any countries. It doesn't have to limit to UK T.V. (which is in most cases boring, top gear can be quite good but most things are crap).
I played this game, it done absolutly nuthin to peak my interests, it does not expand any limits of what mmo's can be, it definatly doesnt test the limits of my puters hardware, i would say it would take me heroin to play it as it would go well with the nod-out.

That's where your wrong, single player games can be quite as addicting as multiplayer games i mean sure u dont have to promise anything to players but you can really wanna find out what happens in the story as such is with FFXII for me, sure i play wow more but i never get bored of playing FFXII for a bit unwraveling the amazing graphics of the next cutscene and storyline addition, i must say square enix did an amazing job with FFXII all around and another amazing 1 player game that is addicting is Resident Evil 4 i played that for hours on end it made me jump scream and shoot the hell outta some freaky ass villagers, (I still play it after beating n such) As for the promises...to yourself?... think about that...so why don't you tell me?

Any game can be addictive. Even text based games can be addictive. Of course they can be. I was addicted to Oblivion, F.E.A.R., Half Life 2, GTA:SA, Civ 4, Medieval II: Total War, etc. The list goes on. The point is that when there's something important irl that I need to attend to like exam revision, I can much more easily fight against an addiction that only affects me, as opposed to in MMOs where it's not just addiction you're fighting, but the responsability factor too. You might be telling yourself "but if I don't participate in this battle, they might lose it and blame it all on me and hours of effort will be gone!" etc, etc.
Basically, it's harder to fight against both addiction and responsability to other players than just addiction. All I stated was that MMOs put responsability on your shoulders. I mean, promises? Consciously I hate myself for spending time playing games 95% of the time, and the only thign that drives me is subconsicous addiction to the game, though i'm now able to combat that 90% of the time. Whereas betraying people in an MMO that you've known for a long time simply makes you feel bad.
Well I can proudly say that if you do not like this game than you havent done 2 things. 1) Watch videos posted on www.youtube.com and search up World of Warcraft, 2) Play it
ROFL. OK. Why would a MMORPG fan want to watch stupid youtube videos of WoW? I mean, seriously, why? If WoW was so fun to play, then why waste time waching WoW videos when you can be playing it yourself? WoW fanboy logic FTL. So you have managed to break down why people don't like WoW because they simply don't watch youtube loser WoW videos and don't play WoW either. Truly, this is the logic and anaylsis of a WoW fanboy. Imagine living in his world. Be afraid, be very araid.
The reason I talk about WoW videos instead of plying it is because at home my dad's computer doesn't have enough memory to play it because of his porn vids and pics

all I can say about WoW fanbois these days is report report report.... Can't be arsed arguing with them anymore, sick of having to make the same points over and over again, your a disgrace to the game that you worship and to the people that actually play the game and can post things better than "WoW rulezzzz"
Quoting people doesn't make you clever, in fact, it makes you all the more stupid for not bothering to read the quotes you post in the first place.

Ok let's take some numbers.
So i'll ask again... Are you serious?

You really are one for crap statistics, ok my working week is 30hours my unlucky guildies some are housewives, some work 37.5hours a week (accounting for travel 40).. stop with the constant nit picking.... You really must have nothing better to do in your life.... and you are the one saying I am extreme and if ya know what UK TV is like you would never watch it in the first place...
Slightly off topic but I feel the need to get it off my chest:-

ROFL.
