1. Supercrap is full of crap, theres so many people from 01,02,03,04 over there it makes his entire statement laughable. Additionally, he is probably the same guy that does this Darkfall spam all over the internet, seeing as how thats a freshly created alt account.
2. In response to third echelon, people have regularly stopped by their studios to actually see if someone is there and working on it. They exist, the game exists, people have actually PLAYED it, whether or not its gonna suck, well thats up to opinion when it does go live, but it exists.
What you mean there is no UI in any picture?? It is shown several times in screenshots and in the videos....its one of DF features....a very "small" UI.
Darkfall is my dream MMO! Why cant i dream of a good MMO?
It doesnt matter if its not released. I still dream of playing such a game.
Sure! i can just fall in the line of players that are happy with WoW and all WoW clones. But im not.
So if you can show me another good MMO i dream of, be my guest
And if noone dares to dream....then we are stuck with WoW clones forever....
I have not heard much about this game, but since I look at the recent videos this game is going to kick ass and people will love this game, as long at people are really working there ass off and try to make this game for the people. Lets give it some time, and wait for news of the open beta/closed beta testing that will be out for this game. So that we can finnally play this game where it's all free for all. Be evil, Be good, Craft the hell out of the items of the world, build an empire and start wars and allience with other empires. This game is the best game since DAoC and Everquest back in the day. So people, we could at least help them out on something that we could do to make our dream mmorpg come true, since countless of greedy companies refuse to make the games that we wanted to play.
Its weird, noone can read up on DF on the official DF site...and not be effected. Either you stop playing whatever MMO you have, or you slowly begin to shake your head and scream its vaporware!
How can a little MMO have such effect?
All other MMOs i read about, i just go "hmm looks ok" or something. I cant imagine how it must feel for the ones that have been waiting or denied since 2001.
Doubt its vaporware, its one of the most highly anticipated games in the works right now. I've reviewed the play and rules of the game and I do believe it has the potential to knock the socks off of anything currently being played, and might even displace WOW as the lead MMO game to play.
Although it has the potential to do it, it doesn't mean that it will. It all depends on the developers and how effective they are at selling the game to all those players who already have invested months, sometimes years, into the games they're currently now playing. There has to be a very good reason to convince players to switch and spend time with this game instead.
Am I the only one who is very tired of 'vapourware' being thrown around as such a buzzword?
I doubt that Darkfall will release, but it is just a silly term that is rarely used correctly in terms of its original meaning.
Vapourware is a false product, a hoax. Something that is announced and/or advertised yet never produced. Darkfall and many games like it are developed to a (often playable) point yet simply never released.
Lately, I have been seeing new projects called 'vapourware' within two months of their announcement. Bizarre.

You don't seem to know what vaporware means.
vaporware
/vay'pr-weir/ n. Products announced far in advance of any release (which may or may not actually take place).
bored of darkfall already... seems like ive been playing it for years.
Who are there devs kidding (well most people it seems) its never gonna live up to the hype, it may have most of the features they promise but it with the size of thier dev team its gonna lack creature models, item models, buildings, original terrain features, spell/animation effects plus the non WoW standard level of bugs / exploits will be present etc etc. It will be so barebones when its released, the best to realistically hope for is that the mechanics / features they implement are so well done and make the most of what game assests they do have, that it can carry the rest of the game.
The devs aint stupid,at least not with marketing they certainly make the most of what they have when it comes to that, i just hope they are as good at actually making the game viable.
From the huge devotion of fans to the endless years of development, through the sever hype, it looks like Dark and Light all over again... but this time they wont get my money or even my time... like they say "once it's the others fault, twice it's your fault"
this thing reminds me of dark and light. A company comes out of nowhere (seycheles? greece? wtf?) and promises the stars and the sky, but cannot show much, even though they are working for their title for years. i looks really dodgy if you ask me. Greece and the gaming industry do not go together. i believe they are laundering money.
It shouldn’t remind you of Dark & light. Darkfall’s previously announced beta was postponed and the game went back into development when D&L was still just a concept. Darkfall got the extra funding it needed to extend development and expand the scope of the game to what you see today. Games like Dark & Light did not get that same chance and did not have what it took to launch a playable game. Neither did Mourning, Wish or Dragon Empires. If Darkfall had proceeded with the scheduled beta it likely would have went vapor like those craptastic memories. But instead they stayed in development, lost some face and have a better chance at making this thing work.
I doubt it will ever be a Huge game because you can be killed without consent and many people cant accept that. But for those of us who want that extra challenge, need that extra challenge, to make the game worth while Darkfall is the ONLY option.

Perhaps, you need to check up on what vaporware means.
Vaporware; A semi-affectionate slang term for software which has been announced and perhaps even demonstrated, but not delivered to commercial customers.
A term used to describe a piece of software that doesn't exist, is suspected not to exist, or is incapable of performing as promised. It is not uncommon for a software corporation to make fantastic promises as to the functionality of an upcoming software release that ultimately prove to be undeliverable. In the software industry, there is often something of a yin/yang relationship between marketing efforts and technical capabilities. ...
There is a reason you see this word so much. There is so much of it!
If Darkfall never comes to be, none of us are worse off. A little disappointed maybe but the mere fact that this game, despite such an undercurrent of disbelief, sits at a 7.0 Hype rating means that at least the ideas it presents are widely accepted and desired by the MMO playing community. This is just what us 'full PvP, meaning death, no class, with a touch of RP' players want and it's put us in a win-win situation. Darkfall comes out as promised, we get the game we want to play, if it doesn't it's shown the big guys how to bring in the MMO players money and we're bound to have a game we like eventually.
I stopped playing WoW because even on a supposedly full PvP server you'd always get the high levelled onlooker in thier home city just watching the invading enemy players slaughter guards and newbs. At least a quarter of the world was still 'PvP by consent' and any battle for land control just became a case of 'which side gets bored first losses'.
I stopped playing SWG because once the NGE hit character creation became a simple 'pick a template to level through'. The added level of customized skill prgression and a huge chunk of the games RP possibility was thrown out the window, all without warning or consent and on the heels of a pay for expansion. I liked being the Rifleman/Ranger...
EvE was the game that held my interest the longest, and they're a one server operation. The time based skill progression and lack of an avatar/toon beyond the starship were the major factors that made me stop my sub (though given the new and proposed changes I may go back to it)
I'm not interested in WAR, it's another set in stone character leveler, even restricting classes to races, plus it's PvP is a 'only here, not there, let's try to please everyone' mess.
AoC is a bit iffy, I like the maturity to it, and the PvP seems tolerable (city seiges and the badlands...) but it's still a class based game with set faction choice.
All in all, Darkfall seems to be just the game I'm looking for and I'm not about to give up hoping it might see the light of day just because some nerds fancy themselves prophets. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if Infinity comes out and proves to be a huge success, and from what I can tell it's only got one dev and a handful of contributers...
I think its funny how all the kiddies run to the forums with their superman under roos and yell vaporware at games that are still in development. Its an assumption, and only fools assume anything .
Games are done when they are done, unless your EA or SOE or something and just want to force the game out early to cash in on it, and patch later, which is a understood fact with a proven track record.
The Dev's over at Darkfall have stated the game will be done when its done and not a second less. So whats vaporware?
What cause its not out when you think it should be out? Tough shit.
Life is too short to be an ass kisser and a fanboi to any game or company, so you should try going outside and living it. Mommy and daddy wont be alive forever to take care of ya so you need to figure it out.

Or probably trying to make it by making their homepage an adsite...
The whole "OMG HARDCORE" argument is as funny as claiming a game thats never had more than 20 people playing it at one time can support 10k...
Some say "people have played it"... have they? Have they really? Or have they just played a small small sandbox built for show?
There is no way to prove that it isn't... and unless they have a way to completely revamp their engine/GFX no matter how hardcore they will be releasing an '03 game in '08... '09? 20XX?
people's fanaticism is truely a wonderment sometimes, it explains how people can be fighting over the same shit in the middle east thousands of years later...

From what I can find on the net came out a small norwegian company called Razorwax. They didn't get the funding they needed in Norway, so they got it from Greece. I guess Norway had only place for one major gaming company (Funcom)...
Anyhow, the development are probably going slow because they are only about 6-12 guys making it.

10 people don't relocate to another country and use 4+ years of their lives to set up an ad site. I don't know these people but I do not think we can question their dedication to their game. Just like the DnL devs, "miscalculations" about the developpement length and about the quality of their game didnt make them crooks.... right?

Personally I hope they take their time, more good games have been ruined by putting something out before it is ready.
I do think that there are going to be a lot of things they have promised like ships and such that won't make the initial release which is understandable with the small staff they have.

If it has; remove the game from the forums, write an article about a failed mmorpg project that promised too much and delivered nothing.
If it is still being developed, which most people doubt, update us on it.
