so i went to wikipedia. and look up Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and i found in the Sequels area of the page SOE has been confirmed to have lost the Star Wars license,[citation needed] though there has been no confirmation that BioWare will be producing a KotOR MMORPG. see SOE did lose the star wars rights and they will should down galaxies at the end of next year or at the end of this year and if you dONT TRUST ME.GO TO THIS LINK and see yourself http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars:_Knights_Of_The_Old_Republic#Sequels
LOL, he's quoting wiki likes it's a reliable source. I almost hurt myself laughing.Right wikipedia lied and is playing a joke on everone.Come would they say soe has confirmed if they were going to lie.Look i trust wikipedia.
Wow, you aren’t very bright. You realize that the stuff on Wikipedia isn’t put there by reporters or experts. It is put there by any idiot with a computer and a network connection.
PreCU! wait.. what? no yeh!.. wait... precu FTW? i think yeh....
They will probably use a class system as well as a somewhat linear story like with all their games even if they do make it. If you are looking for the skill tree/sandbox it probably wont be here. I've played many of their games and they are all structured in a WoWish manner.

I KNow THAT NOW.mAN YOU DONT HAVE TO TO BE MEAN just say it not true man.
Please, Mr. Lucas, pull the SOE plug and let efficient ppl to do the work. Bury NGE-SWG at once. Six feet under, and dance on the graveyard; if KOTOR MMO comes true none will want to play SWG anyways. Make it die shorter.
It's funny how everyone here has so much faith in a Bioware developed StarWars MMO seeing as how LucasArts is just as, if not more responsible for the NGE as SOE. It's a shame everyone lays the blame squarely on SOE when it really wasn't all their fault. But yeah, someone must be blamed, and it couldn't be LucasArts right? No, of course not, everything LucasArts does is beyond reproach, hell, just look at those awesome Star Wars prequels they made.........(personal note here:RoTS was a great movie and lived up to the legacy, but the first two were pure trash and I'd love to see someone say that wasn't LA's fault)
Also, SOE could NOT have lost the Star Wars license or else SWG would not still be called STAR WARS Galaxies. They may not have the license to make another SWG, but that doesn't mean they lost the license really. Not only that, but we should be realistic, there is MOST LIKELY a clause in SOE's contract saying they have exclusive rights to the Star Wars MMO license.
I'm not saying an MMO set in the KoTOR universe wouldn't be neat.....but we also have to consider that the closest thing BioWare has ever made to an MMO is the original NWN and KoTOR's linear RPG formula wouldn't make the jump to MMO very well. So a KoTOR MMO would be nothing like KoTOR, just set in that universe.
I'm not trying to shoot you all down, I'd be very interested in seeing a BioWare developed MMO as well. But, I seriously doubt it will be a Star Wars MMO. These last few years it seems BioWare has been all about creating, and developing games based on their own Intellectual Properties while they have been handing off all the sequels and licenses to other developers.
teddyboy i dont think them films are that bad. better than the episodes 5,6and7 although they are amazing for thier time. the worst thing geroge lucas ever did is the re-make of episodes 5,6and7 its awful! just added really ancient computer effects that make it alot worse.
anyway all the films are pretty sucky in my opinion, i only liked them when i was young. i prefer the storylines in kotor i think starwars is a great story and universe, i just think the films are pretty naff.
With the demand shown for a Kotor MMO i highly doubt that LA and BioWare would pass up the chance of making a block buster SW MMO.
SW MMO has already been done. The fans of that game pissed all over it before the CU, after the CU, after the NGE.. theres a long history of Star Wars purists pissing on the game.
you think Bioware would walk back in to that snake pit? You really think Bioware would make a game that SWG fans are dying for...which obviously the only thing that would make them happy is a pre-cu skill based game? You know KotR is a leveled based game, and may be even more arcadish than the current SWG in an MMO format?
I just cant wait for them to announce their MMO with the new IP that they have already officially said it would be a new IP (refresh my memory, is Star Wars a new IP?) so we can bag this discussion once and for all
the voice in this small community is really nothing. you should see the rumblings on the mass effect boards and the NWN boards on this discussion if you think the Star Wars Galaxies fan base is making a stir.

They NEVER said anything about their IP if it is original or licenced.
Contrarily, if you look at the Job at this link, you can see it seems to be a Licenced IP:
BioWare Austin is searching for a Producer-Licensor Liaison to assist the team in the development of assigned products from concept to release. The successful candidate will have the primary responsibility for tracking, managing license submissions, and securing approvals from a 3rd party licensor.
Project Management
Manages and tracks all license approval submissions and the overall submission process including follow up and contract compliance.

yes they are usually using class system, but their games arent Wowish. They were here before Wow. We can trust bioware imo.

BioWare have two MMO studios i believe, the Austin one works on outside IP's and the other works on in house IP's. But it has been reported that BioWare have put together a new team for a KOTOR MMO. So if that is correct them they havn't even started work on it yet so we have what six or seven years to wait for it. In the mean time i'm looking forward to the MMO they are making based on an in house IP.
I think its not true man this would be so complicated Austin studio is the only studio for the MMO imo.
PreCU! wait.. what? no yeh!.. wait... precu FTW? i think yeh....

I know Bioware was here before WoW. All I was saying is that their single player games are structured very similiar to WoW. That is a good thing IMO as it will be a game I enjoy. I've always loved playing their CRPGs other then NWN. I just wanted to point out it wont be SWG Pre CU IMO if the game is indeed being made. If you like KOTOR games you probably will like the MMO.
I can't get that excited about it. Even if they were doing a KOTOR MMORPG, it would release in what? 2010 or something at the earliest?
They bought Hero Engine and Stream Processing Engine for this game. They will cut development time for years... and the game developing since December 2005. So i think we will play it sooner than you suppose.
A Baldur's gate online would be too small as would NwN. I think it should be a FR game that goes from Icewind Dale down as far as Amn. Then we would have a D&D MMO that would cover NeverWinter, Baldur's Gate and the famous city of Splendor: Waterdeep.
I would call it Tales of the Sword Coast.
I know the name has already been used as a expansion for BG. But this naming of "Online" is getting very old and over used.
However if they would cover most of the northern coast of Faerun then the name would fit perfectly. Unless of course if future expansions added more in land or southern Faerun then the name would have to change. Hmm, or maybe not if the adventures always ties back into the sword coast region.

Now talks of bioware maymake a mmorpg was in december 2005 and Developmen tof a bioware mmorpg began in march of 2006.So biware would not release before 2009 so Gilvane is right it will take a long time for bioware to make a mmorpg.
AND I FOUND THIS ON wikipedia IS IT true and if is true when did this happen and when will John Smedley servce his time.
John Smedley has recently been formerly charged with 500,000 counts of forcible sodomy on the SWG community and will serve 6 months in an imperial detention facility as a result.

You actually think that BioWare cares what SWG vets think. They will make a game they want to make, out of all the SW fans in the world only a very very small minority played SWG. So there is still a massive gap in the MMO market for a Kotor online. The thing with alot of SWG vets is that everytime a new gamwe is announced they get all exited and start saying it;s gonna be like pre-cu . Then when it isn't they slate the game.I agree. If SWG was such a hit in the beggining then why haven't any developers tried to make another game like it. It wasn't and no independent developers are interested at the moment so this small group of people who liked SWG can't find a home and just hang around the forums hoping that another SWG will come along or try to convince people this is the best way to make a game. Everyone has differnt opinions on whats good and I hope SWG Pre CU people find a home somewhere, but I also hope that Bioware sticks to the way have always made their games and the KOTOR series which will result in a far more popular and more interesting game IMO.

but nobody hears

The perfect setting for an intriguing MMO. How this lost out to Eberron I'll never know.
i say it should b KOTOR!
both KoTOR 1 and KOTOR 2 were put together VERY well.
I still play KOTOR 2 to this day and there are still new things to discover!
Anything Fantasy.

Just wish some of the good features from SWG (just like in the beginning)
Living the life as I hav it
I'd really wish it was Kotor but I doubt it.
I bet it's gonna be Jade Empire or Mass Effect or ofcourse Baldurs Gate.
