Here he is again, cowering, dodging questions.

You still haven't told what was wrong about my screens, and how I supposedly forged them to bother you some more.

Ah but you can't read that, you ignored me.

It is precisely this that is my point.  Your opinion is based on BETA and release, and it would be valid if some one were considering buying the game at BETA or at release.

I like how you completely ignore the guy who actually resubscribed based on your newfound love of the game. According to him nothing has changed. He posted screenshots to back up his statements. Empty servers, poor framerates, etc.

What have you brought to the table other than blocking people who don't agree with you 100%?

Do you really think this person resubscribed and then provided a objective review and update based on their experience at launch compared to their experience now?  Come on.Look at the friggin launcher screenshot. Yes I took these screens today.

Want me to stand somewhere in particular doing a /handstand to prove it?

Come on, tell me. I'll go anywhere. Want me to create a special character, give me the race and class, it will take me 5 minutes to have a screenshot posted here.

Surely you want to show everyone I'm a liar. Go ahead.

Anyway Healz4U is playing the knight in shiny armor, but he can't face his opponents. Whenever someone goes against his ideas, he ignores them. This knight in tinfoil armor doesn't fight, he cowers in fear to be proved wrong.

OK, tell you what.  Let's pretend I am somebody that played at launch and resubscribed today.  I'll post a screen  of med-high pop servers, I'll post a screen of me getting 80 fps, I'll post a screen of /who showing 40 max players in multiple chunks, I'll post screens showing no bugs, I'll post a screen of me in Dargun's tomb with a log full of 30ish quests to complete.  And then I'll claim the opposite of what you claimed.

The point folks are trying to make here is that if someone is interested in the game... then try it out with a free trial and then they can decide if they like it or not.  WHY IS THAT SO THREATENING TO YOU TROLLS????

  • ValkanisarValkanisar Member UncommonPosts: 494

i still have an active account to this game, though i wont be resubbing at all. not because of the million of bugs still in game, i can deal with bugs and work around them. not because my comp cannot handle the game, my comp plays this game fine with most settings maxed and some at 75%. not because of the empty servers, i like to play solo most of the time anyways, is why i made a psi in the first place. the main reason is we are expected to continue to pay for a beta 1 game to fund a nge and who knows what else by the end of the year where all our time just might be wasted. since some people have not read brads latest book, ill quote what irks me the most.

"In summary, there are arguably a lot of people who by mid to end of this year in the MMOG gamespace for whom Vanguard could potentially be very attractive. What the game needs is a re-launch of sorts, including targeted marketing campaigns, an all-around successful move by gamers to the next generation of hardware, continued good word of mouth ‘viral' marketing by those who are already playing, enjoying, and re-subscribing. And all of this could and should ramp up by the end of the year, all the while the Vanguard team is putting in more content, the live team filling out high level content as well as adding to areas of the game's vast seamless world which are a bit empty. Then a re-launch towards the end of the year plus the first expansion"

so if this makes me a "hater" then so be it. im just not some tool test bed to be milked by some bankrupt corporation till they finish what should of already been finished.

    @boojiboy

Well stop talking and do it.

The point is: on my machine, and on many others, the game just doesn't WORK. Do I have the right to be upset about that? You bet I do!

If only the gameplay was okay, but it's a booooooring grind fest.

Now understand me, I would like the game to be succesful, I would like the game to be great, and if it was, I would be defending it.

But the fact is the game is bugged, it has poor performances (if brad says so, how can you even say otherwise?) AND the population is dropping like leaves in autumn.

Waiting for your screens of the mid-high population, among others. You have 10 minutes. Yes I'm picky.
  • StrikeTeamStrikeTeam Member Posts: 69
Here I took 2 other screens of the population.

Now where do you want me to do that handstand?
  • KariTRKariTR Member Posts: 375

What server are you logging into? I havent seen that message of the day for quite a while in Vanguard (Feb maybe) and had assumed all servers would have the same missive.

For the record, the message of the day on Varking has been "Welcome to Vanguard" for at least a week. Thats all, nothing else.

  • KariTRKariTR Member Posts: 375

Oh and for the OP, if you haven't already, take the performance test to see if your PC is capable of running VG. The link is stickied at the top of the forums.

A buddy key is an option if you can get hold of one, but as these same posters pointed out earlier this month, VG is reduced now so it's not a great cost to try the game out, even if you eventually find it isnt for you.

  • StrikeTeamStrikeTeam Member Posts: 69
Logging into Gelenia, and the message is still there. Has been there for a while.

    Try it.

But if you doubt, once again, have me create a character, you choose the race and the emote, I'll take a screen.

    These SS are 100% authentic.

I never really had many problems with the game, as far as performance from release, to April 5th when my acct ran out.

Since some were lauding it as a much changed game, and trying to claim anyone who wasn't fellating the game top to bottom hadn't played since beta, I figured I'd poke my head in.

Amusingly, or not as it happens, I finish patching a couple minutes ago. Log in, Sigil screen, SOE screen, Nvidia screen, then the loading screen with the ant, or whatever pops up, and BLAM, BSOD'ed, and my pc reboots.

Not the most confidence inspiring of moments.

Here's hoping the second time is the charm.

With all servers besides Gelenia on low, Gelenia was medium.

If you noticed the trend, this was posted some hours after the last, when Gelenia had low. In EU CET time the clock is now 19:00. If you wait another 5-6 hours you will notice that some of the US servers go from low to medium.

    Forgot to mention that?

Your screenshot with the graphic error well they wasn't there last week, why they are there now, don't know. But luckely for you they was there for you to make your point. Nothing more.

And how come I can run the game with similar FPS as you with high quality settings.

    I have:

    Processor:  AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5200+, MMX, 3DNow (2 CPUs), ~2.6GHz

    Memory:  2046MB RAM

    Video Card:  Radeon X1900 Series

While that is not to low FPS you also 'guard' yourself with the I dont enjoy the game, well that is your opinion.

And also note that the FPS is when the game is run in windowed mode.

I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention.

Hmmm.. why is it so important to you that I take a screen shot of the server selection screen within the next 10 minutes?  Maybe because it's 12pm CST and the MAJORITY OF VG PLAYERS ARE AT WORK AND NOT PLAYING RIGHT NOW?  Like me?!
  • ColdmeatColdmeat Member UncommonPosts: 3,409

    Oops.

    Second login... and reboot.

Mind you, this is with the same system, drivers, everything with which I was able to play the game on just shy of the highest settings 3 to 4 weeks ago.

So it would seem that, at least for me, the performance has had a rather drastic decrease...

  • StrikeTeamStrikeTeam Member Posts: 69
Whatever,  take one at the time of your choice.

PS for Leisure SuiT Larry: No, I was not in windowed mode, and I really wonder what makes you think that.

    Well, you tell me.

You know very well that the game doesn't run the same depending on the machine, your astrological sign, the weather,  the moon, and wether you are left handed or not.

here are my screens taken oh 2 minutes ago or so.

    and the second one

Yep, Im still playing but the new shader stuff they did (*looks blank*) has reduced performance for me over the last week. Time to double my RAM to 2GB.

Since your example of this exciting boss encounter amounted to "The boss moved, and so it was a great fight" no.. I don't know which quest you're talking about.  Again, this level of content is not going to be enough for anybody who has played a game made in the last decade.

And yes, most of my diplomacy was grinding.. but I did do the HZ quest line ( and a few others of much lower quality ) and the story was fairly good.  However, that's the exception  and doesn't make up for the mind numbing mechanics of a simple card game.  That's not even taking into consideration how un-immersive the whole system is.  I have a hard time imagining a UN meeting starting by all the diplomats reaching into their pockets and pulling out a stack of cards.

My level was secondary to me as well.. I wanted challenging and unique encounters.   Which simply do not exist in this game.

No I am. I added that edit in a bit mess.

I get 28 Fullscreen and around 20 windowed.

I'll be honest with you Lance, I was gonna be a Diplomat first and foremost at one point. The point before I got into beta. Like yourself, Diplomacy in VG isnt developed enough for me to make a full-time game out of, but that is no reason to diss a guy simply because he takes pleasure from an unexpected happening.

Some of us arent burned out on MMOs and can still take pleasure from simple things; like a fight not being over when we thought it was, like a boat ride up a river or out into the ocean; like adventuring for a week (real time) to eventually ride an virtually untamed animal at the speed of light or even seeing the branches on the tree you just felled shake and bounce as they hit the ground.

There are some things that Sigil didnt do too well, or downright got wrong. But there are many things they got spot on and if youre too jaded to experience that then you have my sympathy.

  • StrikeTeamStrikeTeam Member Posts: 69
I guess I'm jaded, I just don't see what you think they got spot on.

I on the other hand see what they got wrong. in no particular order:

    -Character advancement options are inexistent.

    -Grouping is forced.

-Dungeons are nice, kinda, although they don't really allow any interaction and there are still bugs like mobs aggroing from nowhere or elevators that make you teleport left and right.

-Leveling is a grind, quests are just here for fancy.

    -Crafting is a grind.

-Diplomacy is a card game, and a boring one at that.

-The world is *not* seamless. Asheron's call 1 and 2 were seamless.

-Nice vistas, poor performances on some machines for reasons unknown. Buying the game is like a dice game: you win or you lose depending on your luck, not on your skills/machine.

    -Poor character models.

-Poor shader implementation (is that water or a thin white veil?)

-Poor textures overall (particularly the trees on Thestra. Their textures look like stretched 8 bit textures)

    -Poor animations

-Poor particles effects. Really, really, really poor.

-Boats have no actual use. Even less now that teleporters are live.

    -Houses have no actual use.

-Quests are very linear and very classic. No animation upon quest fulfillment, the NPC never ever moves.

-The world is too large and thus, too empty.

-No solo dungeons. If you want to go in a dungeon you have to be in a group...which is not easy considering the low population on all servers.

And I can go on and on forever.

Bottom line: The game doesn't run well on my 6 months old system, and the gameplay, for me, sucks balls.
  • nolfnolf Member UncommonPosts: 869

Thanks for the input everyone. I didn't know there was a buddy trial, so I'm certainly going to give that a shot, since I want to see if it runs on my computer.

Thanks for the input everyone, even if it DID turn into a fight as usual

I really hope that *insert game name here* will be the first game to ever live up to all of its pre-release promises, maintain a manageable hype level and have a clean release. Just don't expect me to hold my breath.

    Not sure what you mean.

    -Grouping is forced.

    Fat out lies.

-Dungeons are nice, kinda, although they don't really allow any interaction and there are still bugs like mobs aggroing from nowhere or elevators that make you teleport left and right.

    Have not seen these issues.

-Leveling is a grind, quests are just here for fancy.

Some of my best gear is coming from quests, and the grind is made by the user by the way he or she plays.

    -Crafting is a grind.

Have not got in to it yet, will later when i am older, having too much fun with other things.

-Diplomacy is a card game, and a boring one at that.

I disagree, for me its very new and fun to do.

-The world is *not* seamless. Asheron's call 1 and 2 were seamless.

Seamless enough for me. Better then most crap like LOTRO instances.

-Nice vistas, poor performances on some machines for reasons unknown. Buying the game is like a dice game: you win or you lose depending on your luck, not on your skills/machine.

    I answer this last.

    -Poor character models.

I disagree big time. They look great.

-Poor shader implementation (is that water or a thin white veil?)

Lakes and oceans looks great to me, what I dislike is the shoreline, but everything else looks good.

-Poor textures overall (particularly the trees on Thestra. Their textures look like stretched 8 bit textures)

I disagree, they look much better then LOTRO cartoon look.

    -Poor animations

Flat out lies. That something that was said by beta testers at beta 2. The game I play now has great animations.

-Poor particles effects. Really, really, really poor.

Flat out lies again,  you still playing beta 2?

-Boats have no actual use. Even less now that teleporters are live.

Can not answer this. Dont have one.

    -Houses have no actual use.

What are houses suppose to be, to store and show off stuffs?

-Quests are very linear and very classic. No animation upon quest fulfillment, the NPC never ever moves.

Flat out lies again, you seem not to playing the same game that I am playing. I can work on quests that I do not have, just by collecting the quest drops. Again you a liar, yes a lair, VG NPC are always moving. Seen NPC miners, laugh, cry or even get mad. They dance and many other emotes by them selfs. So again your not playing the VG of today.

-The world is too large and thus, too empty.

Again you speaks lies, and more talking points of beta 2 problems, not the game of today. Who are you trying to fool? WTF is your problem? The world is huge and it has so much stuff to do its mind breaking.

-No solo dungeons. If you want to go in a dungeon you have to be in a group...which is not easy considering the low population on all servers.

Omg, are you so just a noob, that you can not solo in VG dungeons? I am soloing them fine. Can I solo all of them, nope, but I sure can hold my self well on some of them. Finding groups in VG is easy. YOU MUST ENABLE LFG TAG ! LFG= looking for group for you WOW players.

And I can go on and on forever.

Might want to refresh your screen, we are not in beta 2 anymore. Before you post more lies.

Bottom line: The game doesn't run well on my 6 months old system, and the gameplay, for me, sucks balls.

This is my favorite one of all. I keep hearing this all the time. The other day someone approach me, and asked me what games do I play. I told him VG, and he wanted to play the game after i gave him details. He tells me that his computer is a good one and only one year old. I ask him, whats the memory and video card. The answer I got was very tipical. He told he has 512k and onboard video. I told him to stick to Diablo 2.  Just because you brought a computer today doesnt mean you didnt buy a crap one, lol. My system is about getting to 3 years old and its still better what some of you guys are buying today.

Whats the differances between a core player and a causal player? I answers this by telling you whats a casual is.

Casual gamer is a term used to describe a type of video game player whose time or interest in playing games is limited compared with a hardcore gamer. They can be found playing games across all genres and of varying levels of complexity and difficulty. However, they do not devote the amount of time or practice to video games spent by hardcore gamers. Whereas a hardcore gamer may approach gaming with the mindset of a professional, a casual gamer would think more like a hobbyist

My mindset is of a professional player so i try my best to have the right tools, hence computer, and you see my friend your mindset is of a hobbyist.

This why some hate VG, the game needs a good computer and the mindset of a player that wants more then WOW.

    To the OP:

My advice would be to get a buddy key to try it out. I would hold off buying or subscribing until we know exactly what the future holds in store for Vanguard. At this point nobody knows if SOE is taking it over, giving Sigil more money or if the game is just going to be shut down. It's all speculation but given Brad's latest message discussing all of it, there's no way I would ever advise anybody to buy and subscribe to Vanguard at this time.
