Frankly im tired of clicking a guy then sitting there as your guy automatically attacks and then hitting a few buttons to do some crappy special moves once every 30 seconds. Im sorry but if less interaction makes a better game then why not just watch a movie.
Nothing beats bowling over an entire screen of enemies with a skill you actually have some control over, other games are garbage compared to diablo 2, auto aim is a step backwards not forwards and thats a fact.
mmo combat is boring also.... i wasn't saying i liked it over diablo combat. i'd like the option of 3rd person hangover like MMOs or first person, and diablo-esque combat. i'm tired of clicking around a screen to move and attack... its the same with different gfx... diablo, dungeon siege, titan quest... bored of that.
starcraft mmo would be really quite good seeing as sci fi is relativley small time in mmo. the thing that would set starcraft off though is the amount of old players that love the game and want to keep playing so it would gain alot of players very quickly.
a diablo mmo would be really good as well seeing as diablo has so much more to offer thn wow, the combat system is more exciting for one. but i think the battlenet system will be better than an mmo based system so bring on diablo 3 or starcraft 2.
actuall diablo 2 probaly still has more players worldwide than wow suprisingly.
take what you can but not what isn't yours. "fight to the end and never give your enemy the satisfaction of victory"
As much as i would love a new Diablo, or even an mmo version of Diablo i as well think its Starcraft time now, there is a real lack of futuristic MMO atm and World of Starcraft would be a breath of fresh air in the current market, i would just hope it wouldn't be a clone of wow in a futuristic environnement, but even then it would still be a very sucessfull game i would eventually play, would be hilarous to be able to play the zerg and have 3 faction war ala daoc.
TBH I would love to see a D3 but in a wow setup, and then SC2, followed by SCO (Starcraft Online ofcourse) and then a DO (Diablo Online) after that, and in that time scale WoW will be approaching 6 years old by then and it will be ready to be replaced for newer members.
Actually arent they releasing their new games info on the 19th?
And challenging warhammer right now is the perfect strategy, its hard to pry people away from an MMO they have started playing since they gain guilds/friends and crap; and with WoW growing stale people will look to these newer mmo's coming out. So by releasing information on the starcraft mmo right now they are making it so people will either wait until it comes out or will at least anticipate it somewhat even if moving to a new game.
Also im pretty sure it will be a starcraft MMO, they got rid of starcraft ghost most likely to add what they had to the game, they have hellgate london to crush, and it seperates their market between "lord of the ring" type kiddies who play world of warcraft and "futuristic starwars" type kiddys who will play starcraft.
My prediction.......There won't be a Starcraft or Diablo 2 based MMO. Sorry those games have very limited and linear story lines. Starcraft ends with the destruction of the Overmind. Not to mention that aside from the Terrans, Protross and Zergs there isn't any other race to play. Diablo 2 is limited to just humans vs demons.
I predict that if there is a new MMO it will have an entirely new story line and lore. It will be a new game built up from the ground to flow with a MMO style of game play. As for the other two games they may well be continuation of the Starcraft and Diablo 2 games series but they will not be MMO's. In fact I predict that Blizzard might even branch one of those games out into the console arena. These are my predictions so if you don't agree with them oh well tough cookies.
Games I've played/tried out:WAR, LOTRO, Tabula Rasa, AoC, EQ1, EQ2, WoW, Vangaurd, FFXI, D&DO, Lineage 2, Saga Of Ryzom, EvE Online, DAoC, Guild Wars,Star Wars Galaxies, Hell Gate London, Auto Assault, Grando Espada ( AKA SoTNW ), Archlord, CoV/H, Star Trek Online, APB, Champions Online, FFXIV, Rift Online, GW2.
you guys can speculate all you want, blizzard is not going to release any of this anytime soon.
If they COULD put a new mmo out on the market tomorrow, they would only steal thier own customers.
and I doubt they will have the guts to challenge Warhammer within it's first 2 years.
You sound like a wow fanboi(not flaming) But you must to see how much more money they will make, They wont be stealing there own customers they will be gaining old customers, Yeah some will prob quit WoW but oh well WoW is dull.

I do not think it will be a Starcraft MMO, If the Korean website is right the is a new race for Starcraft . And remember there's 3 announcments this will waich one will be a new game and a MMO, So we never know

I agree with you the MMO will prob be a new game, I guess we will find out in due timel
Playing: Everthing Played: DAoC,AC2,EvE,SWG,WAR,MXO,CoX,EQ2,L2,LOTRO,SB,UO,WoW. I have played every MMO that has ever come out.
m1sf1t has a good point, they will most likely have a whole new game which would be a smart move, playing the same story for so long is kind of boring, so a new game would be refreshing. At the same time i think it would be nice to see a FPS version of Starcraft.
I think there will be a Diablo 3, I remember seeing a 2008 release a while ago, maybe 2007, i cant remember
I didn't realize there were so many WoW clones...seeing WoW was the first MMO ever made..oh wait, wasn't there something before WoW, another MMO or 2 or 3 or ....
It is a fact that Blizzard is working on a Diablo III. When it is in a more finished state, I am sure we will hear about it. Of course they could change their minds too, but considering the game is still quite popular, I would doubt that.
Exactly how would a Diablo mmorpg be that different from World of Warcraft?
The assassin class was effectlivey translated straight over to WoW as the Rogue class. The Diablo skill system is WoW talents. The demonic other-worldly atmosphere is largely the Undead lands in WoW. Armor sets are employed in WoW. Jewel/Gem socketing is now used in WoW.
At this time about the only things that are unique to the Diablo franchise are henchmen, javelins and corpse explosion. I just don't see how they could justify translating it to an mmorpg over starcraft or creating a new IP.
Guild war's have all 3 henchmen, Javelins and corpse explosion.Well, the scope of the post was Diablo vs WoW, not Guild Wars but that is an interesting tidbit ( ' :

Blizzard has already corssed into the console arena with Diablo (for the playstation).
Tonight on Sci Fi Channel's Ghost Hunters, the team investigates Diablo 3. Is it real - or merely vaporware (cue spooky music).
All kidding aside, I don't think Diablo 3 will be out in the next several years. Blizzard already has a successful fantasy RPG on its hands with WOW, and the best business decision would be to diversify by developing a next-generation RTS. Looking at all the splash and record sales Command & Conquer 3 is generating, the Bliz devs would be idiotic not to return to the Starcraft franchise. They would double their investments in South Korea alone with a new Starcraft title.
The only thing I predict will speed up Diablo's development cycle is if Hellgate: London becomes a runaway hit.
Diablo 3 would be utterly nuts as an oblivion kinda game (twitch combat, aim your sword/bow/magic) with actual player skill involved yet i think its basicaly made around point and click.
WoW and Diablo 3 are only alike in terms of set skills and items are needed to be any good.
Starcraft MMO would only be good if its a first person shooter type of game built around PVP. otherwise it will fail to be a good game just like WoW

if they made starcraft2 out to be a pvp fps, it wouldn't be starcraft any more, they would have to do something that incorperated the story and everything into it.
just because its an FPS doesnt mean it couldnt be FPS+RPG. OBLIVION. I wouldnt want to point and click my way as a marine around, i'd want to be able to run around and shoot things myself, and just think of the suspense while running through a zerg hive.
Just because its an fps doesnt mean its just UT (Original) or Counter-strike 1.6. Im just saying i want it to be twitch combat.
You could still follow a storyline nad complete quests but i'd much rather Shoot myself then point and click each time i wanna shoot. I want some damn change with the way all these games are being created
but they should balance the game around PVP not PVE, cause thats where things go wrong and items become the basis for everything in a game. Should be more player skill than items level (www.darkfallonline.com)
I played D2 for a long time and had SIXTEEN level 99 toons; but I can’t imagine what they would add to D3 to make me even consider playing it. Sure, the graphics would probably be much better but the Diablo series gameplay is very structured and linear:
Step 1: level your character, select talents/skills
Step 2: run high-end dungeons over and over in search of rare loot
Step 3: participate in lame, gear-centric, PvP
Does that sound familiar to anyone? I don’t think Diablo as an MMO is likely since it already exists (but with another IP’s lore).

well i have to agree that d2 went along with the steps you put, but that's not all, there's lld's, hardcore, crafting, and you can always try making a char you know will suck but would be fun while doing it, like an enchantress with a widowmaker.
