Yup .. just like the title states . Lost it all in one big bang playing eve last week and decided to throw in the towell and re-try Vanguard. Talk about a great decision. A lot of what i read on these boards almost prevented me from returning but im glad common sense prevailed and i decided to ignore what ive read and re-try it out for myself. Have a level 13 Orc Shaman on the team PvP server (yea i know, still a noob) but im having a ball on him . The graphics were choppy at first but the game seams to cache itself as you play or something ,.. it runs smoother as you play/relog into the same areas. All in All the performance has improved greatly and i think im gonna stick it out for the long haul =D.
If your considering checking it out for the first time or even comming back for a second look I highly recommend you do so . Ignore all the "pissy hate folk" that are still beating on it. I think thier just toting about a grudge from that craptacular release that the game had. Felt so strongly about this that i opened an account here just to throw in my 2 bits. Peace =D

Wow i couldnt agree more. I neither hate nor like the game but that guy sounds like he works for the game.
"pissy hate folk"? I don't see how discussing the numerous faults with a game that's rated Beta is 'pissy hate'. The game is still beta and I advise people not to play. Hopefull for the games sake. six months down the line it might be nice to play.
You know, I stuck it out. I followed Vanguard for MONTHS before it hit retail. I waited, ignoring all the bullshit people were saying.
I finally got in during the last stage of beta. It seemed like it wasn't even ready for beta at that point, but I stuck it out. Spent 50$ getting the game, and played. I started with a guild. It was a nice guild. Almost 100 people pre-release. After release it just got boring fast.
I was a blacksmith, I was the highest blacksmith on gulgrethor for a while, and in the top 5 all together. But I didn't make it past 3 weeks. 80% of the guild I was in quit before that. It won't keep your attention long, I guarentee it.
The game just straight up sucks. I had high hopes for it. I loved the crafting system, which was the only reason I picked it up in the first place. But the game just wasn't worth my time, or my money.
-Currently looking forward to FFXIV
-Currently playing EvE and Global Agenda
You probably are having fun. And honestly I don't give a fuck. But the game is dieing; and it has been since beta, oh whoops, I meant release...
I hate to break it to you but if games like Dark and Light and Horizons are still hanging on, Vanguard is going to be around for a while. Is it dying? I guess that really depends on how you define dying. In reality, the moment a game releases it begins to die. Much like how the moment a person is born, they begin to die.You probably are having fun. And honestly I don't give a fuck. But the game is dieing; and it has been since beta, oh whoops, I meant release...

Dark and Light and Horizons have more subs now then vanguard did at "release."
Remember how many people threw their pre-orders away? I mean damn, it has to be a record.
Of course something dies after it's born, it happens. Although I've never seen a game with this much hype at one time die out so fast. People were going insane about this game - before they let people in, that is.
What bothers the 'pissy hate folk' is that they don't want other people to be mislead by people who are enjoying it. It seems ive been tarr'd as a pissy hate folk now.
If you enjoy playing Beta, thats great. What the majority of pissy hate folk want is people not to waste their time on a beta game, they don't want people to be mislead.
So lets agree the game is beta and nobody is happy you're trying to mis lead people into believing its not. Thats why you were deemed an employee.
Like I said, I'm not playing or paying for the game. So this isn't wasting my time. I'll decide whether or not posting on a forum is a waste of my time, thanks for the tip though.
Guys I'm in deep trouble, I've wasted 5 minutes of my life posting on some forums.
This nostaphos is laughing at me, but he doesn't know. He's really wasting HOURS of his life playing vanguard like it's something cool.
SHHH!!! Don't tell him! Let him suffer, and then join us once he quits... AGAIN.
Now if Vanguard offered a free trial for say 7 days, people could make up their own mind about the game. At the moment im not sure what to think of it, so I will follow the veiws of the majority which is to stay away. The veiws of the people on MMORPG.com are the best thing I have at the moment to help me decide. If Vangaurd really wants/needs players then they should offer a trial and let people make up their own minds.
I dont want to pay £25 ($50) to a company only to find out the game is laggy/unplayaable/unoptimised/doesnt run well and have to log off and come on MMORPG.com to join the "Vangaurd is a waste of money" patrol. Before anyone compares this to a non-mmorpg game with the "you dont get free trials for those etc" well first of all there are Demo's for many games, and second 99% of the time when you buy one of those games and dislike it, its because it was the wrong type/genre for you in the case of Vangaurd its issue over actually being able to play at all.
Glad you are retrying and enjoying. There have been many improvements since launch and although I've enjoyed it straight through, it seems like a lot of people have been returning in the past couple weeks. Evidenced by Shirdeth hitting medium pop again (haven't seen that since the first two weeks after lauch).
I only read your post, I would assume you were attacked by a troll first thing. Sorry about that I also came to this board first to get intel on Vanguard and experienced the same you did, it was very misleading and I almost didn't buy the game because of it.
Anyways, one of my friends has been playing since release and I occassionally watch him game a bit and the last time I saw it, it was noticably "better" looking and ran smoother on his system. Hopefully it keeps improving, it does seem that if they had had more time before launching the game it would have a different reputation than it does now but who knows...each to their own really. I may give it a try again someday when I have more gaming time available.
For the record.
I played Last Sunday, have a lvl 42 necro, a lvl 18 dread knight and I cancelled my subscription today.
EQ1, EQ2, SWG, SWTOR, GW, GW2 CoH, CoV, FFXI, WoW, CO, War,TSW and a slew of free trials and beta tests
lol!
If you played at launch and something annoyed you, only to resubscribe and your issues were resolved, that's great. Still, you should be sensible enough to know very well that there's been no overarching fixes for every systemic performance issue with the game, and that old and new bugs don't still exist (i.e. economy crashing gold duping galore nowadays.)
It's ok to chime in your two cents, but you don't have to use hypocrisy in order to do so. It's wrong to impose one's own issues on another, and one's own likes on another; as if the other person HAS to share the perspective or they're stupid. Without imposing anything on anyone though, the fact of the matter is, most folks in the MMO market are NOT playing Vanguard for a reason, and only a smidgen of the market is. So I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss the "pissy hate folk", who's complaining and rationale are going to guide Vanguard towards a better future moreso than those complacent with the sad state the premature released, pre-release of a soon to be re-launched game is in.
Battlegroups kinda of ruined it though, because I really did enjoy the fresh twink free bgs only a new server could bring.
