All I have to say is atleast I will have something to play now what with all the worthless MMO's out there and lack of population on them I felt like I was playing a stand alone game anyway.....and this one won't require a monthly subscription to play alone!

    Neagtive BS?

Perhaps you should take time to educate yourself, as you seem to be fairly ignorant. In case you missed the memo, this is an mmorpg fansite - not an rts fansite. The only BS is coming from you and your rts fanboi buddies, who cant grasp the concept that on an mmorpg fansite most players are going to be mmorpg fans. 2+2=4?

Players here were obviously hoping for an mmorpg, NOT an rts. Seems theres no pleasing anyone these days? you must be joking, do you always make it a habit to spew comments that have no bearing on the situation at hand and accomplish nothing but stirring up trouble? or is it just something you do for kicks on fansites related to a gaming genre, that by your own admission, you think has nothing but worthless options to offer you (the most ignorant statement I've ever read on these forums by far).

Your an idiot, plain and simple. You cannot grasp the simplest of concepts, coming here with your self-righteous "seems like theres no pleasing anyone these days" attitude will get you nothing but flamed.

Kill yourself IRL and never return to mmorpg.com again, please and thanks.

IMO the original starcraft/BW had better graphics than the cartoonish crap from WCIII but since they seem to want to ONLY use cartoony graphics seriously doubt i will be buying starcraft2
I think they use those cartoony graphics so almost everyone can play. Including people like myself who can't waste money and have an old Comp. I mean look what it did for WoW's cash flow. Btw that game must be done cause come on 2003!?!?!

i see what you mean but i think they went a little too far with the cartoon style that theyre using i would have been happy if they had the same graphics as the original starcraft games (especially since my computer is also pretty old) but the game just doesnt look fun to me when everything looks like a cartoon... =/

    Graphics looks ridiculous.

It looks Awsome!  So it's not an MMO. CNC3 and Dawn of War were not either, and both have done very well.

Blizzard always seems to raise the bar in their games, and make them easy enough for everyone to play.

I wonder if Blizzard realize that the money koreans will be spending to buy this game, is money they've made from selling gold in WoW.

...Blizzard is farming the Koreans now?

well its a mmo community site man what do you expect...talk about your rts game on an rts site....do you know where you are? geez....this game is not a mmo, wow blizzard probably missed out on millions deciding to make an rts instead of a mmo, i guess you cant call them money hungry any more.

MMO's are great but so are RTS games on occasion. Starcraft is one of the best and I'm fairly sure SC2 won't dissapoint.

Really though this thread belongs in the off-topic forum.

This game looks like  a joke to me, although I enjoyed SC1 immensely and still play it to this day.  But come on.....this "new" game is just a joke, its pathetic.  I can't believe all the people who think this new SC2 is cool.

    Ciao
/agree completely.  For a company with so much money, talent, prestige, and resources, and in a genre that is basically limitless, and with a new operating system out that could support so much better...these screenshots are very disappointing.  I certainly hope Blizzard hasn't stopped innovating in favor dressing up their old titles in new clothes.

There is little doubt tho that this is a precursor to a Starcraft MMO....WoW is already starting to show its age.  2008/2009 is going to mark the next big jump in the MMO industry (personally I'm thinking late 2009  we'll see what's going to evolve into the "next big thing") and  I cannot imagine Blizzard not having a chip in that game.   Maybe thats where all the money and resources are being directed.

I can make you eat these words if you want Darkened, with gravy?

Alright. First off, ignorance is often a term used for a person who obviously can not be bothered to see what is in plain sight. put it like this, i think you completly ignored the rest of what topain said and just looked at the negative bs part. now how can you be so ignorant?

btw, this person like you has as much right to come here as every other person, being here is a priviledge, did you ignore that as well?

and what about the rules and regulations stating that any sort of abuse to another member if reported could end up with you getting the boot for ignoring the rules??

it would be a good idea to give up and apoligies.

Someone said it best when they said "RTS's were so 90's"

sure they games were fun, when you were 12. the same repetative content over and over with new units that sounds fun... right?

im not impressed at all with this announcement, i think BW added more units than sc2 is going to.
  • zakionzakion Member Posts: 50
im not to bothered that its sc2 i luved sc and for all us mmo junkies i predict that an mmo is just around the corner, i bet there just refreshing the IP for preperation of the mmo launch, just like they did with warcraft 3. besides WoW is far to successfull just now for blizzard to be thinking of releasing another mmo, they have 3 IP's and will want to spread them out as long as possible, no point overlapping them 2 soon.

So many ppl not liking the SC2 announcement becuase of no new race or gfx style etc... but the term "if it aint broke" comes to mind...

SC1/BW were fantasic games which left millions wanting more, and SC2 is just continuing from where SC:BW left off, we get a shinny new 3D engine that looks great (with some optional DX10 effects btw) and in true blizzard tradition allows almost every 1 to play rather then that top 10% with the latest gfx card.  In come some new units and changes to exisiting units and another immersive story to get involved in... hell id buy it even if there were no new units... no honestly  would.

So many compained about WoW gfx but WoW had to look like Warcraft just as SC2 has to look like SC1, change the visuals too much and many ppl will feel detacted from the game world... I know I would if WoW had launch with EQ2 gfx.

We also have very little info on the game thus far, just the odd mension of some new units but that about it, best not judge just yet.

And yes I will be buying SC2 and be queing up in london on launch day. I'll get my mum to make me a thermos and peanut butter sandwiches.

I'd rather have only 3 races that are deep, play completely different and are well balanced then have more races that all play the same or are too unbalanced.

i agree totally, and besides i just figured that the chances are the expansion will have the new race.  i felt that was a given. need to have a good reason to buy it and i cant think of a better reason than a new race. no point giving everyone what they want on release. give them a fantasitc up to date game now and a new race later but hey, just my opinion

The 3 races in SC are good and deep i agree but they don't come close to the depth of the races in the WH40k games. well first off thats quite funny considering SC is argueably based around 40k and secondly of course there not as deep wh40k has had like 30 years to accomplish there depth where SC not even 10.

Not this old chestnut, age means nothings... are their zerglings in WH? are there Protoss in WH? the only thing both games share are marines... get over it... and go troll else where....please

DoW is a good game I have the original and expansion....but do you realy have to try and start a flame war?

I was addiciated to COH, its the best strategic RTS ive played, BTW SC2 uses havox physics.

You just made his point for him. It's loosely based on WAR40K yet the lore is not even nearly as developed as WAR40k let alone enough to make a MMO off it.

Games I've played/tried out:WAR, LOTRO, Tabula Rasa, AoC, EQ1, EQ2, WoW, Vangaurd, FFXI, D&DO, Lineage 2, Saga Of Ryzom, EvE Online, DAoC, Guild Wars,Star Wars Galaxies, Hell Gate London, Auto Assault, Grando Espada ( AKA SoTNW ), Archlord, CoV/H, Star Trek Online, APB, Champions Online, FFXIV, Rift Online, GW2.

    Game(s) I Am Currently Playing:

    GW2 (+LoL and BF3)
