Just a quick update. Turbine got an email explaining myself to them and decided to reinstate my account. Thanks to all who suggested I speak with them cause it did work and a big thanks to all who defended me on here! I wasn't aware what a hot topic this was before but much like our own Legal system I think these things should be looked at on a case by case basis which is what Turbine opted to do. KUDOS TURBINE AND THANKS TO MY SUPPORTERS!
Glad you got your account back.
I'm curious though, did they remove the gold you bought from your account? Turbine's punishment for first offense gold buying seems pretty harsh. IMO they should lock the account for a certain period of time while they can investigate the matter, then if they determine you bought gold it should be deleted from your character. That way your punishment is only lost gameplay time and any money you spent on the gold. Subsequent offenses should result in perma-ban.
And this has what to do with me ? Hmmm nothing ....day 3 ,never seen it
I know how your trying hard but flip flopping ain't gonna work on me cupcake
I don't know why I bother presenting an argument that you cannot comprehend, but here goes.
The date of that post is May 31st. Thats more than 3 days ago. My original argument was that there was lots of gold seller spam before you joined the game. Why is that something that so hard for you to comprehend? If you missed it, feel free to read the post again, and take note of the portion where they say several thousand gold seller accounts were banned.
Its obvious to anyone (other than yourself) that gold sellers were prevalent in the game prior to your joining.
As far as me being part of the MMORPG community, but only being registered recently on this forum, you make the semantical mistake of assuming I meant MMORPG.COM, as opposed to individual MMORPG communities, such as official message boards, or other general gaming forums.
Continue on with whatever argument you were having though.
You seem to have a problem telling the difference between your beliefs and reality. The two my friend I hate to break it to you are not the same. Thats merely your perception. Heh. Lets see if i have this straight you believe that i am not presenting a intelligent defense. (this is because you say so, and you are?) but your perception/belief/opinion is somehow supposed to be my reality? (please reread your statement above as many times as needed) Have trouble with the godhood complex much? No, you don't have it straight, but thats to be expected. There are many parts of your post I could argue, like all gold farmers/sellers are in china and unable to post anything in english (wow how does all the gold seller spam ever get posted ) or that the best way for a gold seller to change the rules that keeps getting them banned is to simply silently keep making new accounts to be banned again. but to what point you've already stated you don't need facts you have your reality (ie opinion) I'm sure you could "argue" any part of my post you wanted, but with your questionable debate skills, and obvious lack of reading comprehension, what would be the point? Sooo I have a great idea since you can change reality with your perception and being the self proclaimed pro-gamer out to protect us from all the evil companies (or is it just Turbine you want to proctect us from?) Then please change your perception of yourself so that you are a billionair then you can make your own game company and make us great fault free games with never a error ! I can? Thats some fine deduction. Look... I realize you are young and while insulting people and making things up might work in your circle, it won't work on me. Please refrain from continually degrading this post into more and more of a personal attack against me and just stick to the subject. While your at it you can sue the pants off evil companies like Turbine, and Sigil (oops too late its dead maybe Brad though for false advertising) and then SOE (there was that whole SWG NGE thing) and then Funcom (hey AO was broken and very much unplayable for the first 6 months it was out, and CCP (for the t20 dev/BoB cheating) and then of course sue Blizzard because they have for a fact banned tons more players then Turbine and are sueing a gold selling company so they beat Turbine out cold for heavy handed bannings etc. I would if I could. Personally, I think we might see some legal action against Turbine if enough people buy the "lifetime" subscriptions and then feel they need a refund. SOE did a fine job of screwing themselves over without my help. Sigil self destructed like anyone with a modicum of common sense realized they would. Only the most blindly faithful fans bought into that mess. Funcom took it on the chin with AO. Sure, it released in a horrible state, but they paid the price, and have since saved a bit of face by working hard to turn their product around. As for CCP, I honestly feel that the dev's "cheating" fits right into the game, with its tangled web of player politics. If Blizzard banned someone unfairly who just purchased the game and a 6 month game card, and didn't provide a refund, yes, I would say they deserved some type of legal action.
Seriously to everyone else, game companies do have faults and they do make mistakes but the "I hate this or that company and they need to pay!" rants some posters seem to almost revolve their life around IMHO is sometimes too much and needs to be taken down a notch or two. Companies do change sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse. The people in charge of AC/Turbine 6 years ago are not (for the most part) the same ones in charge today. This is the same for SOE, or Funcom, CCP or many other evil companies. Neat. Jeff Anderson is still the president of Turbine, and was a co-founder of the company. He used to be a lawyer specializing in Intellectual Property. Makes ya go hmmm.... Should we expect more, and ask for more from the companies we pay to game with? Sure. Should we carry vendetta's and try and bury the companies for past mistakes. well everyone has their own perception on that The problem here, is that Turbine just keeps making these same "mistakes". Be your own judge, all I'm doing is providing information. Peace out Use more emoticons next time, and stop going off on these tangents.
Your timeline is a bit off. The mass bannings of several thousand gold seller accounts was around the 3rd week of May IIRC. Just because you personally only got 1, doesn't mean that it was an isolated incident.
I am new to the gaming scene but a huge fan of the LOTR books and lore and I decided to get my feet wet with the MMO craze and bought LOTRO. I also purchased 60 prepaid days for the game and fell in love with the entire genre. Because of my "newness" I was blissfully unaware of the "Gold Farmer" problem that is prevelant in MMO's and I stupidly purchased a small amount of Gold online (5 gold) and didn't think anything of it. Well, two days later and I am now banned forever from LOTRO. I understand now about Gold Farming and Buying from reading forums like this, and I am confused as to how it is good buisness to ban a player for buying gold one time without a warning. I understand banning Gold Farmers, but I think a caught buyer should get a warning and have his gold confiscated. I was honestly ignorant when I bought gold from a farmer and now I am banned forever?! Am I weird for thinking that this is unfair? I am a US Army soldier and father of 4 and frankly the nearly 100 bucks I shelled out for my game and gametime is a lot of money in my budget and I don't get to spend that kind of cash on myself often, I guess I just want to hear from fellow gamers so I can figure out if I'm crazy or if my argument makes some kind of sense... Thanks All!
Sorry but Turbine made the right thing for once.
Open another account and nove on.
If you spent money to buy Gold, surely you can afford another game box.

First of all, let me say that you learned a valuable lesson.
Second, as a father of four and in the military you should know to read before you sign anything. Unfortunately, the EULA and TOS you agreed to when you logged into the game is pretty specific against buying/selling of gold, items, power-leveling, etc. Saying that, you are new to the industry so you say. Yet, your account was registered October of 2006. During all that time you never noticed anyone talking about banning gold buyers and sellers on these forums?
As far as Turbine goes, they've only known you briefly. They only have your word that you've been in the MMOG scene with them. They have no idea if that is true or not. What Turbine does know is that you signed a EULA/TOS with them and you broke. Now, when you call Turbine's CS and asks for your account back offer to give up the gold and/or items that you got with the gold and to give you a second chance. It most likely won't work, but it is worth a shot. Just be honest and respectful toward the CS department.
Stop the payment on your charge card for the said gold. Let your credit card company know the company sold you an illegal good that cost you an account. Your credit card company will put the gold seller on a ban list and now process transactions for the company. At least that way you can get the money back for your gold.
I salute you for your service to our country and I understand your position. Let me make a suggestion.
Now, if you want to play a great game that allows for the buying and selling of gold, I highly recommend EQ2 (EverQuest 2) on one of their EXCHANGE servers. It is one of the best games on the market today and Sony is trying to appease those of us with busy lives that have more money than time by providing exchange servers. On the exchange servers, players can buy/sell not only money but any any game items and even entire characters/accounts.
Good luck with your situation with Turbine.
Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:
"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."
It is up to the OP himself to contact Turbine's customer service, talk to and present his story to them. It litterally is soley between him and Turbine. There is absolutly no way any of us ever will know all the details in this case. All game companies make it an issue to not talk about interactions between them and each player. Sure, but it still makes for interesting discussion fodder .
There you have it! You said "sure" which means you agree.
This thread should now be allowed to sink to page 4,588 now.
Your timeline is a bit off. The mass bannings of several thousand gold seller accounts was around the 3rd week of May IIRC. Just because you personally only got 1, doesn't mean that it was an isolated incident.
Just for sake of argument,What was your purpose in this thread? you seem to attack a lot of people and then change everything around ( trying to save face ). You came to me ,not I you. It's funny how you read this and that and believe that but nooooo the player's here and their experience don't count. Hang 10 for a bit, let's look at some post history.

Why do you make me repeat myself?
In your post, you made the comment that the OP had no trouble finding the gold seller website. My point is that its possible he was "informed" of the gold seller websites via in game spam.
So my purpose? Just presenting alternatives to "ha ha, you were bad and you got busted". I'm not saying the OP is being completely forthcoming with his side of the story, merely saying that if you give him the benefit of the doubt, its quite possible that a new player could be misled into thinking that it was OK to buy gold, seeing as how he received a message in the game about it.
I don't know why you had to bring it down to the level of personal attacks.
Reklaw - You can think whatever the hell you want and defend it all you want, but the fact of the matter is he broke the rules. Plain and simple. If he doesn't want to read the agreement. Fine, but don't start bitching when Turbine enforces it. If you find it ok to give people a slap on the wrist for breaking the rules then that's your problem, but that isn't how it works in the real world.
As a matter of fact. My first DVD. I read the agreement. HOLY CRAP!! I READ! Real hard to do ain't it? Reason I only read it every so often is they are all the same. A general copyright agreement. As for games I read it everytime I get a new game. It's a company by company policy, but with MMOs you get the general basis of what is/isn't acceptable by reading it -ONE- time.
As I said ignorance is NO EXCUSE. Why would you NOT read something you have to agree to? That's just flat out stupid.
"OH SORRY! I didn't know I broke the rules!"
"Um you agree to them when you installed/play. It's also posted on our site. It's also in the box with the game."
"But I still didn't know..."
"Oh ok, here's a cookie. Cya"
Nice way of thinking there buddy. That'll get you far in life ROFL. Not everyone so forgiving. He got LUCKY by getting re-activated. Hopefully he uses this second chance with better caution and HOPEFULLY he took the few minutes to read the agreement.

Exactly. This guy is even attacking ppl for saying they haven't seen RMT spam in 2 days...
With that "perception is reality" sig, I guess he really means "I'm the allmighty god and I'm never wrong"...

My timeline may be off but if they were trying to prove that people were gold sellers it would take some time. Therefore the gold sellers probably got into the game during the world tour and continued to pay and play. Hence, after finding ample proof that they were in fact gold sellers the mass bannings happened in May.
In America I have bad teeth. If I lived in England my teeth would be perfect.

Is it fun to post on a second account just to agree with yourself?
I mean the few spamtells I got told me "Hey you buy gold cheap for $3,21/gold"... or something alike. I mean HEY; One month of this game costs like 10 bucks ... And I can farm one gold in what, 3 hours, by killing trophy-mobs and collecting colorweed.
So for, like 10 gold, which resembles like 3 evenings of grinding and farming, which can be still fun if done with friends, I'd pay $30? Like, hey, who the hell spends the triple subscription fee for something you can farm within three days?
AND, what can you buy with money? Nothing really, equipment comes from fighting enemies.
Now if one gold was 50 cents ok... I'd understand that some retard thinks he would pwn with a lot of gold. But this is so expensive, nobody with even a remote sense of economy would buy it. Even if I owned a business and got 10000 bucks per month free to spend I'd not spend it, it's just too expensive. Period.
