Wouldn’t it need to fail first before being called a failure?

Now, failing for YOU and your OPINION, is a totally different matter, but just becouse you dont like it, and dont play, does not mean other fell the same way.

IMHO, I don't think the game is a failure. It just isn't doing so well. From my experience the end game is well very empty. I'm level45 and I can play basically all day mon-wed. Getting a group is VERY time consuming (2-3 hours of shouting), which shows the games population clearly.

I play casually so please don't say "ZOMG you rushed it!," because well I didn't.

Solo quests basically no longer exist after level45. You have a few choices. Grind what 1-2 solo quests you find. Grind on mobs. or Grind out pvp quests. That's the only way to get level50. As far as those group quests. Good luck. You'll get maybe 1 done a day, if that.

I maybe reconsidering my next months payment. I havn't desided yet, but the game just doesn't have a large enough community yet for the number of servers provided.

IMHO, they should combine the servers down to half of what they are now. That way we can at least have some people to play with. As is even PVMP is pretty empty. You'll run into MAYBE 1 wad of creeps and a raid of freeps. It's just another mob grind for the quests beyond that.

I may cancel and come back in a month or 2 to see how it's doing. I havn't desided yet. *shrug*

Best way to play this game is if you have some friends which you can bring with you to the game to play with that way you can always have someone to play with.  I agree they should consolidate some of the servers to merge the population. I'd prefer crowded servers than having nobody to play with. Also one huge disparity is some of the higher level instance quest are so tough they can only be done if your character is much higher than the designated quest level.. esp at the max level some quest are designated level 40-45 but really requires level 50 players to have a chance to successfully complete it... they need to fix that.

Joined with 5 friends. Me, fiance, her mom, her dad, family frend. How many left? 2. Me and her dad. The others still play, but maybe once every 2-3 days. Even then it ain't for long. 2 other family friends joined, but went right back to WoW.

As far as the quests being mislabeled. Yes that has been pissing me off greatly lately. Thief Taker's Bane anyone? LMFAO. Have fun. BS the mobs are elite yet the rangers are only signature. WTF? LOL

The only way to get ahead is to join a major active guild on your server.. Usually only 1 per server.. MAYBE 2. They are also not so ez to get into.

Crowded servers wouldn't be a big deal with this game cuz the respawn rates of shit is just fking rediculous. Plus most dungeons are privately instanced and if they arn't they respawn within seconds.

I'd rather them sell half their server hardware and upgrade the other half to support more players and just merge them together. Will atleast give people more of a chance to get groups and make the world feel less empty.

IMHO, It feels as empty as VG did wondering the huge lands. Which is NOT a good thing.

I can see you have same problems in USA ...

French servers are  empty. you'll find more players in DAOC / frontiers than in MP/lotro for sure. That's exactly why i said MP is a "dead zone" on another thread.

Still have my SWG account and noticed world is more living (i mean in Chimaera for example)

I dont have any problems...but it may be my level..I am only 26.  Havnt had to wait more than 15 minutes or so to form a full group on Meneldor.  Maybe it thins out more later though...the good news for those in the higher levels is that....there appears to be a very large batch of players coming your way.

Just enjoying the game basically...this is the first MMO I have ever played where I have no strong drive to level up.  I have done many grayed out quests, I do Deeds for Traits that I doubt I will ever use, things like that.

I also dont have much time to play on top of it.  I play almost nightly, but usually only an hour or so..two max.  Thats what I like about the game so much though, I can go on for 45 mins and actually feel like I accomplished something, even if its just a random Deed.

I am also waiting for two friends to catch up to me as well, so, many reasons to just relax and play at my own pace.   I credit doing all of the Shire quests as a Dwarf for a lot of it...those took up a LOT of time that many people would say is unnecessary unless you were just doing it for fun like I was.

Ya i've been going through and finishing the 100 gray fellowship quests I have LOL. Might as well. I'll get like half a level which is pretty hard to accomplish at my level without exp bonus. I only craft for 1hr on thur-sun (work week) then let my chara build up exp bonus for mon-wed. This way I got AT LEAST 1-2 levels worth of bonus. Allows me to get 1.5 levels during my 3 day play period. Lately it has slowed to a crawl though. Lack of groups and solo quests mainly to blame. So now I've parked my toon at the lvl47 orc camp in agnmar and grind grind grind.

Well LOTRO isn't that bad, it gives me something to do while waiting for Sesame Street and Dora the Explorer to come on.

I thought WoW was the kiddie game?  I cant even keep up with the bashers around here anymore.  So LoTRo is where the children play now?  huh...interesting, seems quite the opposite to me.

I think its abit early to call LOTRO a failure. I dont understand what the fasination of calling games dead or failures anyways. Seems like everyone wants the game that they dont like to die off or something.

  • KeoghKeogh Member Posts: 1,099

    Reality Check:

69.1 % of those that bothered to take this poll, don't think LOTRO is a failure. That is a significant majority.

I do admit that it gets old fast, but what game doesn't this early after the launch? The only gripe I have about the game is that it's deffinatly not soloable by any means. The grouping could be the thing that does LotRO in.

  • Bryzon82Bryzon82 Member Posts: 22

And if its a third failure I guess you're saying DDO is a failure too? I have to disagree, DDO is doing well and is very fun.

324 Votes is not majority vote. That's just people who come here. 80% of the rants you see in-game. On official forums. Or hear it from a friend/teammate.

Well, this thread is based on a poll, and the poll is saying that the majority of the people think its not a failure. I think the fact that the game is getting top reviews in all the magazines that I've read says its not a failure.

No not a failure, different from  (ack) WoW yes better even in alot of areas and a brilliant game

  • LumberghLumbergh Member Posts: 123

ya that is the second time, your making me feel like you are trying to bait  me into an altercation. Obviously I dont have a long fuse, so why are you trying to start something with me. You helped me once a couple of weeks ago on here on a thread, and that was cool, but now you just sound like a turbine fanboi who blindly blames the customer without even knowing wtf you are talking about.

just because I have problems in the game doesnt mean you need to start jumping to conclusions. My punishment was harsh when compared to the crime. I said one time in the ooc channel 'whoever reported my name sucks' then this person tells me to shut up and grow some testicles, and just assumes that because my name got changed it must have been something obnoxious and it wasn't. So i said something back, and boom I am banned.

TRYING TO PROVOKE SOMEONE INTO AN ARGUMENT IS JUST AS IMMATURE AnD OBNOXIOUS , as resorting to cuss words and name calling. So.. How bout you just leave me alone and not quote me. I am entitled to throw my 2cp in when addressing the OP of the thread. I don't think that you trying to start something with me is considered a post that is contributing anything positive.
