only an idiot would go to world of warcraft 2 presented by Mythic. Mythic has a far greater ability to screw up games than blizzard could ever hope to have.
Curious. What are you basing "Mythics far greater ability to screw up games" on?

Personally if they are putting it off .... I trust it isnt ready for release. Monthly and or weekly patches to fix bugs and or exploits isnt a fallback to release the game early. Those things will be the quick death of a potentially great game.
....so, If it isnt ready before warhammer...Id probably give Warhammer a go. If it is ready before Warhammer, Ill go ahead and grab it first .

Wait, Doesnt DAOC have the best RVR out there atm? I personally havent played DAOC but Im pretty sure its made by Mythic, and you can flame all you want if im wrong I dont care. ^_-

DAOC RvR is very intense i it played it for years. I don't see , mythic screwing it up at all.
I don't get why the release date matter? Sound like your thinking is: So if it is late, it must be bad. WAR will be on time (it's been pushed back before) and therefore it will be a great game?
Is this just a pro-WAR troll?

Spot on, there are half a dozen other games out there all coming out the same time.
We have all been waiting a long time for this game and watching it eagerly, but i dont think that if it does go into 2008 true fans will jump to WAR. We've waited this long , a little longer is not going to hurt us. I know the release date has been put back a couple of times but i'd rather them get it right and be late than put out a game that's not polished, as then all the waiting will have been for nothing. Then you will get people moaning saying they put the game out when it wasn't ready.
i'll be waiting for this game even if it gets pushed to 2008 the reason being simple..it'll be worth it. Funcom wont just move it to 2008 for no reason, obviously there must be some problem with the game that they need to address and if thats going to make the game better in the long run then im up for it. i wont be playing WAR, it might be an awesome game but im frankly fed up with the current system in mmorpg where u press 1,2,3,4,5 etc for skills. AoC's twitch control system is whats got me hooked to this game along with an awesome guild community. I think its the perfect recipe for the perfect game and if it takes another year for Funcom to perfect it then im going to be waiting......
I completely feel the same way and Yes I am an AoC Fanboi,
But when you want something Sooo bad, everyone has their breaking point, I believe.
My opinion is Funcom at this point is taking WAY WAY WAY to long to release,
I think it is strange that this site is covered by opinions like this. There is a generation obsessed with instant gratification being raised, they have no patience. I have about 12 games on my list to hold me over until Age of Conan, Warhammer Online, or Heroes Journey comes out. Seriously, who buys a products based on release date? I buy products based on quality...
Actually, I think it is up to me to say when I feel I have waited long enough and do not wish to continue to wait, at least it was last time I checked.
Are you saying you track the development and release time of every game and based on that decide whether to buy it? What is your limit for development time? How long before a game's announcement and its release before you cross it off your list? It is a very strange way to shop, please tell us more...
No, I am not saying I track the developement time of every game and base my decision whether not to play or not on that. I have no limit on development time and I think for myself 2 and a half years of hitting their website multiple times a day is starting to seriously test my limits, Yes. And for the sarcasm, sarcasm is only a good thing when it is funny, and funny yours wasn't.................
Im pretty confident that AoC will release as stated this year. Q1 '08 for War could mean anything... April '08? I mean they have shown hardly anything on the classes so far, so who knows when it will release, anyway. As for playing it - its not my type of game sorry, I only have the time to play one game at a time and Im happy to wait for AoC however long it might take just so long as it is finished. I am not a jump on the "lets play this game now" bandwagon type of person.
I am Not a "lets play this game now" bandwagon person either AA.
But I am also not a "lets follow this game for 7 years and then call it Vaporware" bandwagon person either.
I'm not the AoC fan that just can't wait for it to be released, like the others you are probably referring to. I've kept tabs on the game somewhat since its been announced on mmorpg.com, and I plan to try it when it is released. WAR on the other hand is not interesting in the least bit for me. When I read about WAR and look at the screenshots and etc., I just don't feel drawn to it. Part of it is the graphics, part of it is the community it has drawn, and the rest is because the world seems gritty and unattractive. I have no desire to explore that world or be any of the classes mentioned really. I am a fan of Mythic though, so I might give it a try. I am a long time player of DAoC and I know Mythic can make a good game. So I might try it out after the masses have spoken (reviews). In the meantime, I plan on giving Vanguard a real shot once my new hardware gets here. I'm hoping that Vanguard will suck me in until AoC comes out.
MMORPG's w/ Max level characters: DAoC, SWG, & WoW
Currently Playing: WAR Preferred Playstyle: Roleplay/adventurous, in a sandbox game.
Unless its for financial reasons... why would you not just try it whenever it comes out?
I totally would except for like someone else stated I also am not a multiple MMORPG games at once person either, which I guess refurbishes my OP point of I just dont know how much longer I can hang on.
October 30, 07 as stated, after I have swallowed 3 postponements already, sure, yes, ok. A fourth posepostment, I dunno, starting to kinda feel like a Sucker at that point for being soo damn Loyal to them and constantly being let down.
LOL You'll play it. Human psychology dictates that since this game has influenced you enough to take action and post on a pointless forum board about whether or not you're going to play, you will. Combine that with the lack of other new MMO games scheduled for release any time soon I would estimate a 95% probability that you will pay to play AoC at some point in the near future. Regardless of when it releases or even how good the game actually is, your human curiosity coupled with boredom and a lack of an exciting real life will nearly ensure this investment. I'm positiveFuncom's marketing executives are counting on it, and are probably counting thier money in advance as you read this. I'f I'm wrong, it's still a win for Funcom. They loose one impatient customer, but gain the good publicity, and respect of the gaming community by releasing a finished product.
Politics are for people who can't wield a battle axe. Fighting solves everything.

Really? I find that interesting. I've played a lot of games from a lot of different companies..and I think you'll find that many agree with me, Mythic has a very solid reputation. I highly doubt they will screw up WAR.
Also..WAR is definitely not WoW2. The only resemblance is the cartoony graphics, and those aren't really as alike as everyone seems to think.
the waiting doesnt bother me a bit. reason being is that it will be a complete and almost i repeat almost bug free (or should be at least). so i will wait until its released being content that it will be a complete game that will rock the socks off all the competition.
Honestly I am most excited about WAR and was going to try AOC because it was coming out before it. If it comes out near the same time I won't have much motivation to try it.

The sheer amount of ignorance and stupidity in this thread is just mind boggling.

the longer it takes the better it will be. tell me a game that turned out worse when it was postponed.

Yet,
So True, So True.
Your post made my day,
Thanks......Heh.
War isn't a good game. So I wouldn't play it even if Conan was delayed.
