I'm not surpriced.. this week 2 of my friends started playing 'cuz our other friends were playing it.. I will add they never played mmo, they even didn't know what exactly it is...
nice for blizzard! but does anyone really care? I doubt it. Does 9mil subs make your gaming experience any better? Doubt it. Does 9mil subs mean this is the best game for everyone? Dont think so. But ye nice for blizz
What a load of crap, they do not have 9 million subscribers lol
If they did their wouldnt be so many dead realms, they should just admit that half those subsribers arent active, or are the same person buying multiple accounts, aka gold farmers most likely.
4 million maybe even 5 million active subscribers world wide maybe, but like i said, if their was 9 million active subscribers to the game half the servers wouldnt be ghost towns.
Which Final Fantasy Character Are You? if I were to kill a titan tomorrow and no CCP employees showed up to say grats I would petition it. Waiting for: the next MMO that lets me make this macro if hp < 30 then CastSpell("heal") SpellTargetUnit("player") else CastSpell("smite") end
yeah all that money and all they could come up with for a expansion was a flying mount lol...brilliant!!!!
Heh heh. Yes, I think that's why so many former WoW players became disenfranchised after the release of TBC. All those resources and all that cash and they really didn't give players anything different than what they'd been feeding us for the last three years. Imagine what a more adventurous, creatively-minded design team could do with all of those cash resources? But hey, being daring and original has little to do with corporations raking in a buck, especially when you can keep with the status quo and reap in 9 million subs! Like it or not, us naysayers are in the minority and just have to wait for the next new thing. Kudos to Blizz as a business model. Maybe someday they'll get bored of sitting on their piles of cash and come out with an MMORPG that captures gamers' imaginations like WoW did upon it's initial release.
I find it funny a few post saying the game is full of bots or the realm is dead, i have to ask what realm exactly are you all playing on? Ive got characters on arthas, stormreaver, Buring blade, frostwolf and like 2 others and they are very quiet lively than any other server on any other game ive played.
Where exactly are you coming up with "all the realms are dead full of botters?" If possible link stats to show it if available.
WoW used to be a great game.... THEN they implemented Burning Crusade.... The Flying mount I think was the worst idea that Blizzard could have brought into gameplay. I played the game for almost two years, but now I find myself getting bored with it. I believe the reason for the boredom is that the flying mount has destroyed the game.
1) Zones are barren because everyone is flying around to high to see.
2) Random PvP encounters are non-existent. Now its a guy flying in the air searching for a person to gank. Rather than the old style of running on the ground and attacking each other on the road which was great.
3) World PvP events are just plain boring. If you can even catch them when people are creating conflict around them.
4) And with the addition of only one new BG and arenas which are completely unfulfilling.
If blizzard would have kept land mounts, never implementing flying mounts, the zones in BC would be a constant war zone. (MAYBE)
I think if blizzard would have made outlands larger. With more 10 man instances. Also made the old instances HEROIC. Like WC, BFD, etc. The game would still be appealing to me.
Blizzard also needs to fly around on one of the flying mounts. See how the load time for npcs/ally/horde takes. I fly around on my mount and have to stop to let everything load in. It sucks can't find anything. I usually revert to my land mount to search for things to kill.
I have a good computer too. SO when POTBS and WAR finally come out, it will be a life saver. For now I will play CS:S because I can't find any decent game I'm interested in.

Some good points, i'd of prefered flying mounts to be truly epic, i.e a rare boss drop cus on PvP servers the only world PvP is at meeting stones when raid groups are getting ready. Nowt magical about having a flying mount when every 1 has 1.
Heroics of the old instances are also needed to breath life back into azeroth.

Good computer? Sorry, 512mb of ram and a 1ghz comp is not a good comp. I have an average comp with 1gb of ram and everything loads fine, except lagrath where my fps drops to 15. Also.. flying mounts killed the game? What are you talking about? Flying mounts have got to be one of the greatest additions of the expansion. Key word here is "expansion". It's not going to be a HUGE game unless they only planned to make 2 expansions.
I'd say the only thing wrong with TBC is the fact that there's so many rep grinds which totally ruin it for me. They have, however, improved on the quality of gear that any player can get which is a good thing. Tell me.. did they really add nothing in TBC?
- Flying mounts
- Lvl 70
- Quests that give great rewards that put noobs pre-BC up to par with raiders in T1/2 when expansion released
- A ton of 5-mans, with heroics for lvl 70s
- Improved PvP items and system. It's now much easier to get pvp items. Although they're not as great as PvE items ( Obviously ), they're still easy enough to get for casuals
- Arenas. Nothing like an old style 2v2, 3v3, 5v5.. 5v5 is where skill shines. Casual friendly as well. Play 10 games a week to get points. If you suck it will take you forever to get an item, but that's life.
- Resilience to scale crits
- Karazhan, and a good amount of 25 mans, with a new 10man coming soon
- Heroic rewards for the non raiders, which by the way, aren't that bad.
- Made professions actually worthwhile..
- Other things I forgot about..
PvP sounds easy as hell to implement in theory, but it's not. There's many factors involved; balancing each and every class, items, etc.. Honestly, Blizzard has tried promoting world PvP. There's world pvp objectives practically in every zone in outlands, it's just nobody does it. Is that blizzards fault? Perhaps, but you can't say they didn't try.. Honestly, what else could you want? The world pvp in outlands gives your faction buffs, with rewards as well, which is practically what Warhammer will also have but implemented differently, yet Warhammer gets all the hype. I'll laugh when Warhammer becomes a big pvp disappointment because it's almost exactly what WoW has.
I'm no fan boy but when people bash WoW for stupid reasons, I have to post.
World of Warcraft subscribers include individuals who have paid a subscription fee or have an active prepaid card to play World of Warcraft, as well as those who have purchased the game and are within their free month of access. Internet Game Room players who have accessed the game over the last thirty days are also counted as subscribers. The above definition excludes all players under free promotional subscriptions, expired or cancelled subscriptions, and expired prepaid cards. Subscribers in licensees’ territories are defined along the same rules.
ALL of the 9 million are active subscribers.

Thing with wow is eventually its going to run out of things to add...i mean theres only so many instances people will do and items to get. Outlands was the last area in WoW lore as far as i know, so what will come next? The land they have to use is so small. All other mmos have open ended IPs (most of them) so they can constantly add more races, areas, classes etc. Wow will do well for some time because what it has at the moment is fun, all the new people to MMOs playing it will eventually want to move onto more "advanced" mmos and will discover wow doesnt offer very much. Its only a matter of time, unless of course they can add some seriously new features, and i dont mean more instances.
It will be a great game that will just fizzle out eventually....similar to how UO did (not comparing the two, everyone knows UO was better haha), it will still be there but just no one will think its so great anymore. That is inevitable.
Northrend the last continent there is exactly. And i thought it was just a barren icy arctic place where the undead had a fortress. So what they will add more levels and reputation to grind and a new big instance.....all been seen before. Too bad people will just keep playing the same old thing.
EDIt - maybe they will add skiing ability or mounts as the main selling feature...
i'm one of those 9 million. i've been playing for a little over 2yrs now and like everyone else i'm looking forward to war and aoc also but i still log on to wow daily and its still fun for me.

Wow's still kickin as far as I can tell, never have a problem running into someone at anytime of the day.
sweet jesus.. that's $135,000,000.00 a month.. a friggin' MONTH.

I wonder how many of those players are actually farmers/bots.
WoW is getting subscribers, but no players. Just a massive influx of clueless noobs who don't know better.
Bans a perma, but so are sigs in necro posts.

Starcraft 2.

No suprise. It's still the best mmorpg on the market, and really the only game I see that might be better is Warhammer... time will tell.
