Oh im sure the internet police is going to go after them oh man I can see it now...
What you talking about willis?
Are you serious? The interent police wont bust them .....the Feds probably will though. reporting false numbers and earnings is a big no no. Not to mnetion, any rival company of Blizzards would be all over that like white on rice If they even suspected such a thing( SOE would be salivating all over themselves at the impending doom) .
....so now your excuses are startign to make me laugh. Its been a great 2+ years of this stuff, keep it coming .
What a stupid topic.. Who cares how many suscribers it has? It's a lousy and boring MMORPG. Blizzard couldnt MMORPG themselves out of a paper bag
Thank you for backing up your post with facts. And, BTW, the corporate heads who fund whatever MMO you play care how many subscribers it has because, I don't know if you know, but this is a buisiness and they couldn't care less if they make a "good" game for you. They care about money; its a buisiness, not a charity. Why else in the world do you think there are so many wow clones? You don't go around seeing many AA clones or MxO clones now do you?
I dont play MMOs anymore. They are all garbage. People who play them are likely just there as a staging point between the next MMORPG that doesnt suck. People play WoW because they have nothing else to play, it isn't because it is fun. It's just the place to be for now, until a good MMORPG comes out.
When a company puts out an MMO that is genuinely fun, I will play it. Until then, there is no point. There are many other games that are more fun and not MMOs.
Actually it shows you have no clue what a company can do and cant any company can fix the numbers however they want no ones really looking anyway so you talking a mute point.....just go back your fairy tale land of wow and kill some trolls or maybe a sheep and someday you might learn that not eveyone tells the truth...
mute=moot
And companies cant fudge millions and millions of subscribers.....so lets hear a good one. How many active customers do you think they have?
that is the whole server list lol....thats all of them just click the eu side should come up wtih around 4.6million totalled...and out of those theres no telling how many are actually played at all or just sitting there because morons paid for the 6month tour in hell lmao...
Well for one that isn't worldwide, about half of the subscriber base in Asia, and second, its not official World of Warcraft information. The European community manager has stated that the information on that website is unreliable.
This makes me very curious about what smoke blizzard is blowing about subscribers. I can't for the life of me see them getting more subscribers in America. Everyone that I know have quit WoW and that includes a majority of a 40 man raid guild back in the day. There are many dead realms and some of those realms seriously need to be merged. Maybe they take the total number from the start of the month to the end without subtracting the cancelled accounts? Maybe they consider any account that was ever paid as part of it? Who knows.
Also anyone who is amazed by WoW's numbers needs to go look up some of the asian games numbers. Talking 20-70 million people playing those games.
yeah ok lol whatever lol.......i give the facts and then you cant admit too them lol...great comeback there ok im done just go on believin the lie who knows maybe you can fly after all....
You'd be surprised just how many people leave their account open who don't actually play the game any longer. I can think of five accounts which are currently open, but completely unactive. Not going to argue whether or not WoW really does have 9 million open accounts, it probably does, but that doesn't mean it has 9 million happy little WoW fans.
So they leave them open and don't play. That is an active account. You can't blame Blizzard for that only the fool you say don't like the game but keeps paying for it.
I'm not blaming Blizzard, I'm just stating a simple fact. Not every single one of those accounts is ACTIVE (as in a human being actually playing it). That's all.
Even if you are trying to say a human don't play it but a bot then I hate to break it to you even a bot needs a human to run.
That's not what I'm trying to say either... I give up.
that is the whole server list lol....thats all of them just click the eu side should come up wtih around 4.6million totalled...and out of those theres no telling how many are actually played at all or just sitting there because morons paid for the 6month tour in hell lmao...
How is the data collected?
The data is collected by a the Warcraft CensusPlus UI mod. The mod essentially crawls the /who data of people online when you take the census.
LOL so you think everyone uses that mod. Plus how many really upload the census? There is no way that would be an accurate way to get active subs or even actual numbers 24/7 unless you are on all servers 24/7 taking census every minute or so.
yeah ok lol whatever lol.......i give the facts and then you cant admit too them lol...great comeback there ok im done just go on believin the lie who knows maybe you can fly after all....
Its all a big conspiracy between us and Blizzard Arioch. Please forget this conversation ever took place, we don't want the media finding out about this.
I have to agree with Tenthring here on the PvP part (unable to say anything on teh expansion as i stopped playing just before it was released). I can belive the 9 million subscribers, after all there are 200+ EU servers, 100+ U.S servers and god knows how many Chinease servers there are.
When WoW first came out they made loads of promise's about how their game would be featured around PvP, they even stated that to get the most out of the game, they recommended playing on a PvP server. It wasnt long before the players on PvE servers were calling out because of boredom, this is when the BG's were created.
That killed WoW for me, BG's were a complete waste of time, but it wasnt that long before you could see that was how Blizard had decide to go, and a complete U-turn too boot. I stayed with the game for 2yrs, see'ing many people i had gotten to know leave, and new people come. Then not long before the expansion 9 friends left (i think the upcomming Vanguard was the thought) but that game was a rip-off, screwed out of money purchasing that poor excuse of a game. Someone mentioned that SoE were compensating players who had VG and offering them to come back to one of their other games with a free play-time offer (about 3mths) if you had purchased VG that is, however me, nor 2 other friends have had that offered (a post was made in another topic here about the offer) but we think it must be Bogus, SoE never do that sort of thing.
Right now, i am waiting for Warhammer Online (W.A.R), as it sounds great but i am not going to get my hopes up on it, not until it has been released and comes up with the goods. For now, i would say WoW is still leading all other mmo's left right and center.
The other 3 games i have been looking forwards too are/were Age of Conan (unsure now after see'ing a video clip, either the guy had a poor connection, or the engine seriously needs to be improved because it looked very laggy and jerky), Gods and Heroes rome rising looked and sounded interesting, unfortunatly it aquired the SoE tag and that has now gone down in my list (if the feedback on this comes back very strong i may go for it, but it must figure highly and i wont be purchasing it until it has been out for 2 months as well, thats the time proper reviews and word of mouth will take), the 3rd game is Pirates of the Burning Sea, another game that sounded great and another game that is differant, however alas it also has aquired teh SoE tag so this would have the same waiting time and reports of favour as Gods and Heroes does.
Other than that, Tabula rasa, is something i had never even looked at, read about or even considered, but i have been lucky enough to get into closed beta (early stage's). I am not going to say anything more than that on this game, i would love to, but the NDA forbids it.
I am considering returning to Warcraft however, and joining my characters again, on Dunemaul (Alliance) European server (forgot to say this as they have same server names on U.S side), lvl 60 hunter+rogue+priest, plus lower ended other characters. However i left Fidelis when i left the game, so would be guildless if i returned, and probably would need to find new players and friends (if the others i knew have left), 4 i do know jumped servers. But i need something to do until warhammer online comes out and there is nothing out there that comes close to WoW anyways.
*Note* i am sorry for using a word that may have offended some people, this was not my intention, and i had an account ban for several hours. I have changed that word now, and i appologize to any who may have taken it and been offended by that word. SORRY, and sorry to the forum moderator for having to edit my post.
ok? so? doesnt mean anything. once warhamer and conan come out it will start loosin subscribers. then when guildwars2 comes out it will loose even more since it has no monthly fee and basically the same thing only better. in the end what does this all mean? nothing. who cares? the one thing that WILL kill wow is TIME. it is inevitable. maybe soon maybe in 3 years who knows. get over it and enjoy it while you can.
What does it MEAN? It means that more and more people than ever before are coming into the MMORPG genre. You can bet that those new numbers are not from old MMORPG players and that means people that have NEVER played a MMORPG are trying them out now for the first time and playing them.
It means MMORPGs have finally evolved and entered the real gaming market along with FPS, RTS and every other type of computer game out there. It means that there was ALWAYS a market for MMORPGs but hardcore, tedious game mechanics from previous games stifled the genre for more than a decade.
And that means that with a bigger market we'll see competition (evenutally, right now WoW has the monopoly) and with competition will come more games. People are complaining about being bored with WoW but they don't realize that as long as Blizzard expands the market then that opens up the doors for other games to develop.
Blizzard is doing the MMORPG genre more good than anything in its entire history. That's what is means.

This isn't art or music or theater. WoW is a pop-culture video game and you don't measure a video game by its "quality" like its some piece of art. You measure a video game by it's popularity.
You could say Tetris was low-quality compared to the technology or graphics of the other games of its time. That doesn't mean Tetris wasn't one of the greatest video games ever created because it was one of the most POPULAR.
Many people are complaining about WoW because there is no competition for Blizzard. There are other companies developing games to tap into that 9 million subscriber market and maybe even expand it further. And once Blizzard starts to get competition for its cash cow, they'll have to improve game for the better.
Why don't you measure a video game by its quality? seriously your post is pretty stupid, if you wanna talk success then yes, you do measure by popularity. But if we are gonna measure by success you can say the most popular is the best in art, theater, music and movies, since they will have the most fans.
I however, believe people with a bigger intrest in something, for example many of the people on these forums have a big intrest in MMORPGS, will quickly get tired of easy, mind numbing games such as WoW. Which btw clearly shows on the top 10 on this very homepage.
One day Granado Espada will have more subscriptions then WoW!!!
sorry ut no
Thank you for paying attention to all 90 posts to catch mine. It is truly an amazing feat of patience and reading. Personally, I didn't even read 1/5th the posts on this topic.
If you were going my concurrent users, then Fantasy Journey Westward with absolutely no NA or EU version would be the best game in the world. Its concurrent users just keeps going up and up. Not to mention they are going to have a heavy graphics version soon.

I'm amazed anyone bothered to reply at all, and I'm not going to waste my time telling you how silly your statements are.
Very nice, and congratulations to Bliizard I guess. 6+million Chinese can't be wrong. When was the last time numbers were released for US and Europe? I seriously doubt that they're over the 3 million mark in the West.
In the end it really doesn't matter. All that should matter is the number of players on your server. I believe the max is 7k concurrent.
I would guess (I certainly don't know) that WoW's climbing numbers may reflect an Asian market. Why is this important to me? I don't play mmo's with Asian players, and NO, not because I'm racist, but rather because I simply don't speak any Asian languages.
WoW may be a worldwide success, but if the US and EU market is on the decline.....essentially, it changes the entire spin on their success.
My guess is that American/EU subscriptions have peaked and are beginning to fall. I think before we are amazed with WoW's unbridled success, first you better break it down and see how your personal demographic is doing.
Other than that, Tabula rasa, is something i had never even looked at, read about or even considered, but i have been lucky enough to get into closed beta (early stage's). I am not going to say anything more than that on this game, i would love to, but the NDA forbids it.
You should edit that area right out of your post, just mentioning you even got into the CB is a violation of your NDA, and certain internet "police" are very hardcore about such things, and can and will make sure your stay in the CB isn't a long one.
sweet jesus.. that's $135,000,000.00 a month.. a friggin' MONTH.
Since the chinese players pay like $0.50 a month to play..... I doubt it.
ah. good point.
why do the chinese pay 50 cents a month?
Because pricing is based on what the market will bear, China is still a developing nation, akin to what the U.S. was like at the turn of the century, their wealth and prosperity is growing overall, but the masses are still well below the poverty line. In 1900, 90% of Americans were farmers who certainly weren't wealthy, so marketers at the turn of the century priced the newest technology (electric lights, flush toilets, etc.) at a price that the average american could afford. Hence, now everyone has a toilet and electric lights. WoW is the just the toilet of Asia.....
