accualy i think im going to buy the expansion when it comes out, the rares sound realy good.

This games pvp gives you the best heart pumping adrenaline. that's why i want to come back.

While fighting you can accualy dodge certain kinds of war magic with your own keyboard.

you can dodge arrows with strafe.

it all takes skill (stats) a good template and menovering.

Also the best part! is that when you kill someone, you can take some of their loot, including some stuff they are wearing. unless you have "death items" <--high valued items drop first and if you have enuff that's all you'll drop but you can fetch a good price. but same can happen to you if you die ;)

got a 60 tauren warrior in wow.  the pvp was ok but not as intense becuase you get virtualy nothing out of it. game is not too fun after 60.  nothing beats Asherons call pvp from my experiance.

I have resub'd a lot of times, but I always end up having to sit there and bash mobs for hours on end to raise something 1 point now. I don't want to sit there and bash mobs for 6 hours to raise something one stinking point.

New games are getting rid of mob bashing as part of character development, and I think I'm going to go that route and drop my AC sub for good.

I agree, but I also disagree. I agree that the game isnt as fun as it was in its glory days (and by God it was too fun to be real). I recently replayed it, and wasnt into it as I use to be. I didnt like the lack of players, and it just wasnt challenging anymore. You can buy everything you need from traders in the marketplace.

I disagree though, because the game still has the same fighting, weapon style, and concepts. I always liked the idea of the tinker system and such. It just is a little dented from the lack of community and things to do.

But I love the grinding in the game, and it is the best in my book! image

I guess could have gone a different route if they wanted too but the system didn't work that way, you would be less effective then you could be. I didn't see any uniqueness, it was playing a game with 4 character classes to me. So as good of a game as AC USED to be before turbine took full control of it, I really can't agree with you on that one part of your post.

Well, first off, Turbine has always had full control of the development of AC.  the only thing MS did was provide the place to host the game.  Once Turbine got the money to do so, they bought all rights so that it can now be solely kept by Turbine.  As in they both develope and host the game now.

As for the templates and such, I played AC from March of 2000 until June of 2004.  And i recently went back to play from February until April of this year to check out what has changed.  There are a lot more than just 4 templates running around.  There isn't a major design that outweighs the other as far as PvE goes much anymore.  Of course there are some peoples favorites and such.  I for one have always enjoyed the UA/Life/melee specialized type.  But what is certain is that Item and Life magic are a mainstay for anyone wishing to solo.  But they  have small quests in place to untrain, specialize after character creation.  The only weapon style i've seen treated with little attention has been the spear.  And of course after the debacle with the bandit dagger stuff, the dagger is in a period of not-so-great.   But other than that anything is probable.

Everything has been revamped in both quests, quested loot and the loot gen.  There are still many bots around, but it is a thing to make the game less tedious.  With so much that has transpired over the past few years it has become so dependant on characters always being buffed to the max in order to function well at high levels.  Thus there is no limit on the lower levels using the same buffs.  And it makes low level stuff really easy.  But all of the high level content has become quite fun.  The concept of hollow tusker will make you squirm, which of course makes high level buffs other than regen buffs useless.  The high AL armor is a must have at that point.  It is the reason for such high AL.  and most armors that are questable ie. the Olthoi armor base al of 500+ and the new Noble armor AL 440+ are some of the best questable sets in the game.  Plus taking the enormous amounts of time to tinker your own personal set of nice armor is a must.  Plus the Burun quests are really nice and fun to do, the dungeons involved remind me of the old days in many ways.  Many puzzled levels that require multiple people involved to accomplish. these quests are for the level 75 to 126.   This game has so much content in it, it's unreal.

if you are ever curious about what is currently going on with AC, always check http://ac.warcry.com/

that is the most indepth site around for AC.  just by looking around at the quests section you will see some nice new stuff, all of the level 60+ quests are the main ones to look at.  Plus this isn't the most updated stuff though.  Keep in mind that some quests are still not listed that are in-game.  Not to mention the tons of quests that are not level restricted but do need to be high level to finish and use the reward.

Asheron's Call was the first MMO I ever played.  I was fortunate to make it into the beta and after that I was hooked.  At that time, it was the greatest gaming experience available.  Everything was new and no one knew anything.  I kept playing for several years, with breaks off and on.  Eventually, I took a year long break and came back to Dark Majesty.

Everything seemed to have changed for the worse, in my opinion.  There were bots everywhere.  No need to make mad dashes from town to town with 5 Hunter Shreths chasing you down.  You could just get tp'ed anywhere.  And if you needed to kill a tough monster, no need to gather some friends, just get buffed to the max and go waste em.

Everything has an end.  I have very fond memories of AC and had a great time in the first years of its life.  I'm hoping LOTR online refreshes those memories.

I can relate to that man. I recently downloaded AC. I had quit it a couple of years ago, but I had plenty of memories of its greatness and how much fun it was. Needless to say when I started up again I was in for a shock. I ended up canceling my subscription just before my free month was over.

Why do developers feel it is in the best interest of the game to make everything easy and satisfy through instant gratification all the players wants and needs? Why do they feel it is absolutely necessary to keep changing things over and over again? It's like having an insane wife who rearranges the furniture every 2 weeks!

This is my message to the game design industry: If it ain't broke, don't fix it! OK!!! Your destroying our sense of nostalgia, the reason why many people come back to these games.

I'm running into the same problem with DAoC as well. It's just not the same game it was a couple of years ago. When I start a new character, I'm not at the same old town I started at when I first played the game. I can't relive the old days. They are gone... and so am I.

In the future, I hope that all MMORPG titles maintain at least 1 server that tries to stick to how the game originally started as ...and let those people that want to feel the good 'ol sense of nostalgia have the chance to do so.

I guess its about time for me to find something new anyway.

Personally, I would want to know if anyone would be willing to start a free server of AC1 with the oldest or close to the oldest version of it so all the hardcore AC fans can come back (and for free). Right now I don't have the money or the knowledge...

That would be the best...and I say best idea ever. I would join so quickly. But how does one do that? Hrm...and perhaps a few updates introduced one by one. I remember alot of the old updates were really good. I haven't replied here for some time.

Aye it is very sad indeed that AC is over. I had friends that played the game from the get-go, but I never got into it till it was too late :( I have a lvl 40, ubt gave up when I heard many other wer as well (when the expansion was pushed back). I played on DT for my part, I watched quite a few awesome 1v1's with my friend Neverdie and other high lvl mages. I am really sorry I missed this game in it's prime, I just hope more mmo's realize what made AC great and implement it...

AC is not over. It's only over for those who have quit. This new date for the expansion is set to be on time.

A lot of people want this game to be new again, but that's never going to happen. This game is 6 years old, and players use bots to play the game as efficiently as possible.

Personally, I can get passed the old game blues because I appreciate AC for what it is. I love the patches. I love the stuff they added like tinkering, new quests, and new monsters, etc. The game has more depth than any other mmorpg on the market. The loot system is the most diverse and interesting for any game I've seen period.

If you come into it with the right attitude, and want to learn all the new functionality, quests, npcs, loot system, tinkering, etc, then this game is amazing. Stop blaming everything on bots.

AC i must say is the best game Iv EVER EVER played. It had such a great community, Mostly everyone was friendly on Wintersebb. I miss them all. I remember PvP in AC, it was so much fun. What i liked most about it was the Loot system, Everything was Unique and it was rare to see someone with a similar item as you. This game will never be beat, i love how you could make a character unique in clothing, stats, and Tradeskills.

Asheron's Call, May you rest in peace.

If anyone knows me out there I am Warist-The-Feared a lvl 160+ BM i can't remember what lvl. And i also played Smiggity. Send me a email if you remember me:)

Hey guys I was looking around for a free server for AC1 cause i once played it too and i also woudl liek to play it where everyoen wasnt just macroing around everywhere, i went back 2 months ago to try to relive it and they made pvp so non fun that i quit after 2 weeks and sold all my plats on ebay haha.  But anyway what i was thinking is why couldn't we start a free server, even if it wasnt free like a couple bucks a month i would pay a couple bucks a month for a fun asheron's call server, either coudl make it liek the original game way back when or make like a pvp server, me myself i loved PvPing, me (Life Archer) and a friend who used a sword used to raid blood mansion all the time the 2 of us would take out 15 bloods before going down it was so much fun(that was back when blood had like 20k members or something outragous liek that) but anyway if anyone has any ideas that woudl be awsome.  Could have a server where everyone started at level 100 and could pvp or could just have one liek the regular server where you start at 1 without all the stupid stuff.

  • FalconoffuryFalconoffury Member Posts: 555

What kind of macroing are you talking about? I haven't seen anyone macroing to kill monsters afk in over 6 months. They ban for that.

  • KalvynKalvyn Member Posts: 56
    Perhaps you miss-interpreted him... image
  • MitchNeafMitchNeaf Member Posts: 2

Well, even though they banned for it everyone still did it.  Once i realized all my friends, and my enemies were doing it i started, now i didnt afk macro i would sit there and read a book while it would kill stuff but still, most of my friends i would see killing stuff then message them and wouldnt say anything to me for hours, so just because it wasn't allowed doesnt mean it didn't happen.  I only did it so I could keep up, but found it really took the fun out of the game, along with pvping.  But anyway its cool too see a few people are willing to even chip in some money for a new server.  Now ive played a few free server daoc/lineage2 but I dont know how they work.  Does anyone have any experience with this type of thing?  Whats the price on a server per month and how many people could you get on a single server?  I would like it if you could have a high level pvp server and a server that starts out at 1, i would think a pvp server would be pretty easy to throw together, wouldnt have to have a wide range of monsters, could do something with the drop system and maybe have a gambling area where you could win full bags of salvage along with different tinkerable weapons and armor.  As far as the drop system im not sure maybe only drop 1 or 2 things rather than 15 on the real servers or i dont know do have hunting areas so people can get items to keep them from dropping who knows.  Anyway thats all i wanted to say
