pushing back a beta date is differnt than saying beta is ready, and it will begin immediately. Pushing a beta date back 5 years, is differnt than pushing a beta back 6 months. I never said this is vaporware, so I don't know what you are talking about concerning that.
Ghoul you take ignorance to a whole new level. As was stated that true development didnt start until they merged with aventurine in 2003(the same year beta was supposed to be live).
Also just because a game is ready for beta doesnt mean its close to completion like it is said now.
In 2005, they said the game was ready for beta, and beta was going to start immediately. That was a lie. There is no other way to describe it.
So according to you AoC, G&H, WoW, SWG, and almost every other game on that list to the left are Vaporware because they pushed their Beta dates back so they lied? Pushing your Beta back is not a lie it's merely a miscalculation. Lets hear you prove one time that they actually did lie and not just them miscalculating the readiness of their product for Beta. Dude your grasping at straws here. What I love is all the people on this site who demand people show proof that the game will release but then turn around and basically say it's vaporware "Because I say so!". There is a lot more proof that this game actually does exist then that it doesn't. You guys are just guessing at all this Vaporware crap in an effort to discredit the game and the developer. All of the people here have given you the Developer's statements and even financial reports about the loan they just took out and all you have to rebuff this argument is "It's vaporware 'cause I say so". If you think it's vaporware then I highly suggest you give up and leave as there is really nothing here for you anymore. Go and play a nice game of WoW, at least you know that will be around for years to come.

As you can read below, it started in 2000. Now stop spreading your lies already
But I'm getting ahead of myself. Perhaps it would be best to first start with history. The first month was spent working on Darkfall's original 3D engine while moving into the new office in Oslo, buying new PCs and office equipment, and projecting goals for the future which eventually lead to the expansion of the Razorwax staff. By the close of July the following year, Razorwax had moved offices twice, hired seven new employees including five game logic programmers, and was poised to announce their game to the public on the first of August, 2001 with an expected launch date of Q1 2003

Do you honestly believe that eight developers can actually build a quality game in only 3 years? Especially a game that plans to offer true freedom and great features? Tell me ghoul do you believe they can because from your posts thats EXACTLY what your saying.

No , I just want you to quit lying about when development began. You don't reset the timer every time you hire more employees. Every company hires more employees as they progress.
take a look at Asheron's call. They started with just 10 employees and finished the game in 4 years.
In May 1995, I walked into a small suburban home in southern Massachusetts and met my new co-workers. Having left my previous job at a genetics lab, I expected nothing more than an interesting summer project as "A Game Writer." Little did I realize what was in store for me and this start-up company called Turbine.
Having filled every nook of a residential home with PCs, an enterprising group of about ten developers was already busy working on the game that would one day become Asheron's Call. Although not a single one of them had professional game development experience, I was immediately impressed with their enthusiasm and dedication. After introductions, I was told to scrounge around for a desk. Upon securing an end table and a plastic lawn chair, I sat down and started meeting with various team members to figure out just what this game was all about.

Am I lying? No. The only one that misleads people is you. 2000-2003 they only had 8 people that were trying to build and game that has absolute freedom and tell me was AC working on this? No. Also they didnt just get new employees they got a building and a LARGE financial backing. They probably didnt have even 1/10 of the skills that the current DF is supposed to have and the graphics they had...well kinda sad. So yes after 2003 is when the true development started.
So to compare two compltetely different game's is a completely idiotic thing to do.
it is vaporware. until there is concrete evidence that is being released, it wont be taken seriously. at this point who really cares. the game had its chance, the love affair has come and gone. all there is anymore are bitter arguements about what will be, could be and should be.time to move on.

What proof do u have saying its vaporware? Missed beta dates are very poor examples because AoC has missed more than DF.
There is alot of evidence in the past posts and you can go look it up if you please but if you choose not to than theres no point in arguing.
okay with that being said how has AOC missed more than a game that has been in "production" since 2000, or 2003 or whatever year it officially started. i believe AOC missed one beta if i remember clearly this past couple months as it was due oct 31st (pre-ordered it at gamespot) and now is due out sometime in march 2008 give or take a month or 2.
regardless, there is no way AOC has missed more dates as DF, i followed this debacle that is DF for the past 3+ years its one delay after another. Ive read so much bad press, between posts, official articles regarding how DF is being mishandled being mismanaged, or being stripped down, redone, rewritten, retextured, remodeled u name it, its sad quite frankly. there is nothign u can tell me I havent heard about this game. like i said, til i see concrete evidence this game is going to be released, some formative beta id be happy with. yet that has yet to be the case.
here in fact ill give you the webster definition of it

Function: noun
: a computer-related product that has been widely advertised but has not and may never become available
: A sarcastic term used to designate software and hardware products that have been announced and advertised but are not yet available.

Wasnt AoC orginally announced to release in 2006 and how many delays has it had now?
What "Official Articles' are you talking about? Sure they've tweaked and edit things but isnt that how development is SUPPOSED to go? Yea they've upgraded their graphics but still what does that have to do with anything?
The only things that you have shown was that aventurine has been constantly working on DF.
You still havent shown any proof that DF is vaporware.
what is it? late 2006? vs possible Feb/March 08? thats about what?.....year and change? definitely under 2 years, vs.....3? 4? 5 years? and still not even beta?? come on bro, give me a better comparsion to contrast than that. and you have shouldnt me any proof it isnt vaporware. remember that vaporware can be defined as a game project being continously developed for ongoing years. until it is released or into a definitive closed or public beta with a core amount the game completed it is vaporware.
in fact where does it state its original date of 2006? there this link realted to everything AOC

k touche on the delays of AOC, but darkfall started in 2001. none of this misuse of words or terms called "true starts" it started in 2001, although it was bought up by adventurine it still was in production
example 1) In early August 2001, Razorwax announced the development of Darkfall and launched its official website
example 2 )
In October 2002, Aventurine S.A. was founded in Greece. The Razorwax team was integrated into Aventurine, and five other developers from Norway were hired into the company.[3] When the Razorwax team and the Aventurine team had their first meeting in Athens, a member of one of the teams joked that Razorwax should relocate from Norway to Greece due to the lower taxes and cost of living in Greece. Eventually, the two teams realized that this idea actually made very good business sense,[4] and by December 2002,[5] the relocation of Razorwax was finalized. other than relocation and a merger there was no true stop in production other than to fit razorwax into adventurine S.A....... blah blah so on and so on... and the exodus continues
Vaporware speculation
Darkfall has been dogged by speculation that the lack of definite information and publicity, along with the significant time the game has spent in development (Begnning in 2001 under Razorwax, though the game's change to be developed under Aventurine SA may be a reason for this), suggests it may be actually vaporware[16].
where does it say that it started "true develpment" in 2003?
ive come to realize questionable when you pick a lost cause u really stick to it. but hey more power to you.

I wonder if you realize this or not but Wikipedia isnt a relialble sight to really base your info off of.
No it doesnt say that but when aventurine and rasorwax merged was when development really got underway. Until then it was just 8 guys working on it in a basment and you think they can get much done espically with the jobs and lives they had? When they merged they added 20+ more people and than had more time to work on the game.
Also if you didnt know trying to stick the normal time frame on a game that isnt your normal point-click level tread-mill is an idiotic move.
Lost cause? You still havent shown anything to suggest that its vaporware that cant be debunked.
This game was my dream game about 2 years ago. I've since quit dreaming. I don't think it'll come out like they've said. Shadowbane did the same damn thing to me. I'd love to see this game become reality, but come on, I can read the writing on the wall.

You think its just me who thinks that wiki isnt reliable? From my knowledge almost every school i know of doesnt allow wiki because of that very reason.
theres alot of evidence as i've already previously said but apparently you dont care because you dont wan to read it.
Also even though it isnt a reliable source i still posted a response but you can believe what you want.

actually i dont believe ur right. I hardly wont be wanting to be getting into beta. but I appreciate your attempt at a witty comeback. but I degress, questionable is entitled to his opinion, just as I am, i seen some of the facts, i seen the pattern of this game has taken And I've come to the conclusion that as Far as I am concerned that this game has given no credible evidence it has or will go into beta anytime soon.
Whether or not AOC has been delayed 3-4 times, darkfall has and will be discredited and not taken truly serious until Adventurine brings something to the table. Unlike questionable I will formally retract my statement about it being vaporware if there is an official beta by December/Jan and yes questionable, you can hold me to that.
as far as me being here, i was debating with an individual on a topic I disagreed with and had a mature, intelligent debate with the another person about it. why wouldnt I be here??

okay, you don't want to play DF beta and think it is OK that a game has been delayed 4 times since 2006 (!). What are you doing here and not in AoC forum ?
The only thing I come up with is trolling.

why do i gotta be trolling?and no i dont think its okay AOC has been delayed 4 times. nor do i think it is fine that DF has been delayed as it has. cant i have a sensible discussion with someone on a topic i dont agree with?? isnt that the point of debates?

Your right your entitiled to your opinion but if you dont have much of anything to back it up than why continue to believe it? Pattern? two missed beta dates isnt much to make a pattern off of and if these patterns are so reliable than i guess AoC will be delayed a SIXTH time.
Did you know the work "Darkfall" has been copyrighted by Aventurine not to long ago and that to have somethign copyrighted that you need some proof of said product? That right there is enough evidence to disprove most if not all vaporware claims.
Well no one has to prove it is vaporware because it has already met the standards for vaporware, what you have to do is prove it is not. A bunch of vague statements on a website that could or could not indicate progress is NOT proof.
What we need is some substance from these devs, showing it at shows, even letting Warcry take a peek at it. Neither has come close to happening. The most important thing in this arena is publicity for your game. They have not shown one iota of interest in that so far which leads me to believe they still do not have a working product.
So until someone veritifiable from the outside world has seen the working game in action and documented it, this game wil continue to be the king of vaporware.
I was browsing the other day and came on a site with MMO terminology defined, included in the definition of vaporware was Darkfall. It has become that renowned.

I never stated when it was founded that is a whole other story.

Am I lying?

Ive read so much bad press, between posts, official articles regarding how DF is being mishandled being mismanaged, or being stripped down, redone, rewritten, retextured, remodeled u name it, its sad quite frankly. there is nothign u can tell me I havent heard about this game. like i said, til i see concrete evidence this game is going to be released, some formative beta id be happy with. yet that has yet to be the case.
here in fact ill give you the webster definition of it
Pronunciation:
'vA-p&r-"wer
Function: noun
: a computer-related product that has been widely advertised but has not and may never become available
: A sarcastic term used to designate software and hardware products that have been announced and advertised but are not yet available.
have a good day sir.

Age of Conan began internal beta testing in Summer 2006,[11] and opened the beta registration process on April 3, 2007.[12]
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Age_of_Conan:_Hyborian_Adventures
now i want you to contrast that to DF
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darkfall

True development didnt start until 2003 ,when they merged with aventurine, and than they missed the beta date in 2005 so that makes it 2v2.
http://www.gamespot.com/news/6176487.html
Now lets compare how many time they missed dates shall we? 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.
So AoC missed 5 and DF only missed 2 in all.
k touche on the delays of AOC, but darkfall started in 2001. none of this misuse of words or terms called "true starts" it started in 2001, although it was bought up by adventurine it still was in production
example 1) In early August 2001, Razorwax announced the development of Darkfall and launched its official website

I'd love to see this game become reality, but come on, I can read the writing on the wall.
now wiki aint reliable lol. okay i guess its true, u can lead a horse to water but u cant make him drink. enjoy ya vaporware game. when this games out in 2010 we will all be thanking you for your wonderful insight lol. im done with this discussion. there isnt any convincing you and i wont try, but as far as I am concerned until i see concrete proof a closed beta, or a public beta is underway, u cant tell me anything. insult me if you wish. vaporware partial-easy bake oven-done-ware be what it may, this game is a ghost, an apparition, until it comes up out the dark hole it is in, and sees the light of day on a best buy or gamespot shelf, your words hold little credibility. so enjoy your make believe game bro, more power to you. ill let this debate be.

You think its just me who thinks that wiki isnt reliable? From my knowledge almost every school i know of doesnt allow wiki because of that very reason.
theres alot of evidence as i've already previously said but apparently you dont care because you dont wan to read it.
Also even though it isnt a reliable source i still posted a response but you can believe what you want.
i am going to believe what i wish. u can tell me til your blue in the face. its not going to change my view on the matter. have a nice day.

nak just leave then Y are oyu here if yout hink its vaporware cause ill bet youll be 1 of the people there begging for a beta excess and you know im right
i wonder y they pulled a 20 million dolla bond then if its vaporware WoW if ti wasnt about to go into beta then i wonder how there going to pay off that geese it pretyy obvious your just very impatient
actually i dont believe ur right.

And when we got more women on the team, it was like No, no, no. We need puppies and horses in there.

why do i gotta be trolling?and no i dont think its okay AOC has been delayed 4 times. nor do i think it is fine that DF has been delayed as it has. cant i have a sensible discussion with someone on a topic i dont agree with?? isnt that the point of debates?

Your right your entitiled to your opinion but if you dont have much of anything to back it up than why continue to believe it? Pattern? two missed beta dates isnt much to make a pattern off of and if these patterns are so reliable than i guess AoC will be delayed a SIXTH time.
Did you know the work "Darkfall" has been copyrighted by Aventurine not to long ago and that to have somethign copyrighted that you need some proof of said product? That right there is enough evidence to disprove most if not all vaporware claims.
well lets not put the horse before the cart there bub.lets just wait til beta comes out....
