No beef with the author of the article, but there is something noticably off with the results. Of the six times SWG/SOE was mentioned, none were in fact the author's pick. I'm assuming this is because either the author played SWG to find out for himself where it ranked, or did some research asking the folks that currently play. The vote itself was likely the result of a concerted effort by the resident dissidents in the SWG Veteran's Refuge here at MMORPG.com, individuals that no longer play the game since the NGE occured 2 years ago.
I would ask that some disclaimer or notice to the effect that this was obviously a concerted effort by those individuals be posted in conjunction with the article. It isn't very difficult to sway the outcome of public opinion polls, especially ones taken with a simple CGI script. They are often misleading and only indicative of the motivated biased. This can be very easily demonstrated for the unbelieving. For every one person who voted SWG as the worst in each category, you can find a crowd of happily gaming subscribers enjoying the latest improvements and features SWG has added in the time since the NGE. Those that have returned and given SWG another chance have found that it is in fact doing well, and that much has changed.
Every time I post here at MMORPG.com, I like to reach a hand out to those cynical dissidents, still filled with rage and still feeling betrayed from the events of two years past and invite them to come back and give it a second chance. In fact, if you try logging into your old inactive accounts, you'll find that you've got 21 days free automatically, just to check it out again. (It'll go automatically inactive again at the end of the 21 days, so no worries about fiddling with billing). Give it a shot and come on home. You might be surprised.

Thanks, a good read. Although i do agree that people who don't play probably voted in this 'Poll' *I didn't see this specific article so my details are low at best*
I've highlighted some interesting points.
Does he backup ' d this with any numbers ? any data collection proof it ? Why he doesn't let people vote about in sucker boards ?
And about those who "returning hapily", rather see the buble vet trial burst.
Contrary to what he pretend to do "reach his hands" to vets he call us vets names in same sentance ... "cynical dissidents" .

I actually kind of pity the guy, he's just trying to do his job.
Selling this game cannot be an easy task, and I wouldn't be surprised at all if he was looking for another job soon.

All I can say is that for someone who admitted never playing the game before the NGE much less Pre-CU, and who has only managed to take a Jedi to CL28 in 3 months, GreyPawn sure talks big.
He really should learn to keep his mouth shut when it comes to pre NGE.

SOE and SWG's reputation is so bad that only a propoganda master on the level of Joseph Goebbels might move their image even 6 inches. GreyPawn's PR ability is more in line with Nancy McIntyre.

Greypawn actually surprised me once by responding to something I said in another thread.
He agreed with me when I mentioned that I believe innovation is the key to success for any MMO, but he fell quite silent when I asked him what innovation has SWG made in the last 2 years.

I want some of the stuff they were doing when they came up with the idea that the NGE as it was released was going to turn SWG into a Wow-killer. They must be spending the money they are supposed to be spending on devs on some very high end exclusive mind altering drugs...

If this SOE staff person thinks that his company treated their playerbase badly on one isolated occasion that occured two years ago, he really has no idea how SOE has conducted business. Greypawn if you wanna reach out your hand, do a little research so you know what you're talking about. You sound uninformed, and uninformed efforts can do more harm than good.

Its not as if any Dev HAS to work for SOE these days... Everyone and their brother has a MMO startup going right now, Devs with any ability are much in demand. Then again, these ARE SOE devs, so throw out the "any ability"...
None the less, just because he works for SOE, doesn't mean it gives you the right to personally assault him about his weight, appearence, or anything else you deem nessacery.
He works because he enjoys it, and it pays for what he wants.
Never worked for me. I always got a pop-up saying the account was closed and go open a trial account. The last time I was subscribed ended in early June, when I checked out Chap6. The only "vet trial" that ever worked for me was in Dec'06.

I work for exxonmobil....environmentalists hate us. Does that mean i am going to quit my job? Hell no. I like what i do. Couldn't give a rats arse what you say. They pay well, and treat their employees great. Why the hell would i leave? just because some yuppy, no shoes wearing hippy says we're destroying our environment? Nope. Why? I like my job, and i have a family to provide for.
