Darkfall Dev Journal 15

Can be found here:

http://www.warcry.com/articles/view/devjournals/darkfalljournals/2289-Darkfall-Dev-Journal-15-A-Visit-From-a-Fan

Some highlights:

A lot of the same going on since the last update. It's going to be like this until we launch more of less. Still adding content, balancing, testing, optimizing etc. We're making good progress. A couple of numbers I heard today: nearly 12 thousand items in the game, and 706 complex quests at launch. If there's an interesting development it's that we've narrowed in on a specific beta date and we should be announcing it very soon, right after we make sure that a couple of conditions are met.

And:

Asp has played pretty much every MMOG out there since Ultima Online, and his reaction really elevated our spirits, made us remember what our goal is: to hopefully blow you away. We don't get that many visitors around here so it was great meeting with him. I believe he's going to write something on his impressions when he gets back home.

So they have a beta date!!!! Great!! And well get to see what the game is like once asp posts his review!!!

Good update  .  Beta is SO close!

He got to play the demo, but not the beta version since it was down. And I wonder if they are going to let him post a review.

And they still don't  have an official beta date.

It is encouraging, but it will be more encouraging when they actually start the beta.

Very promising, I think something of substance is starting to form from within the mist.....

Looking forward to ASP's thoughts on the game.....

    Short but sweet I'd say.

"We were hoping to maybe give him a small beta preview but he couldn't delay his visit until Monday for our beta build to be up again. "

How convenient. Out of all the days that "beta" could be offline it just happened to be the very day when someone was there to see it.

So let me sum this Dev journal up for you.   More useless words with no one having actually seen or played beta.

Let me just remind the fanboy of something who are inevitably stroking their rods to this "news".  They were visited by a fan before 3-4 years ago and he also wrote up some nice "words".  3-4 years later after his visit and theres still nothing to show for it.

"Asp from the Lords of Death guild visited us today. He was in a neighboring country on business and he made the trip down to meet us, see what we're up to, and to hang out. We were hoping to maybe give him a small beta preview but he couldn't delay his visit until Monday for our beta build to be up again. We talked about city building, conquest, tactics, the economy, griefing, clan cities, alignment, racial balance, and a lot more. He met several of the developers and saw some of the work. We let him play our demo to get a feel for the gameplay. Asp has played pretty much every MMOG out there since Ultima Online, and his reaction really elevated our spirits, made us remember what our goal is: to hopefully blow you away. So he played some offline demo.

    Is that beta? No.

Does that show the functionality of a massive online world capable of supporting hundreds in massive siege battles? No

Does that show the supposed hundreds of quests functioning in-game ? No

Does that show hundreds of skills and quests and monsters and thousands of items and god knows what else that they've been touting for 7 years? No

Some lame demo after 7 years might cut it for the delusional fanboys but not for people that actually see things as they truly are.

Until theres a public playable demo to review this is all more useless shit.

  • elitexionelitexion Member Posts: 188

    HA it was online demo

  • gl0bunnygl0bunny Member Posts: 28

No you're the one who's blind. Wake up dude.  Talk is cheap after 7 years.  It's time for action or go home.   And the fans who followed this thing for so many years should be insulted by this so called "dev journal".

  • elitexionelitexion Member Posts: 188

    HA

  • gl0bunnygl0bunny Member Posts: 28

no it doesn't say anywhere there that beta is around the corner.

They have a playable offline demo?  So why not show it publically to the fans instead of completely useless dev journals like this one?????

I am sure you would agree that playing that demo they have would be much more interesting than reading a paragraph of text, right??

Guys.......Stop feeding the troll please. Just ignore him and eventually he'll go away. Your giving him the attention he's looking for by arguing with him so just don't. Pure and simple. This is SO obviously someone who got banned for trolling this forum and is here now to get some kind of half-assed revenge. This account he's using was made for the express purpose of trolling this forum. 23 posts, all in this forum, all negative against Darkfall and all down right insulting to the posters here. If I had to hazard a guess I would say this is someone that got reported by someone in this forum and now has totally dedicated his online life to making the posters here feel like they owe him something. It's really a pathetic attempt at getting attention. So I would suggest everyone just block him right now and take away his reason for being here in the first place. Enough said.

Edit: Oh and don't bother to reply to this gl0bunny as I have already blocked you and will not see it, TROLL!!!

I'm with ya, I really think they need to let in more people to try it out, this whole tightlip thing really has me looking away, but this journal did seem interesting, kind of making me raise an eyebrow.

Not by much though still need more third party reviews.

    Bollocks!

They let him test the demo and would have let him try a closed beta version. Why ? Because they liked the man, Asp is the gamer they wanted to make their game and in a way shared common goals and dreams with. That two relatively important people in Aventurine shared their day with him, points to this.
