I quit FFXI at level 50.  The MAIN reason i quit was because of the ridiculous amount of time required to find a group at that level.  The higher level you got the longer the wait.   At level 50 I was happy if it only took my 3 hours.  Some times it would take DAYS to get a group.  The higher in level I got the more the game sucked.  I had a blast pre-level 30.

i didn't quit ffxi, but i just want to say that, yes thoes thing that caused you guys to quit piss me off too. i play a 45SAM/22WAR (im on the slyph server) and it is a BITCH to find a PT at lvl 30+. and, not all JP players hate USA players, i have had ALOT of JP PT's you just have to go with the plan and do your job (laf) then they will respect you and tell there friends about you image

PS. currently looking for someone to "sponsor" my account. my parents won't pay for my "habbit" any more image image

I quite FFXI after four days and reaching level 5.  No offence intended, but the game uses the same old stock formula for calculating what opposition should be where, as most other MMORPG out there..... the further you are away from 'civilisation', the badder they get.  Is anyone else getting sick of such predictability?  I mean on the one hand, you don't want to scare newbies away, but on the other you want there to be some challenge out there somewhere..... I would rather like it if some bad-ass monsters popped up on people getting complacent just hacking anything in sight, rather than everything being a slow grey progression like 'Oooh, it's got a new special attack!' *sigh*

The problem is, we've almost all seen it before somewhere else.  You have to catch yourself if you want to avoid stifling a yawn with some games, seriously.

As much fun as it was, I dont believe I could ever stand the higher levels... you needed the PERFECT party to fight basically anything, and as much as i love japanese people, its always a pain sometimes trying to communicate with those of another language :S

I stopped playing 3 months after release. I was a (tarutaru female) 30 whm/15 brd and did blm to 10. The one thing that really bothered me was that the majority of  players that were in the area I had advanced to hunt in were chinese. I could not communicate with them, and the translator thing just was not cutting it. I think, and I am sure many other agree that communication in a mmorpg is a MUST have. Fumbling around with a translator in mid combat can ruin your experince and could easily cost your group  by missing something important while trying to type out hello or a plan.

Also, it seemed to many people were restricted to certain zones and it was hard finding a group. For me, I was a whm, I personally didn't have a problem, but I know A LOT that did. I also love to explore and try out new territories. I believe that is another huge aspect in the game. That takes me back to the previous statement of how people were restricted to certain areas, afraid to go further out and see what could be had.. Me, alone as a whm I couldn't possible solo in different areas so I was stuck with the same ole zones that were crowded as all heck and you would be lucky to get 1 mob every 15 minutes..... Which, because of it being so crowded, made leveling that much harder.

I really did however enjoy the cities, their auction houses and the people that I could understand while visiting in the city and just mingling. It had that friendly, homely atmosphere that a lot of games can not achieve. I just wish that when they had launched FFXI that they could have some how had seperate servers for all the new comers (NA) that way it would have been a lot easier to meet and grow with people and be able to understand one another.

I know there is a bunch more stuff I can say in regards to FFXI, but.. I will leave it at this for now. Good day!image
