Lmfao you guys are so delusional, you will believe anything now they could throw you a low Res pic and you will be feeding of its scraps for the next 3 months on how awsome it was.
It's just more talk. It doesn't mean much of anything until they have thousands of people "reviewing" it. And if those thousands feel that its great then they have something , if they don't then they are screwed plain and simple.
One persons personal opinion of something he tested doesn't carry any weight. And his 1 subscription isn't going to matter.
They need thousands upon thousands upon thousands of subscribers to make a mmorpg profitable enough to stay online. And in todays mmo market place doing that isn't as easy as it was when EQ1 and AC1 were in their golden years. Just take a look at games like Ryzom for example that went bust and Ryzom was a very robust , well built game.
Someone was also there visiting them 4 years ago and tested something himself too and did his own write up saying he liked what he was showed. But years later theres still nothing for the public to actually see or play.
Personally , from a business view , I think this project is doomed even if it does enter the market. It's about 2+ years too late. It will never hold up to the heavy hitters like AoC and Warhammer and like it or not it *HAS* to if its expected to have tens of thousands of subscribers. I am not even going to mention WoW's new Exp pack. That alone has the potential to put big dents into the subscriber base of even the most well known mmog titles out there. And the fact its much more PvP centric and dynamic doesn't bode well for other similar style games.
Sure there might be an early surge of players because everything has lots of people checking it out when something is "new". Especially when its a MMORPG but then things tend to die down when people get their "free play" fix and move on to what the masses are playing.
I just don't see this project having the potential to be a success anymore even it does make it to pay to play. sorry
.... Okay that does it... Don't any of you bloody vaporware trolls know how development fucking works? Age of Conan, Chronicles of Spellborn, even Blizzard, they all have NDA's that people have to abide too. You think the people who have seen all this are going to spout out random bits of game for you just to satisfy your cockiness? Sorry, but it doesn't work that way, Blizzard are more tight lipped about their products and titles but does anyone complain about them? No and how can Darkfall give a video of ALL the gameplay mechanics when they're not even bloody all implemented yet? They're still finishing it up, I can't believe the idiocy of some of you honestly, go and do some fucking research before you badmouth a game for no reason because your just making yourselves look stupid for repeating the same fucking thing over and over, no sodding substance my ass, I swear I've seen the same people post the same kind of crap a couple of months ago at a dev journal your just being pathetic.
Quoting people doesn't make you clever, in fact, it makes you all the more stupid for not bothering to read the quotes you post in the first place.
I did not badmouth anything nor did I make myself look stupid. I gave my own personal opinions on why I feel this project will fail even if it does reach market. If you cannot handle that then that is your own personal problem. This is how adults converse. <Mod edit>
Yes, it's your opinion nothing more, why is that? It's because your arguments barely have anything to do with what Darkfall is about, the game is aiming at a very niche group, it is completely seperate from games like WoW or City of Heroes, the only game I've seen that could possibly be considered similar to it is Chronicles of Spellborn or perhaps EVE Online as well in terms of the systems they use. You just saying that because a couple of other games being released that have nothing to do with the game does NOT make it vaporware, that has absolutely nothing to do with whether it is vaporware or not.
And you being an immature idiot when your 33 just proves how wrong you are, you think being arrogant is going to make people listen to you even more? Trying to insult people because of their age is about as pathetic as you can get.
Quoting people doesn't make you clever, in fact, it makes you all the more stupid for not bothering to read the quotes you post in the first place.
well he didnt say its vaporware hes saying its going to suck and its going to crash and burn like dark and light basicly but hes so wrong its not funny
He's being saying it's vaporware in the past posts he's made as well, so I'm just getting him for that, I swear these people must be the same because they all say the exact same bloody things.
Quoting people doesn't make you clever, in fact, it makes you all the more stupid for not bothering to read the quotes you post in the first place.

You are wrong.
Just look around, a lot of ppl(or fanboys) waiting for darkfall. The point is, darkfall is as much different as any other game in development, that a lot of player will play it, especially the old uo players(pre trammel).
Darkfall may be a niche game, it may just have 100-200k subscriber(but this would be enough anyway), and they will be diehard fans for a long period of time, because they have waited around 10 years for a new game, which offers more freedom as the standard EQ clones, like the old UO or even more.
(at least i personally wait since UO trammel for a game like UO with modern 3D graphics, new movement(wasd) and some minor improvements.. i really had my hopes up for UO2, and after that for Dragon Empire.. and now only Darkfall is left)
The only thing which can fall darkfall, is darkfall and their devs themself, if it is buggy or extremely laggy.
But if it is as solid as all we hope here, it will be a success.. maybe just a niche success, but most probably a new success like eve, a long lasting success. Just my impressions. And this review is just another step, that our hopes could be true.
Silas stated his/her opinion. He/She is entitled to do so. What amuses me is when 'Pro' folks call 'Con' folks' opinions 'immature, wrong, etc' and tell the poster to 'Go Away, get lost, you are wrong' etc. What makes the 'Con' folks wrong? Because they are....wrong...in your opinion? Now THAT is childish and immature.
The review of the game was okay but the 'Pro' opinions are exactly that. Opinions. You 'Pro' folks are just as likely to be wrong as the 'Con' sayers.
Learn to argue credibly, folks. It will save you a lot of frustration when you get older.
You people will grasp at anything even remotely new and or positive about this game.
First of all it's not even technically a review. It's some guy on a second rate two bit website emailing his friends on what he saw/experienced. Also it seems, the people over at LoD are quite excited and hyped over this game even now. So not really a unbiased account.
Secondly, the so called PR people over at DF had to look over this so called "review" before it was relesed. So right there it shows you it's not a review. When we see a real review from a neutral proper website then will talk.
Lastly, the guy doing the review was given something to demo/play that is a year old. So how is this a proper review?
Look I'm not here to see DF fail. Infact I hope it succeeds. I'll be the first one to come here and say I was wrong, this game is everything they said it would be. But you DF fan(antics) need to take a big hit of reality.
learn to mind your own biz and not post we dont want to hear it
Guess what, welcome to an open forum. So what you want to hear really doesn't amount to crap.
As far as DF is supposed to be, I like the features and such. The features would make a really good game. Unfortunately, I don't feel that Darkfall will be the one to bring even 1/3 of these features to light. Why? Too much talk, and nothing to show for it after how many "we're going to hold betas starting X/X/XXXX"?
It's not game development that's hoding DF back, it's DFs' developers who are holding DF back.
But you keep on re-reading that "review" (lmao) one individual who supposedly played the game wrote, so you can keep your faith up. 'Cause it's about the only half-assed "proof" of an actual game there is.
A fan went to Athens, played the game (in some form) and said it was awesome.
Now you can either believe...
-they played it, and it was indeed awesome
-they played it, but were lying about it being awesome
-they never played it, and are just lying
-they don't exist, the clan is making it up
or
-the clan doesn't exist, the devs are just making it up
None of those options can be proven unless we go to Greece for ourselves, and apparently we can't trust other people to go because they might just lie about the whole thing.
At this stage it's all a matter of belief, not facts.
Personally I believe he did go there and try the game. I believe he was restricted to reveal anything new because of an NDA. I believe he was not giving a review but rather a informal hands on impression. I believe he was there on more important terms and that this visit was a secondary priority for him.
I follow this game because it sounds interesting, something I would like to play. I'm not bound to its fate, nor would I make sacrifices of any kind for its benefit.
This is the stance of many Darkfall fans, we are not blind followers because we support the idea of game that may or may not come out. We are not gullible idiots just because we get excited when we hear some news (which as you know is a rare occurrence).
What I'm saying and always have said is that no side of the vapour-argument can be 100% correct because there is no beta. For that reason, it's the naysayers that may as well step back since your only purpose is to argue a point which cannot be proved eitherway and spur the believers into negative stereotyping. If the game is canceled or fails, then you will have your moment. But until then, you have no reason to keep posting and will be labeled a troll.

This is how I see it playing out. DF will be a niche success like EVE....(maybe a few more subs because it is a fantasy MMORPG which is more popular with folks) and its followers will be very loyal, playing the game for many years. They won't be lured away by the 'flavor of the month' MMO's

Very well stated Digna.
anywho...
The ship combat stuff does sound interesting. I wonder if there will be sharks? Like if you sink an enemy ship, and the surviving crew is left floating around in the water... do they have to swim back to shore? Wait to be rescued? Can they get tired and drown? Will sharks come eat them? I imagine that'd be a really funny site to sink an enemy ship and sail in circles around the wreckage watching the sharks go to town.
Actually, that's very, very morbid of me to think lol... but it's just a game.
Not everyone will love Darkfall. And that is ok, really it is! No need to be SUCH a troll and flame poster who has probably been reported many times already in this thread....
I played UO back in the day, and it was both fun and infuriating. I'd like to check Darkfall out to see if they can recapture the fun that old UO was, but that is such a high bar to reach, I honestly don't think a first time "indy" developer can pull it off. Hope they do, but I'm very doubtful.

Actually, I've been far from a troll in this thread, and have said/done nothing to be reported for, so not worried about that too much. Unlike elitexion, I state my reasons for my opinion of the game without having to resort to "go away n00b" responses and personal attacks.
yea but your personaly attacking the game witch is the smae thing as a troll
Sorry, posts such as "this game sucks" are considered troll posts, when that is all they contain. Stating "this game sucks" and then providing a reason for that belief is called stating an opinion. Try reading this sites rules regarding posrting once in awhile. Might do ya some good. Oh, and how do you personally attack a game? Does it have feelings that could get hurt?

What would a DF forum be without the trolls?
But i dont get it, do they wanna play DF or not? I can understand a WoW fanboi talking shit about DF, but the pointless trolling i dont get?
About the review, soon we will have the full version.
yea just dont expect tons of new info just probly more detail
It's just more talk. It doesn't mean much of anything until they have thousands of people "reviewing" it. And if those thousands feel that its great then they have something , if they don't then they are screwed plain and simple.

And I don't ever remember saying there wasn't a game.
