Probably wouldn't even bother with it. Don't get me wrong, I liked KOTOR 1 and 2, and Lego SW was a fun little game, but I doubt I would spend $15 a month for a lego SW online game.
But I will admit that I think it would be cool if they came up with a SW game that had the same graphic style as the clone wars cartoon! After all, Dragon ball online is doing cell shaded and it does look kinda cool (the cell shaded style, don't know much about the game though since I haven't played or watched DBZ in ages)
Im just gonna say, if any of you are fans of KOTOR and Bioware, you owe yourself to play Mass Effect. It shares similiarities with Knights, as well as their other RPGS.
I'm playing Mass Effect. It is a brilliant game. Probably the best game I've played this year. My only worry is that it might be over too quickly, but it sounds as though there's downloadable content on the way. Anyone considering buying a 360, this game should clinch it.
WHY NOT FOR PC!!!!!
I know how you feel. I bought my first console - the Xbox 360 - just a month ago. Glad I did, although there is a distinct lack of quality RPGs. Oblivion, and now Mass Effect, is it!
As a current Austinite and frustrated BioWare fan that was dying to know what IP their upcoming MMO will be based on, I took the liberty of paying a visit to the Austin studio and demanding some answers. After an epic kung-fu battle in which I decimated the entire office and threatened the use of the dreaded Purple-Nurple of Doom on various personnel, I managed to ascertain that which is the Holy Grail of BioWare MMO speculation. The identity of the all-too-mysterious IP. I'm sad to say that the vast majority of you will be all too disappointed.
In an attempt to reach a new and emerging demographic, BioWare is taking a calculated risk with the release of their upcoming title (drum roll please...) Dora the Explorer Online. One industry insider has described the current video game demographic champ (that'd be the 18-34 market) as "So last-gen." Nowadays it appears developers are attempting to tap into the surging 3-6 market. It appears as though BioWare is attempting to get a jump on and, with any luck, cement their status as the 3-6 MMO leader.
Unfortunately, this leaves us with their partnership with LucasArts to produce an interactive entertainment product that we, until now, knew very little about. Once again utilizing my considerable powers of persuasion, I was able to determine that the aforementioned partnership with LucasArts will produce a game tentatively titled "Wii Lightsaber Duel."
It is with deep regret that I bear this bad news, but I submit that we all simply had to know. To the crew at BioWare Austin, I offer my sincere apologies for any harm I may have caused and hope that this won't adversely affect my chances of attending the DtEO Fan Fair.

Well if SOE takes over perpetual then they will own rights to the same launch platform that BioWare has purchased (Yes they bought the platform for their up-coming MMO/not the same thing as the Hero engine, this is a launch tool) BW did this to avoid SOE and their launchpad because any ties with SOE is not a good thing for reasons we all know. Looks like those slimeballs at SOE figured out a way to get in there because they will support the launch tool.
BioWare + LucasArts working together on secret project? Check.
LucasArts had NO currently revealed Online games such as an MMORPG? Check. Hmmmm This could indeed be good news for all those who are hoping for a 'Star Wars' MMORPG from BioWare.

Plenty of ideas
They're still careful about the way they word things. Them and their damn secercy.
Why do I write, create, fantasize, dream and daydream about other worlds? Because I hate what humanity does with this one.
For those of you who don't know the blog by 'Surfergirl', Surfergirl is neither a surfer nor a girl rather he is just a guy who reports bits of information which are emailed to him often by disgruntled/bored employees of companies. SO take this with a massive amount of salt!

"3) BioWare Austin's first massively-multiplayer role playing game, coming 2009, has a fantasy setting akin to the company's previous fantasy role playing games, possibly based on the intellectual property those fantasy role playing games revolved around.
As previously mentioned, this is not related to Star Wars, BioWare Edmonton is working on that one. But the new Star Wars MMO, tentatively slated for the latter half of 2009 (possibly coinciding with the premiere of the Star Wars TV series), is in development elsewhere. LucasArts may have a second MMO up its sleeves as well."

Cool, a fantasy game...do you think you will be able to play an Elf or Dwarf???? That would be soooo cool!!!! Maybe they will have like dungeons with Orcs and stuff...maybe raiding too!!!! This is gonna so rock!
Do you really think that problems of MMOs today are related to their setting or IP ? Than you are really naive I say give me a good MMO. Doesnot mather if its based on fantasy, scifi, submarines, ww2, history ... Whatever it is - just let it be virtual world - sandbox , no more single player emulation for multiplayer
Me naive?
You think bioware is gonna put out something like that???
Its gonna be an IP and its gonna be traditional level / loot based. The nose leading may be a little more elaborate, thats about all I would hold my breath for.
Naive? Me? No, its called sarcasm for the above reasons, you know I'm right. They will stick to what works and an IP.

Bioware stated them selves it will be traditional level/loot based. Whoever expect sandbox game from them is in for surprise.
But i am just saying that game being fantasy or scifi based does not automatically makes it bad or good.
As you seem to suggest.
If anything
When the game is level/loot based i perfer it to be fantasy - because it is only genre level/loot system actualy fits.

The premise really doesn't matter as far as whether its a good game or not, you are correct...
What I am saying is that we are up to our eyeballs in fantasy games. More variations of the same premise. If it was reversed, the same would hold true.
There already are many fine fantasy games out there depending on your taste. In fact, you name a fantasy gameplay type and one is out there. You can not say the same of any other theme whether you are talking about Sci-Fi, historical or contemporary...whatever.
More Elves and Dwarfs endless hacking at rats and goblins with slightly different rule sets / art style and graphics.
Dunno if it fits best in fantasy. Many Sci Fi RPGs fit the level system in just fine. The mechanics are arbitrary in any event.
This seems pretty hardcore "baseless rumor" to me. 1. Fantasy setting? Only fantasy setting Bioware's done have been Wizards products, and Wizards has flat out denied Bioware's MMO is D&D. 2. So now there's a 2009 Star Wars MMO not from Bioware...a D&D MMO from Bioware...and possibly even a 2nd Bioware MMO...um...yeah.
Persoanally I hope this 'Surfergirl' person is really wrong... but I hear they're actually quite well informed, quite often. I really REALLY hope not...
1. They Did have Baldur's Gate... but then why hire someone to deal with the IP if it IS their own? They haven't worked with anyone else's IP I can think of in a fantasy setting either so....
2. Apparently LucasArts, not BioWare, has a second MMORPG up it's sleeves. Based on what Willow? No idea...
All in all, only reason I posted this was because someone I trust who knows the gaming biz quite well showed it to me, so I thought I'd share... but I'm not personally convinced it's true. My knowledge is not the be all and end all so... who knows.
Why do I write, create, fantasize, dream and daydream about other worlds? Because I hate what humanity does with this one.
The human race has been relocated to a underground city located beneath the Earth's surface. In the underground city, the population are entertained by holographic TV which broadcasts sex and violence and robotic police force enforces the law. In the underground city, society controls all life, all citizens are drugged to control their emotions and their behavior and sex is a crime. Factory worker THX-1138 stops taking the drugs and he breaks the law when he finds himself falling in love with his room-mate LUH 3417 and is imprisoned when LUH 3417 is pregnant. Escaping from jail with illegal programmer SEN 5241 and a hologram named SRT, THX 1138 goes in search of LUH 3417 and escape to the surface, whilst being pursued by robotic policemen.
