KOTOR MMORPG Confirmed by BIOWARE

Well apparently it is now confirmed Bioware is making a KoToR mmorpg, set 1000 years before the movie.

umm....this is all speculation. If you read the original article...you would see that. Nothing but speculation until bioware or la say otherwise

From the article:

"A source close to BioWare confirmed that the untitled MMORPG is set in the Star Wars universe of the Knights of the Old Republic."

This isn't an official confirmation.  It's just the same anonymously sourced, unofficial reports that we've seen elsewhere recently.

Umm this is not being managed by SOE, this is from BIOWARE and i dont think they are going to make the same mistakes SOE did.

It's being Developed by BioWare not SOE...if that gives you any sort of comfort.

Except SOE was not alone, and it's likely LA will have their fingers in this too, if it is true.

If somehow biowares fucks it up this will be the second STAR WARS MMO that fails.  And if star wars fails TWICE then it is a sign that the world will truly end soon.

It is not a KOTOR mmorpg. It is a fantasy mmorpg based on the Fire and Ice from what I have heard- but dear Lord- I wish it was true. I hate what SOE has done to SWG, Vanguard and the gaming community. And with Bioware selling to EA...I have no hope for a Star Wars MORPG under Lucas Arts belt or EA's- no offense anyone. But if anyone can pull it off then it has to be worth 860 million.....

Do not confuse bioware with one of these chump rpg companies that release bullshit wrapped in gold trimming. If you dont believe bioware can make the game go play KOTOR, KOTOR2, Jade empire and the up comming mass effect.

I am with you! But after one NGE I think we are all a little cautious for having hope. But I hear its a fantasy.

The reviews that Mass Effect are getting are amazing.  Some compare the universe they created to the depth and intrigue of Star Wars itself.  I wouldn't mind seeing that as their MMO though we know it isn't going to happen.

I don't want LucasArts to have any say in this game and that is why I am holding out hope that it isn't KOTOR.  I absolutely loved both KOTOR games and think they would be GREAT MMO's, but the mere fact that LA owns rights to the IP adds an ominous feeling to the situation.

It is sounding more and more like it is KOTOR though...  Bummer LA has to be involved ay any capacity.

For those hoping it to be KOTOR i hope it's gonna be that, for me personaly i just hope they make a game many of you guy's can enjoy regarless its IP. Knowing bioware it should become a great game..only time will tell. But thats how i feel cause of me being a gamer. I'm sure some of you are very limited so some of you might see this totaly different. But like i said i'm a gamer and i wish anyone involved with games wil find their game they like. Sorry i don't care if someone enjoy's a game i don't enjoy or like as thats not what gamers are about. Only frustrated people are that way. We gamers want games for everyone who wants to play them to be enjoyeble and if not well lets all hope that some of them eventualy find their game. But seeing how limited some people are i geuss it's all a dream for me to see more gamers react to forums like this..

True, we would be right to be dubious, I think. However, the naming of the team head does at least provide the first step towards some kind of verification.

Bummer, was hoping for one of their original IP's. Yay! 10,000 jedi running around!

Anyway, if this is true, I'm happy for those of you that will hopefully get what you've been waiting for in a star wars MMO.

Madalorian, all sorts of positions in the military.

The world is actually deeper and richer than that of the current series, IMO.  Bioware did a great job of setting up the galaxy and Obsidian did a good job of expanding on that...  Endless possibilities because none of it is yet tainted by George Lucas himself.  Bioware has writers on staff that George Lucas can't hold a jockstrap to. 

Lucas is the reason the 3 new movies are garbage.  He stopped being good after the Empire Strikes Back.

Bioware did a very good job of setting up a great Star Wars environment with so much room to expand.

 

This game will be different and Jedis will not be problem. you can be sure. becuse timeline is different.

Never said they would be a problem, as in storyline wise.

Great news! I may not be jumping for joy as some are, but that is only because even though I couldn't see them making it anything other than KOTOR it's not coming out for another +1 year. So in about a year I will be jumping off the walls waiting for the release. Until then AoC is the game I"m flailing around waiting for.

Would be good if all the player's were force sensitive and make the game easier to balance... We shall see, but Bioware has rarely disappointed us.

Hopefully it uses the d20 4th edition ruleset.
