Check the www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/151383/page/1 BioWare MMO FACT gathering thread for pretty much all possible info currently available.

EA owns BioWare now, but they also own Mythic and have been letting them do their thing.

EA shelled out close to a billion dollars to buy BioWare / Pandemic - the top secret mmo is quoted as one of the major reasons [gotta be something really special].  If EA was willing to spend that much on BioWare, they must recognize the brilliantly working formula.  Tampering with that formula would be bad for business... but I still share your fear.

They killed E&B to back SIMS ONLINE. Smooth move, EA.

Anyway read up, there's a lot to learn if you're interested.

Why do I write, create, fantasize, dream and daydream about other worlds? Because I hate what humanity does with this one.

BOYCOTTING EA / ORIGIN going forward.

preCU was a complex mmorpg. It did ok, had about 300k subs. at its peak. But I don't think it did near as well as it needed to convince future game developers to invest money into creating another complex-type mmorpg. Despite the fact that it was a great game, there is clearly a better market out there for more simplistic game-styles. If this is a kotor game I think it will more or less follow the simplistic game template.

I agree but I still think a better Starwars Game is possible. I know that BioWare is not going to give us the SANDBOX / Pre-CU experience many of us want....However, I think a balance can be found. I look for BioWare to produce a "story driven" mmorpg with incredible visual graphics. I think it will also foster a great social environment...cause as we all know, COMMUNITY IS EVERYTHING! I think the main reason SWG has made it this long is because of the tight knit community.

Well with Pirates of the Burning Seas, Pirates of the Caribbean Online and about four other Pirate MMOs...

It's gotta be Monkey Island. :P

*sigh* I've been very skeptical though hopeful about this, but in honesty.. This combined with the rumors makes it logical that it's a KotOR MMO. This since there is no mention of Any new other KotOR game and it's Very unlikely that it's a all new title when they have an established IP/series.

    There's no need to make it harder than it is. 1 + 1 = 2, not 11.

That said, there still is a slight risk/posability/chance that it's not a KotOR MMO, and that must be acknowledged - at any rate I don't get people that only goes "It's not a KotOR MMO stfu!". ^^ Not saying you're one of them, but you almost sound like that imo. ;)

Well, it could be KotOR, it could be a lot of different IPs that LA hold.  It could be a totally different StarWars genre than KotOR (that's my hope).

With this much information given, I see them making a bigger announcement before the end of the year.

What's wrong with Willow? It'd still be better than LOTRO, SWG, WOW and all other WoW clones lol!

I personally hope it's a Day of the Tentacle MMO.

Well it'd still be better than a lot of stuff that's out there lol!.
On the topic of the MMO genre being over saturated with Fantasy MMO's, and now it seems the Sci Fi and pirate genre is picking up. Does anyone else here wonder fi an Old West sort of MMO would fly?

There is no reason to get excited yet guys.  Your just going to have your bubbles busted if you think like this.  As far as we know it's just a "interactive entertainment product. .. ground breaking" at that.  How would a new MMO be groundbreaking?

My guess this is a bit further than a game.

Given the penchant of Lucas Arts to launch fusilades of games to coincide with the release of some Lucas Films product...

Could this be a new Indiana Jones game?

CH, Jedi, Commando, Smuggler, BH, Scout, Doctor, Chef, BE...yeah, lots of SWG time invested.

The gaming community could use a really good sci-fi mmo since the SWG debacle. EVE is nice but it just isn't for everybody. No matter what they announce you can always bank on Bioware making a great game.

“BioWare’s mission is to deliver the best story and character-driven games in the world, delivering powerful emotional experiences to our fans.” said Ray Muzyka, chief executive officer, BioWare Corp. Added Greg Zeschuk, president of BioWare Corp., “The collaboration with LucasArts allows us to combine our passion for creating high quality and innovative experiences with those of a company dedicated to bringing only the finest games to market.

isnt this almost word for word what they said about the new MMO they are making?

I dare to dream and my dream is a new SW mmo and it seems it might just come true.

I think if I see another thread about this I might go burn something.

On a brighter(and less heat intensive) note. Good luck to you all pulling for a good SW mmo. I hope you get what you ask for after what SWG did to y'all.
