I was just thinking how funny it would be if they make an offical announcement regarding a KoTOR MMO on November 15th. If I were in the PR department of Bioware I think I would do just that. : )
Why the 15th? I mean I wish that would happen hehe but why 15th? Pretty sure they'll wait a good while but at least til after ME is out.
ALSO, as Lucas Arts would have full control in this situation, they PROBABLY wouldn't want to draw away from the dwindling SWG until they're ready to make $ elsewhere. Though I think Lucas Arts already does some damage to Snoy/SWG just by not crushing this rumor outright and showing 100% support for SGW...
If i remember correctly, that was the date NGE went live ...
OH lol I'm sure the SWG vets would love that 'twist of the knife'
Why do I write, create, fantasize, dream and daydream about other worlds? Because I hate what humanity does with this one.

I find it very interesting that this thread on the official swg boards wasnt outright locked/deleted, but instead just moved out of GPD, normally they just squash things of this nature as "rumor" etc and thats the end of it. Its on its 9th page atm and still going... The plot thickens "I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of SOE-fanboys suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced."
please change to a couple hundred
lmao, so true. I actually did consider changing that to "hundreds" as I was posting it originally, but in the end I decided that the true number of SOE-fanboys would be such a low number it would just lessen the effect of such a classic SW quote, lol
"Uh, we had a slight weapons malfunction, but uh... everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here now, thank you. How are you?"
Mass Effect - it struck me that since we do know that Bioware is working on a space game and that it has said that it will only work on its own content franchises now, why shouldn't it be this one rather than a KOTOR Online game?
This is a serious question - or have I missed something?
I just woke up and checked my emails. One of them was from the Bioware marketing channel and it highlighted this hugely successful game: http://masseffect.bioware.com/purchase.html Mass Effect - it struck me that since we do know that Bioware is working on a space game and that it has said that it will only work on its own content franchises now, why shouldn't it be this one rather than a KOTOR Online game? this thread might help you a bit if you have not checked it out
They are NOT using their own IP for the MMO. Mass Effect IS a Bioware/Pandemic IP... So, how can one logically deduct that the Bioware MMO is Mass Effect?

I am not deducing anything; I am only suggesting that it might be a possibility.
I have not seen any statement that Bioware is not going to be using their own IP for the MMO; in fact, I have read statements that say precisely the opposite, that after their experience with LA over KOTOR II they would only ever consider working with their own IP in the future.
Believe me, I am an old pre-NGE SWG fan; I want, more than anybody, for a KOTOR Online to come out.

Here dude, check this out. It should answer your questions. It tells you what IP's Bioware/Pandemic own and it shows you that the MMO IP is NOT owned by Bioware/Pandemic. I think it is safe to rule out Mass Effect, though I have no doubt that Mass Effect is going to be a great game.

I'll have to dig thru some bookmarks to find the exact quote, but Bioware has already retracted their previous statement about them only wanting to work on their own ip's etc, this was posted in Bioware's forums if I remember right, after somebody posted something very similar to your post, and it was after they announced they were starting up the Austin offices to work on their new mmo, so I believe the door is still wide open for their mystery mmo to be SW related.
Also, Bioware and LA still wont either confirm or deny that the mmo in question is SW or not, which again leaves the door open for both of them. The only thing I believe that's been said on that subject (SW mmo), by LA, is that they are not planning to release any expansions for SWG, and that there is no "sequel" to SWG in the works, and since technically a KoTOR mmo wouldnt be a "sequel" to SWG, it again leaves the door open on the subject. Infact I'd expect them to distance themselves as much as they can from the trainwreck of a game that is SWG, as that game has pretty much become the laughing stock of the mmo world at this point.

Well, let's hope it is KOTOR 3 then! And that it comes and out and crushes SWG, my lost love who turned so very evil.

Well there ya go, great find AveBethos, straight from the "EA Aquisition of Bioware Corp & Pandemic Studios, Studio Profiles" press release on Oct 11th 2007, and it clearly shows that Biowares upcoming mmo is NOT an owned IP, which kicks the door wide open for it to be SW related, and basically rules out Mass Effect, Dragon Age, and Jade Empire as far as the mystery mmo goes...
"Uh, we had a slight weapons malfunction, but uh... everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here now, thank you. How are you?"
ok, I finally found that thread on the Bioware forums I was talking about, where they backpeddle on their previous statement of not wanting to work on anything but their own IP's etc, so here it is for all the people who keep bringing that up...
no i was talking about the posts in starwars topics in the off topic forum. im pretty sure that henley has made it very clear that bioware will not be working with outside intellectual property.

I never saw those. But they certainly must have been made BEFORE we announced a MMO. Once again, this means nothing (except that James is as valuable a source of info as Woo) as far as what our MMO may or may not be about.

Go. Bots. Go. Bots!
Mighty robots!
Mighty ve-hi-cles!
GO-BOTS!
Between Go-Bots, Captain Caveman, Bionic Six, Dino Riders, Galaxy High, Turbo Teen, and M.A.S.K., we've got a metric pile of properties we can play with do develop an MMO. Heck, I bet if I lobbied hard enough, I could convince BioWare Austin to do a Rainbow Brite game!
And by "lobby," I of course mean "brainwash."
It disturbs me that I know most of those references.
And yes, my comments about focusing on existing BioWare intellectual properties were pre-MMO announcement.

The FACTS are that LucasArts would never let EA publish a Star Wars game, and EA would never let their new pet Bioware have a game published by LucasArts - which means this is not going to happen.
It is not a KOTOR mmorpg. It is a fantasy mmorpg based on the Fire and Ice from what I have heard- but dear Lord- I wish it was true. I hate what SOE has done to SWG, Vanguard and the gaming community. And with Bioware selling to EA...I have no hope for a Star Wars MORPG under Lucas Arts belt or EA's- no offense anyone. But if anyone can pull it off then it has to be worth 860 million.....
"Fire and Ice"
where did you hear that
i would prefer that over star wars bigtime

LOL YES!! this is biowares talents in its full. Exactly what i was hoping
Interesting.

pray its true
the game that started me on rpg's in a mmo setting roll on 2009.
I kinda hope it's not console...however, I do see the benifits
Given the lack of calibre of the dev team team of bioware austin whatever game comes out its going to be shaky
they are BIOWARE, and also there are a bunch of old SWG Pre-Cu devs and KOTOR single player devs who carrying this MMO on.
they are BIOWARE, and also there are a bunch of old SWG Pre-Cu devs and KOTOR single player devs who carrying this MMO on.
Actually...they are EA. Destroyers of franchises everywhere and terminator of creative developers.
They do make a mean football game though
EA stated that they will keep Bioware's indepented and orginality. dont worry about this. NOBODY wants to kill the chicken that lays golden egg.
More unconfirmed speculation, the way BIOWARE are keeping it quiet it probably isn't a KOTOR mmo, With the SW mmo IP already in use.
where are the FACTS
"Don't hold breath about another KOTOR game coming from Bioware" - Chris Preistly
"Bioware is more intrested in pursueing development of it's own Intellectual properties"
- James Henly
The FACTS are that LucasArts would never let EA publish a Star Wars game, and EA would never let their new pet Bioware have a game published by LucasArts - which means this is not going to happen.
No KOTOR MMO. Not yours.
Well, Bioware is no more.. EA bought them.
So this will be a KOTOR mmorpg by EA(so it wont be any good)
Most games EA does are crap.
where did you hear that
