An extensive mount and crafting system would be great too.

Oh, so you want it to fail, do you?

Wtf? Unlike you, im not a carebear.

Free for all open PvP (with our without player looting) will consign any game to death in the modern MMO market, because the audience for this style of play kills off its own content quickly.

So the five of you who want to keep killing each other over and over again can go ahead and have your fun on ghost town servers that make the least populated SWG server now look like Times Square on New Year's Eve.

Oh really? Hmm... As far ive seen, FFA PvP is the "inn thing" because yourkinds are slowly being extinct.

Anyway, I mean FFA like in old SWG. Darkside Vs the Imperial etc stuff like that.

There was never FFA PvP in SWG. TEFs, but that served as a soft boundary between PvP and PvE. Fun as it was, the system was very flawed. TEF riding was a major problem for alot of players; new players who didn't like PvP were deterred by the mechanic. As mad as I was when they removed TEF, I could see the logic behind it because the system was broken. If they could've fixed the TEF riding issue it would've been all good, but it seemed they couldn't.

If you were on the Darkside, could you not go and kill any Imperial (or was it lightside? well w/e) ?

OK, here's where I start wondering what alternate unirvers DaFreak is coming from.

There are, and always have been, two combatant factions in SWG: Rebel and Imperial.  You could be aligned in three possible ways: Rebel, Imperial, Neutral.

PvP could be faction based, or guild based (guild wars), or individuals dueling.  One individual could /duel multiple players, which would turn them into red dots that could be attacked.  So if two Rebels wanted to fight each other, they could /duel to turn each other red.  But as for factional fighting, the only players who were red to you were those of the opposite faction who were voluntarily overt or due to a TEF were overt.

Saber TEF was another thing entirely that prior to publish nine happened when you were "seen" by another player and you had your lightsaber ignited.  You didn't have to attack a player to be TEFd this way, you could be hunting gnorts outside the Moenia starport and become attackable if you were a Jedi using a lightsaber.

So that IS exactly what I meant :S The rebels could kill the Imperial.

I agree! That's exactly my point. Carebears cant play, get owned easily, start whining and then quit PvP alltogether. I play MMO's for competition, im not saying im an ingame GOD. Ofcourse I get killed, but I try my best to kill more than being killed and do that pretty well.
If you cant handle the heat, dont take it. Simple.
This is just how I want KOTOR to be. My opnion.

MMOs for competition? MMOs really weren't made for PVP, MMO most games launched without PVP at the start. I bet you are one of those gnome rogues with super twink gear at level 19 in WoW. *SHUDDER*

I never saw MMOs viable as competitve PVP, it's usually pointless, I only like PVP in MMO when there is a purpose to it such as GCW standing or item rewards or zone control.

I have met quite a few people that likes to PVP but HATES PVE, which makes no sense playing an MMO.

Twinks? I play for a challenge, { Mod edit } . I had a 60 warrior but WoW was the past and I have nothing to do with it anymore.

Well I think completely opposite of what you think, without any player versus player interaction whats the point of an online game?

PvP for zone control etc is also a good idea. But I find FFA PvP alot more challenging and fun.

In other words, you never played SWG. He back tracks again.

When did I ever say I have played SWG? Thats just me making conclusions from what i've heard.

And yes i've played Tabula Rasa and it only has dueling, group dueling, and clan wars. Why bring TR in here? - Lol you just removed your TR statement? Loser.

I took it out because it was a non-issue. The statements you made about SWG are at issue so I took is out to stay on point. But, since you decided to bring up TR after I deleted the statement. WTF does dueling, group dueling, and clan wars have to do with your original statement, which to remind you was free and open PvP? Stick to your point m8, calling me a loser does not dismiss your original statement which amounts to a loser's gameplay, not to mention each and every comment you made about SWG which was, well, just false.

Played (more than a month): SWG, Second Life, Tabula Rasa, Lineage 2, Everquest 2, EvE, MxO, Ryzom.

Tried: WoW, Shadowbane, Anarchy Online, Everquest, WWII Online, Planetside

    Beta: Lotro, Tabula Rasa, WAR.

This is a far cry from free and open PvP isn't it? Saber TEF was a choice. You expose yourself with a saber or robes, you know you are going to get TEF'd. It was always a choice. So if this is what you meant, than you are not for Free and Open PvP. You are your own worst nightmare, a carebear.

That's a pretty specific type of PvP which a majority of SWG players opted out of over the entire history of the game.  There was never player looting in SWG at any time.  You could hardly call SWG "free for all" PvP.

ER... in fact the predecessor's to MMO's were MUD's and they were all about PVP back in the day.  Also, the first few graphical MMO's, UO, AC1, Lineage 1 and Meridian 59 all had strong PVP elements.

Wasn't until EQ came along and removed it that the PVE model was really born......

In fact, its really only here in the west (US particularly) that PVP based combat has been shunned.....

    Dear Outlaw,

It was never my intention to offend you. And I have no quarrels with people who "don't live and breath star wars".  Yet, it makes us wonder what intentions Mr. Da_Freak has coming here to the SWG Refuge forums, attacking former SWG vets, claiming to be one himself, and displaying such poor arguments in his posts. In essence, a troll.

I just hope its skillbased, has free for all open PvP with player looting, and maybe some sort of FPS element in it. I also dont want it to be a button smash.

That's a pretty specific type of PvP which a majority of SWG players opted out of over the entire history of the game.  There was never player looting in SWG at any time.  You could hardly call SWG "free for all" PvP.

I never said SWG had free for all pvp, nor did I say it had player looting. I actually meant semi-FFA. Which is faction vs faction / side vs side in this case.

Fact is, your a carebear! period.

    No more arguments plz!

General Smedley, we have located a NGE TARGET AUDIENCE

    ****

    Target meets requirements :

    - Highly immature

    - Total lack of communication / argumentative skills

    - Displays little Star Wars knowledge (***Recorded as stating: "Dark Side vs. Imperial*** Doesn't compute)

    - Clear indication of no knowledge of the Original SWG

    - Traces of L33T language identified

    ****

    ****Report

Target assessment indicates highly suitable for NGE recruitment. Spotted trolling the enemies HQ at SWG Veteran Refuge.

    ****TRANSMISSION ENDED

I'd rather be an 'NGE TARGET AUDIENCE' than someone who insults people because they dont live and breath star wars. thanks . end of.

I don't care who it is. Anyone claiming prior knowledge should be able to demonstrate that knowledge in text. DaNoob, or whatever. He is a troll, one who wants to wear stormtrooper armor and gank every noob at the gate, unfortunately for him, this has never been swg at any incarnation. At least even SOE wasn't *that* stupid. If there is to be another SW MMO, I want him to be bored out of his mind, because strangely, in a system than has nothing even close to being similar to what he claims it was, we all found a way to have a great time.

Played (more than a month): SWG, Second Life, Tabula Rasa, Lineage 2, Everquest 2, EvE, MxO, Ryzom.

Tried: WoW, Shadowbane, Anarchy Online, Everquest, WWII Online, Planetside

    Beta: Lotro, Tabula Rasa, WAR.

SWG system was best with overt covert and keep all the PVE and PVP players together but being able to chose between the two that you want.

Then you'd better just give up on MMOs entirely, because the sort of thing you want just does not sell to a mass audience. Because they tire of being ganked very quickly.

Exactly what I said. Again I agree with this post. The freak dude needs to get a clue. Either that or go buy an Xbox or Counter Strike for PC.

Twinks? I play for a challenge, meh twinks were gay. I had a 60 warrior but WoW was the past and I have nothing to do with it anymore. Well I think completely opposite of what you think, without any player versus player interaction whats the point of an online game? PvP for zone control etc is also a good idea. But I find FFA PvP alot more challenging and fun.
OH! This conversation is going to be rich. You are multiple posting in SWG, and SWG refuge, but you have already admitted to not having stepped foot into the game. Now you have a cultural biased, extending my labelling of you as nothing more than a wannabe online gaming rapist, because now your twinks are gay. Please enlighten me as to how FFA PvP, if you even know what that means, equates to more of a challenge than mass consentual PvP, where you know those participating are hungry and waiting? Consentual PvP en masse takes a whole hell of a lot more preparation than jumping a noob at a spawn point, or jumping an avatar 20 levels lesser than you at an entrance point. Do you want challenge or domination? I know the answer so don't bother. You want Bioware to allow you to ruin new players intro at your will, just so you can flex your in game prowess. Honestly. You are the worst thing an upcoming game, community (even at war), or a business could try to cater too, if they want the numbers a Star Wars game could attract. How many threads have you poisoned with this tripe? Get out of our forums. I now label you an online bigoted tween rapist. Please go back to Fury where you are obviously welcomed with open arms by your tween brothers. Ah the happy edit: You child, are a noob.

hear hear! image That's one of the reasons I liked PvP in WoW. I NEVER used to PvP before WoW and the reason being because of idiot noobs that thought that killing players 10 levels lower than you and then stealing your stuff somehow equated to "fun"

But when I played the battlegrounds in WoW I grew to like PvP more and more, but as long as it was consensual, and for the same reasons you mentioned. It's a lot more fun when people actually WANT to PvP as opposed to have it forced down their throats. I also liked the fact that there are level caps in the battle grounds (21-29, 31-39 etc.) because that way your fighting at least on somewhat equal grounds as opposed to having a level 70 fighting a level 20... that's just retarded. The other thing is, I can PvP when I want to, then go on quests afterwards, that's the way all MMO's should be.

    AGREE...

They really need to think the whole PVP thing through. I can't see a SW mmo without it, but in order to keep the kiddies happy, you have to be careful. I hope that KOTOR ONLINE has a rich and robust PVP system in place.
