Have you guys noticed how to every critical post made about TR gets the same "Well I'm having fun!" response time and time again? Go criticize a game in the making like AoC or WAR and people will totally love to tell you the technicalities of it and how it will bring a new age to the MMO genre. Go criticize one of the "giants" (EQ2, whatever), and you'll receive similar respones, apart from the "I have fun, you don't, go away!" which we like so much. They'll be happy to tell you how everything works and why it's great in videogame terms. Here, all I see is "Me me me". If that's all that TR relies on, then, like dalevil1 said, it won't last very long if the devs aren't proactive and self-critical. And yes, I bought TR a week ago and am thoroughly enjoying it, but I don't really see too much of a future in it if things keep going (dev-wise) as they were in beta. In any case I agree with most of his points about it being repetitive and a re-hash of "that other game". That doesn't mean I don't enjoy it, though, not at all. It's a crapload of fun, but it's not gripping, and the classes are uninteresting and uninspired (so, we have Tank-like DPS, a Tank, an AoE damage dealer, a single target damage dealer, a damn buffer, and a damn debuffer... innovative my butt). Considering all that could've been done, the result really comes up short, even when it's quite a lot of fun. So yes, it matters what people think about the game, regardless of individuals having fun with it or not, because that's the only way the genre moves on. If the devs don't realize the shortcomings of their own creation then who's gonna revitalize it in the long run? Certainly not you.
How long have you played the game? I personally have never said TR isn't fun at the beginning. But I don't buy MMOs for the first 40 hours of gameplay....if I wanted that I'd buy a singleplayer game. I buy MMOs for months to follow. Now if TR isn't fun past the first month of playing, then it's a crappy MMO. It might make a fun SP or MP game, but not a fun MMO worth a subscription fee.
I don't doubt that people are having fun, I doubt that they have played long, or will be having fun next month. So the posts of everyone saying the game sucks are valid and serve to save people money. I personally don't want to see any of my friends pay $50 bucks, start saying how great the game is and get other friends to buy the game, then 2 weeks later stop playing.
Oh so you know all of the content they are working on and what they will put in the game? You know all of the info huh? You know that content will not be worth playing? STFU loser and go play something else so it will be one less retard playing TR.
Awesome. I was really skeptical after playing the beta early on, but a lot of my fears have been eliminated. Combat is a blast, movement and animation is great, the feeling of being in the middle of a war is felt everywhere (well, at least up till level 5 lol) So, I'm glad I didnt listen to the nay sayers, because I'm having a real good time so far, I dont even feel the need to level quickly as in every other mmo i've played, and thats refreshing.
It's easy to get all dewey over a new game, of any type, during the first few fractions of time. Come back and tell us how it is after you have level capped, if you ever do. Then, come back 3 months after that and tell us if you are still even playing.
That, Sir, is the hallmark of a good game for you. First impressions really don't count for anything. In MMORPGs, it is the long haul game that is important.
Good Hunting
Hope it holds up for you
Any game that keeps me entertained for at least a month is pretty good. An MMO that engages me enough to reach the cap is a rare exception.
I don't subscribe to the notion that a game has to keep you mesmerized for 6+ months or it blows. If I hit the endgame in an MMO and it bites, it doesn't really bother me that much. If the 1-cap experience isn't fun I'd never make it to the end game, after all. If a game doesn't "start" until you hit the cap, either it's a game where I can hit the cap in a few weekends or it just bites.
Put differently, if you have to put 100+ hours into a game to figure out if it blows or not, then I think you already have your answer. It blows.
Edit: I can see where you are coming from from one of your next posts a bit more clearly. I can certainly see wanting to be able to play a game for years. But I personally haven't been able to stay subbed to anything for more than a year. A game that lasts me six months is exceptional. One month to three is more the norm. And if I'm not having fun inside about my first afternoon with a game, I'm not going to put in another 40 and hope that it "gets fun." Life is too short.
I don't want to write this, and you don't want to read it. But now it's too late for both of us.

So what do you tell them?
"I'm having a lot of fun in this game, but it's going to suck in a couple of weeks so don't buy it." ?
