My computer is 4 years old. I've made a few upgrades over the years and it surpasses the minimum requirements for TR, but it runs like a slideshow and is unplayable. WoW, on the other hand, runs like butter.
I'm a college student and can barely pay rent and feed myself - a new PC is out of the question. Most of the kids who play WoW are probably in the same boat.
I played Tabula Rasa up to lvl 11 and I didn't think it was that fun. I hate quests and I stuck it out until I got a group for an instance and I thought the instance was not really fun at all.
Also some bastard took the last name 'Donkey', i did get the last name "Dude" so that's pretty special I guess, but it's no where near as good as Donkey.
also no they shouldn't have an auction house, auction houses are shit, they should have a market like eve-online.
Which Final Fantasy Character Are You? if I were to kill a titan tomorrow and no CCP employees showed up to say grats I would petition it. Waiting for: the next MMO that lets me make this macro if hp < 30 then CastSpell("heal") SpellTargetUnit("player") else CastSpell("smite") end
imo, its not hard to challenge WoW. WoW is like McDonalds, millions served, yet mediocre food. The masses will continue to line up to the WoW counter to get their helping of crap, that's just the way it is.
Hopefully despite this, there will come some innovative MMOs. I played TR beta briefly and I was impressed but ultimately it was just boring.
TR innovates in several areas.
- real-time combat feel, not the brain-dead select a target and mash hotkeys feel of many MMOs
- PvE with mobs fighting each other for control of a zone, as opposed to just standing around in camps waiting for you to come kill them
- cloning where you never have to play through the save part of the char development tree more than once
So TR definitely did some things right. But ultimately for me the gameplay got boring really quickly.

Not innovative at all. It's just a change of playstyle.
It's like saying that "Jagged Alliance 3 should be a FPS shooter, because thats innovation"... just don't think the fans of the turn based, Real time turn based, strategy, etc, games would agree with you

Its a change for the better, imo, and one which hasn't been common among MMORPGs. You can argue whether to call it innovative or something else, doesn't really matter. The point is, they're moving the genre ahead by pursuing something which isn't a carbon copy of every other MMORPG out there.
As I said, I'm not sure its enough to hold my interest, but the areas I pointed out are worth noting and make it stand a bit above the other stuff.

TR will never overtake WoW.
Why?
