Image you run a guild on a server. Build it up, train people, earn a reputation for your achievements and get help build the community there. You compete with other guilds on your server for new talented players to fill in empty ranks, beat encounters first for bragging rights, etc.
Then some new guild transfers over. You find out the GMs moved them from a server that was never supposed to have transfers off. The GMs waived the fee everyone else pays to transfer. Players in that guild had/have GM powers in the past. The games producers try to cover up about them getting to keep items. Items, some of which were not even earned, but given and some exploited. (Yes the test server players have admitted it)
How could you ever feel that you are on an even playing field with a guild that has the game producer come right out and admit favoritism and willing to break game policies for? He even blames the rest of the playerbase for getting upset.
I can understand why anyone would be upset. Backpeddling after player outcry doesn't somehow make the behavior acceptable just because they got caught.
only reason they got caught is because in they're arrogance they took a ton of theyre tradeable loot and spammed it all over the open market... anyone who plays EQ2 knows that when you check the market regularly and all of a sudden 1 guy has 40+ master spell books up on the market for 100 plat each something has gone terribly wrong...so the community confronted the guy and he said.. YEA i come from test center YOu got a problem with that !?!
that was his attitude..... so keep in mind were not even talking about people that kept to themselves . were talking about at least one jerk in the group that thought he was king and had a major god complex

For another example... MMORPG.com. See, YOU don't pay for your membership here but it costs money to run this place. So games pay to advertise here which keeps MMORPG.com in business. It pays the web fees and the employees. But they wouldn't want the game companies to leave because they'd shut down if that happened. So every once in a while, I imagine they do something totally unexpected and as a surprise and reward the game companies loyalty by allowing a free month of advertising or some such.

THEY HAVE GEAR THAT THERE IS MAYBE ONE OF ON THE REAL SERVER AND THEY HAVE SEVERAL OF THEM BECAUSE on test server the loot tables are more giving.. not to mention they had a guy hacking raid mobs.... and ALL OF Theyre stuff came to the live server with them

ive said it like 3 times now.. my gf whom i live with sits not 2 feet from me.. and she plays on the server they came to... i know what soe said but its a flat out lie... i have seen the characters that came over and they are loaded with super gear.... IVE seen them on her screen in game.. there are also endless screenshots of the gear... also ive seen the market listings of the dude listing 40+ master spell books the day he came to this server.... i understand this is a long thread but ive been following it since it started.... and your like the 5th person that has tried to tell me they took theyre gear away.. They didnt... ive seen the gear.. its on the server right this minute.... and SOE took the characters off but left the gear

Players (including the xfers) say that they came over with gear.
i also understand that you read the thread and ill admit im a bit wordy but my wordy posts explained all this already... SOE straight up lied and its been proven .. they did not strip theyre gear .. the community freaked out so SOE took the characters off the server but left the gear! My GF has played eq2 since the game started .... and played in a guild called vagabonds which was the best guild on unrest server for a while... She doesnt have any mystical gear and she raided and beat the raid mob just about every single night....
some of these new transfers have several pieces of mystical gear each.... unacceptable.. again

hehe if they removed most of the worst then i cant imagine what they had because my gf Inspected 2 of them with me sitting next to her and let me tell ya lol rediculous gear... i mean its not like hacked gear in the sence that its never supposed to be in game.. its just the type of gear that you maybe see one of in your time in eq2 and they have a couple items each
They took away SOME of their Mythic stuff. They did not take away the master spells or any other gear. If you read on the official SOE forums they actually word it so it sounds like they took all the loot but it was a very small specific group of stuff they took. That doesn't mean the rares they brought aren't really valuable and people are right the xfers admitted they brought stuff and tried to rationalize they had it tough on the test server so it was ok.

Where are these pictures? Do they show on screen that they are taken on the Unrest server?
I can show you pics of when I stood right in front of a dragon that was bugged. It was on permafrost, or maybe it was unrest, or...hellscream.
we all agree it was wrong to transfer Test to Live
but,
SOE did apologize (twist it as you want)
SOE did say the guild will be moved back

The story I've confirmed with several sources and consider reliable goes like this:
1. An "SOE employee" is guilded in UT (This was NOT Grimwell, even though Grimwell was in UT on Test beginning last July, he is not the person I'm referring to here)
2. That SOE employee instructs a coder to move UT from Test to Unrest.
3. The coder balks, says he can't do that. (btw, this guy is the hero of this story, he's the person who put his finger in the dike and said "fuck no". I didn't get any info in this thread from this person and am not naming him to avoid any hassle to him)
4. The SOE employee then forces the issue and goes high up the chain over the coder's head. This results in the coder being given a direct order from senior management to do the move.
5. The coder then spends 2+ days doing his best and hand coding as much as he could to remove as much of the worst stuff possible from the toons before they were moved to Live.
I agree theres no way of getting around it SOE's flagship game is tainted by this mess thats for sure other than a roll back on unrest theres nothing much to be done they'll just sweep it under the carpet which is sad IMO
Am i going to quit EQ2? if it had happened on my server then yes i honestly think i would have gone by now (sub was up today) but i've paid for another month and i will moniter the situation and more importantly how its handled,its the poor people on unrest i feel the most sorry for.
I've jumped to the defence of SOE in the past mainly becuase no matter how cack handedly they go about things they do the things they do to try something (usually) to help a game out..the NGE is a prime example of this yes it was madness looking back at it but i cant think of any other game company trying to solve a game like SWG problems with such a bold if deeply misguided move..others see the NGE as the worst thing ever to have happened in games history i see it as a poker hand that didnt quite work out and as i say they deserve credit for at least trying to save that doomed game.
The "apolgy"(sp? im ill bear with me) was a best half hearted and at worst patronising and frankly not the best way to start off his tenure as the boss of the game as i say i fear for the games long term health with him in charge of course he could be the best thing since sliced bread and i hope he is.
But this whole episode has tainted my EQ2 a game ive called home for the best part of 3 years now maybe with time the taint will go away and i hope it does but we'll see.
heres whats been pieced together by LFG: The story I've confirmed with several sources and consider reliable goes like this:
1. An "SOE employee" is guilded in UT (This was NOT Grimwell, even though Grimwell was in UT on Test beginning last July, he is not the person I'm referring to here)
2. That SOE employee instructs a coder to move UT from Test to Unrest.
3. The coder balks, says he can't do that. (btw, this guy is the hero of this story, he's the person who put his finger in the dike and said "fuck no". I didn't get any info in this thread from this person and am not naming him to avoid any hassle to him)
4. The SOE employee then forces the issue and goes high up the chain over the coder's head. This results in the coder being given a direct order from senior management to do the move.
5. The coder then spends 2+ days doing his best and hand coding as much as he could to remove as much of the worst stuff possible from the toons before they were moved to Live.
Its getting like the x files now..
One way they could go towards restoring the faith towards the playerbase is by banning ANY one connected with codeing the game from being in ANY guild other than an internal one for testing purposes just a thought

Read the posts ive written dont think ive said anywhere that i hate SOE im just bloody angry about it and if you play the game you should be too it could be your server it happens too next
And the only comparrison ive made to WOW is regarding PR which is something they (SOE) need lessons in after the farce of trying to get hold of a boxed version in the uk and now this fiasco they need a few lessons.

Image you run a guild on a server. Build it up, train people, earn a reputation for your achievements and get help build the community there. You compete with other guilds on your server for new talented players to fill in empty ranks, beat encounters first for bragging rights, etc.
Then some new guild transfers over. You find out the GMs moved them from a server that was never supposed to have transfers off. The GMs waived the fee everyone else pays to transfer. Players in that guild had/have GM powers in the past. The games producers try to cover up about them getting to keep items. Items, some of which were not even earned, but given and some exploited. (Yes the test server players have admitted it)
How could you ever feel that you are on an even playing field with a guild that has the game producer come right out and admit favoritism and willing to break game policies for? He even blames the rest of the playerbase for getting upset.
I can understand why anyone would be upset. Backpeddling after player outcry doesn't somehow make the behavior acceptable just because they got caught.
only reason they got caught is because in they're arrogance they took a ton of theyre tradeable loot and spammed it all over the open market... anyone who plays EQ2 knows that when you check the market regularly and all of a sudden 1 guy has 40+ master spell books up on the market for 100 plat each something has gone terribly wrong...so the community confronted the guy and he said.. YEA i come from test center YOu got a problem with that !?!
that was his attitude..... so keep in mind were not even talking about people that kept to themselves . were talking about at least one jerk in the group that thought he was king and had a major god complex

yes SOE did the PR thing and moved the guild back ... but it doesnt fix the impact on Unrest
personally I'm glad I dont play on that server and I do feel sorry for the people that do play on Unrest

Obviously you know nothing about customer service.
Here's how it works... your loyal customers are people that you reward every once in a while. People that have been with you for years on end get better gifts than those that haven't.
For example... I work in a hotel. If a guest stays with us for 12 nights, we reward them with a 13th night free. However, we have a family thats been with us every night for the last 4 months, and will continue to be with us for the next year. So the family thats going to be with us for so long gets extra perks, like the occasional night in the honeymoon suite (king side bed, 32 inch tv, free movies, and a jacuzzi along with dinner and a bottle of wine).
Expecting the same thing as those people that have been with you so long and proved themselves invaluable when YOU haven't proven yourself in the same manner is idiotic and childish.
You reward loyal customers because they've proven their loyalty to you, that the amount of time and money they've spent with you far outweighs the amount of small things you might do for them, and because the small thing that you do will get them to tell their friends how wonderful they think you are therebye bringing in even more business for you.
SOE is doing nothing wrong by rewarding loyalty such as that when they've been with them for years. They removed all the bonus' EXCEPT for their level and then transferred them to a live server. ITS NOTHING.
You guys are way overreacting about something that means absolutely nothing other than a "thank you for your patronage". Its good business.

I mean, holy crap, the convenience store down the street where I live I've been going to for the last 16 years almost every day. They wonderfully do the occasional thing and give me something for free for being such a loyal customer.
Its just good business. Yes, it singles some people out but so what? Stop overreacting about something incredibly small that really has no impact whatsoever on you or your game.
For another example... MMORPG.com. See, YOU don't pay for your membership here but it costs money to run this place. So games pay to advertise here which keeps MMORPG.com in business. It pays the web fees and the employees. But they wouldn't want the game companies to leave because they'd shut down if that happened. So every once in a while, I imagine they do something totally unexpected and as a surprise and reward the game companies loyalty by allowing a free month of advertising or some such.
Its just good business guys.

ive said it like 3 times now.. my gf whom i live with sits not 2 feet from me.. and she plays on the server they came to... i know what soe said but its a flat out lie... i have seen the characters that came over and they are loaded with super gear.... IVE seen them on her screen in game.. there are also endless screenshots of the gear... also ive seen the market listings of the dude listing 40+ master spell books the day he came to this server.... i understand this is a long thread but ive been following it since it started.... and your like the 5th person that has tried to tell me they took theyre gear away.. They didnt... ive seen the gear.. its on the server right this minute.... and SOE took the characters off but left the gear

Players (including the xfers) say that they came over with gear.

i also understand that you read the thread and ill admit im a bit wordy but my wordy posts explained all this already... SOE straight up lied and its been proven .. they did not strip theyre gear .. the community freaked out so SOE took the characters off the server but left the gear! My GF has played eq2 since the game started .... and played in a guild called vagabonds which was the best guild on unrest server for a while... She doesnt have any mystical gear and she raided and beat the raid mob just about every single night....
some of these new transfers have several pieces of mystical gear each.... unacceptable.. again
They did not take the gear out!

hehe if they removed most of the worst then i cant imagine what they had because my gf Inspected 2 of them with me sitting next to her and let me tell ya lol rediculous gear... i mean its not like hacked gear in the sence that its never supposed to be in game.. its just the type of gear that you maybe see one of in your time in eq2 and they have a couple items each
They took away SOME of their Mythic stuff. They did not take away the master spells or any other gear. If you read on the official SOE forums they actually word it so it sounds like they took all the loot but it was a very small specific group of stuff they took. That doesn't mean the rares they brought aren't really valuable and people are right the xfers admitted they brought stuff and tried to rationalize they had it tough on the test server so it was ok.

IVE seen them on her screen in game.. there are also endless screenshots of the gear... also ive seen the market listings of the dude listing 40+ master spell books the day he came to this server.... i understand this is a long thread but ive been following it since it started.... and your like the 5th person that has tried to tell me they took theyre gear away.. They didnt... ive seen the gear.. its on the server right this minute.... and SOE took the characters off but left the gear
Where are these pictures? Do they show on screen that they are taken on the Unrest server?
I can show you pics of when I stood right in front of a dragon that was bugged. It was on permafrost, or maybe it was unrest, or...hellscream.

we all agree it was wrong to transfer Test to Live
but,
SOE did apologize (twist it as you want)
SOE did say the guild will be moved back
beyond that

SOE have not appolgised over this the new producer "found" himself having to say sorry read it properly please they've been caught red handed over this and seem to want to blame to the playerbase for it..Oh please check my posts out i'm a fully paid up member of the SOE fan club i freely admit it but this is plain wrong.

heres whats been pieced together by LFG:
The story I've confirmed with several sources and consider reliable goes like this:
1. An "SOE employee" is guilded in UT (This was NOT Grimwell, even though Grimwell was in UT on Test beginning last July, he is not the person I'm referring to here)
2. That SOE employee instructs a coder to move UT from Test to Unrest.
3. The coder balks, says he can't do that. (btw, this guy is the hero of this story, he's the person who put his finger in the dike and said "fuck no". I didn't get any info in this thread from this person and am not naming him to avoid any hassle to him)
4. The SOE employee then forces the issue and goes high up the chain over the coder's head. This results in the coder being given a direct order from senior management to do the move.
5. The coder then spends 2+ days doing his best and hand coding as much as he could to remove as much of the worst stuff possible from the toons before they were moved to Live.

I agree theres no way of getting around it SOE's flagship game is tainted by this mess thats for sure other than a roll back on unrest theres nothing much to be done they'll just sweep it under the carpet which is sad IMO
Am i going to quit EQ2? if it had happened on my server then yes i honestly think i would have gone by now (sub was up today) but i've paid for another month and i will moniter the situation and more importantly how its handled,its the poor people on unrest i feel the most sorry for.
I've jumped to the defence of SOE in the past mainly becuase no matter how cack handedly they go about things they do the things they do to try something (usually) to help a game out..the NGE is a prime example of this yes it was madness looking back at it but i cant think of any other game company trying to solve a game like SWG problems with such a bold if deeply misguided move..others see the NGE as the worst thing ever to have happened in games history i see it as a poker hand that didnt quite work out and as i say they deserve credit for at least trying to save that doomed game.
The "apolgy"(sp? im ill bear with me) was a best half hearted and at worst patronising and frankly not the best way to start off his tenure as the boss of the game as i say i fear for the games long term health with him in charge of course he could be the best thing since sliced bread and i hope he is.
But this whole episode has tainted my EQ2 a game ive called home for the best part of 3 years now maybe with time the taint will go away and i hope it does but we'll see.
One way they could go towards restoring the faith towards the playerbase is by banning ANY one connected with codeing the game from being in ANY guild other than an internal one for testing purposes just a thought
this hasnt tainted the game for me
-- I had bigger disappointments with EQ1 and Fires of Heaven impacting the game

Grimwell has always been a standup Dev (for both EQs) and I'm sure theres others at SOE

Cant argue with you there SOE could do worse than look at blizz at how to handle PR
On a lighter note i would like to say the sheer lack of mature antelopes for the "these boots hwere made for" HQ is really impacting my enjoyment for my ratty alt
It hasn't "tainted" anything for me. Its a game, guys. Just play. If you don't like it, then leave but quit complaining just because you don't like SOE. Sick to death of hearing the moaning. As for the comparisons to WoW, knock it off. If you can't understand how business works, thats YOUR problem, not theirs. There's already a thread for "I hate SOE", go use that one instead.
Read the posts ive written dont think ive said anywhere that i hate SOE im just bloody angry about it and if you play the game you should be too it could be your server it happens too next
And the only comparrison ive made to WOW is regarding PR which is something they (SOE) need lessons in after the farce of trying to get hold of a boxed version in the uk and now this fiasco they need a few lessons.
